Thanks for you explanations! I am about to rebuild my 94 Mercruiser Alpha One Carb. Pretty sure my issue is the vacuum sealed plunger doesnt retract enough and it is flooding when i am trying to get up to speed, causing the engine to die.
Hi, my choke plate is seized open. At the shaft . what's the best way to free up? Also do I do anything for the capped fuel adjustments for cleaning. Thanks!!!
Hi Mike, thanks for the video! Is this a carb for a 3.0 liter mercruiser? Mine started bogging down when I was pulling a tuber. I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the clear yellow line that runs from the fuel filter to the carb. It was dark colored at both ends. There was gunk in there. I still am having a bogging issue when trying to go full throttle from a start. If I slowly advance the throttle, the boat slowly builds speed up but it may not be at full throttle as I recall from the past. I've never taken a carb off before, if I do I'll end up watching your video about 50 times! Thanks!
Hey Mike.. how much would you charge to rebuild my carburators. They're off of a 1967 mercury trihull.. I also have the rebuild kits for them (2).. I dont have experience with Carburetors and my local carburetor shop wants over $600 to rebuild them 😟
i have a question. I have a 3.0 mercruiser. I ran it every other day for 2 months for pre- spring ready. Ran fine all the time except 2 times it run for a bit i say 10 mins and died on me, Well finally took it out to the lake ran it fine all morning and started heading back and it started bogging on me like no fuel. finally not started at all. Well i got it hme and order a fuel pump installed it and try running it. it will not idle at all. i c fuel squirt when pump the throttle but when running in nuetral i dont c fuel, i have to literly run it on advanced throttle at 4k rpm for like 5-10 mins and than idle and it would run fine after that. But as long as i try to start it cold i have to do that. is that normal for these motor or is it the carb?
Hey Mike...question. I did my rebuild 2 yrs ago. Worked great for that season. I winterized it and did not use it last season. Now this season I cant get it to idle when cold. And it idles rough when warm . Also have to pin the gas to get it to start when cold (that's a recent issue). Any ideas what it could be? Btw...great tutorial and products. Big help when I rebuilt mine. Thanks!
I hear if you got a carb with the spring and seat to use the one without the spring when going back together. Not sure how accurate that is.... By the way good job on the tutorial!
Hey Mike, My boat is very Hard to start I have to keep cranking it for awhile, last time I tried to start my boat carb backfired shooting flames Should I rebuild it our buy a new one since it shots flames out?

Hey Mike look on the sides there are small marks where you can place a screwdriver and hit it to split it in two

if shooting flames seems like maybe a timing issue..
Mike, What if I have a Rochester Carb on my Boat? Should I get the correct carb? or rebuilt the Rochester one?
So If I replace the whole carb can I use the Mercarb? Are the all interchangeable?
carbs are so intimidating.
Thanks for the video, I was trying to find that screen filter.
