@@ApronstringsGayJordan I’m thinking I might try it with some apples, do you think that would work?
@@challengingkitchen3554 I don’t know how it’d roll. The pieces would have to be very small or they’d tear the dough

Girl....it is really a delicious dessert!
This looks absolutely sinful. I will be trying it very soon. What a treat this would be for Christmas morning while opening presents.
It is a real treat! Delicious with a cup of coffee or tea.....and with vanilla ice cream on it while it's warm!
Wow! This looks like a dessert I will try. Not for everyday because of the day and sugar content, but for a special occasion on a cold day with coffee or tea? Yum!
Betty. It’s delicious!!! It’s a special occasion dessert for us😂😃
😮That sounds delicious! I’ve never had this but I’ll be making this for sure! Enjoy the birthday celebration. Be blessed my friend 🥰
Gina it’s one of my favorite ones Grandma made!!! Have a great weekend!!!
Oh my, Grandma's Butter Rolls look SO good!!! Thank you for sharing!! I have to try this recipe!! Hope Richard enjoyed his birthday supper???
It was absolutely scrumptious!!!! Our little fellow ( 20 yrs old) was a happy man!!!!
My Mother made these. Although she did not put cinnamon on them because my Daddy would not eat anything with cinnamon. She also made them as yeast rolls instead of using baking powder. I really miss her cooking.
It has always been one of my favorites of Grandma's goodies!!!!!
@@ApronstringsGayJordan Not everyone has had the pleasure of tasting them. They really don't know what they are missing.
How delicious these must be. I wish Richard had invited me to his birthday dinner so I could eat this wonderful meal. Happy Birthday Richard.
Awwwww. Sweet!!!!
Good morning. I enjoy your old-fashioned recipes. My wife and I both love to cook. We have a small homestead in Indiana.
We had a pig butchered this fall. Getting ready to render the lard.
The reason I'm writing is because I have an older food processor that is huge. My wife is always telling me to get a smaller one. I am wondering what kind you have. Thanks, have a blessed and wonderful day! Jimmy
Thank you for watching apron strings!!! 😍😍😍. My processor is a cusinart. I really like. It’s my second one. The first still works fine and it’s 45 years old.
Thank you. I'll try to find one. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family.
Lord I haven't had any butter rolls in year..my mother n law used to mk them😢😢😢...I miss her and them soo much....wish I knew someone close to me to mk me a pan.
They are sooooo good!!!!!!
I had no idea that watching the ads helped the channel. Thank you for telling us that. I've been subscribed for quite some time, but at least I can help by letting the ads run through your videos.
Thank you!!!!! I don’t understand it all but watching ads helps the e equation 😍
What kind of flour is it self-rising or all purpose flour?
These are very interesting and I bet they taste wonderful. Thanks for sharing it!
They’re decadent!!!! You oughta make some!!
My mother in law introduced me to her butter rolls. It uses what we call “whap” biscuits. (Cheap canned biscuits) Each biscuit rolled out and filled with butter & sugar n cinnamon. It looks like enchiladas in the pan. And then canned milk over top. But I’m very interested in trying this sauce. Think it would work on her butter roll recipe? Hers a a family favorite all the way down to her great grands
Well. We call this butter roll. It’s basically your recipe. Yes. Replace your canned mild with this sauce. Delicious!!!! Thank you for watching!!!!
Oh my, this looks absolutely delicious, I just love your recipes and have tried several for holiday get together with my family and you never disappoint, so, so good. Thank you for sharing, God bless and love always! ❤
Thank you for your sweet comment!!!!!! I do love sharing good food 😃😃
Never heard of that one Gay, sounds like a real oldie. Made 2 batches apple jelly spent yesterday getting the juice, not setting up good, could tell with the first batch when testing so added more pectin, and added a lot more pectin to second, won't do last batch until I see how this sets, if it does not I am going to be real mad, put the shorted one in fridge so can tell better. So I is not happy, a lot of work, and it is so pretty, rose colored, so it better set, never ever happened to me before. Sad part I have 6 pint jars and 8 half pint jars. Say a prayer my jelly sets. You make the pizza yet and did you get the chocolate cake recipe, it is sooo good.
I got the cake recipe! I plan to make it this weekend when the kids come over! Oh my! I hope your jelly sets up! That is so disheartening. I haven't done the pizza dough yet either. Life is so busy.....I feel like I meet myself coming and going. But....I will get it made!!!!
I’m sure old folks way back in the day, but my Dads mom made orange roll’s.
These butter rolls look delicious 😋
It’s sooooo good. And simple ingredients!!!
My first time watching. Love your channel. Maybe change where options can be ALL when we subscribe.
I’m not sure what options you’re talking about. But welcome to apron strings!!!! I’m glad you’re here in the kitchen!!!! Have a blessed day!!!
I'm gonna have to try this. It isn't like any of my own Appalachian heritage recipes that have been passed down in my family. I'll think on a family recipe to send you. The problem is, recipes tend not to be written down. I watched mom and grandma make dishes and I wrote down ingredients but my mind knows how much to add.
I did that some too. Watched and wrote down. They had some masterpieces!!!!
Looks great!
Donna it is scrumptious!!!
Grandma and Momma would do this with pie crust scraps . Put them together roll it out like this , butter and sugar and cinnamon just like this ! We loved it !! I made it for my kids . Now I make it for my grand babies!!!! God bless !
Fun memories!!!! I like pie crust pieces with butter anc cinnamon n sugar baked like cookies!
I'm going to make this for Thanksgiving.... Of course I'll make to make one before to make sure I get it right 😉😉 My kiddos are going to Love it, Thank You for sharing Mrs Gay ❤️❤️🙏 Kendra
It’s good warmed up too!!!!
❤
Howdy!!!!!
My mom and I were just talking about her grandmother making butter roll. I told her I would look for a recipe so this was right on time. Oh and I subscribed. I enjoyed watching your lesson. 😊
Welcome to apron strings!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for subbing!!!! I love butter roll.....it's a family favorite. I like it warm and fresh. My daughter will warm it up til its all gone!
You make everything with dough look so easy and I have such a hard time with it! Lol. This looks delish! I will give this a try! I'm going to try my hand at empadas real soon also!
This is easy. If you have a silicone sheet use it like I did to roll it up.
TIMBER!? I hope nothing broke.
lol....all is well!!!!
Can you come and make my birthday dinner? 😂 Everything looks so yummy from these vids! God bless.
lol.....it was all so good!!!
My Granny back in Kentucky made this. This is almost a lost recipe. She told me this years ago, back in the depression days they would use left over pie crust dough to make butter rolls.
I think most grannies made it. It’s one of those “ make do” recipes 😍
Looks yummy.
Delicious!!!
I have never heard of this, but am looking forward to trying it! I think it will be a great Sunday afternoon treat today 😊. Is it bad for me to say that I got such a kick out of the clanking pans when you got your pan out? I just laughed and laughed, and I listened to that part alone several times. Sounds like my house at times, and I just enjoyed the laugh. I hope you don’t mind. I love your channel and am SO glad to have found it ❤
I’m sure you’ll love it!!!! I’m glad the “ kitchen music “ brought some laughter!!’😂😂😂😂😂 glad you’re here!!
This is so different gonna make them today . Thank you !
New subscriber !
Welcome! Thank you for subbing!!!! The butter roll is delicious!!!
Hello Gay, I hope you are well. I do have a question, in your recipes do you use salted or unsalted butter? I never heard of butter roll, but boy it looks like comfort food. God bless
I always use salted unless the recipe specifically calls for unsalted....and even then often I use salted. Thank you for watching!!!!
this is an old recipe and the other day I saw one made with pie crust. 1st time ever seeing that. always seen biscuit dough and most have nutmeg instead of cinnamon. but this made with cinnamon sounds really good. don't you just love when your youngsters love your old dishes. thanks for sharing.
I do love those younguns liking what I treasure!!!!
Miss you!! I have Covid right now and am just now fever free after 1 week of this mess. All I’ve been doing is sleeping and moaning. Woke up this morning and decided to get on UA-cam and your lovely video came up. Thank you.
💞👼🏻💐
Oh Lisa. Please take care of yourself!!!!! I’ll pray for you!!! That beast is no joke!
Yummy yummy yummy! The roll part of the recipe is much like my Grandma Pauline’s baking powder biscuits recipe except that she used butter, not Crisco and never lard! The sauce looks divine. I want to try it!
I hope you’ll let me know how you like it!!!
@@ApronstringsGayJordan I will!
This is crying out for me to make it! One question: Did you mix water in with the evaporated milk to reconstitute or was it 4 cups straight out of the cans? Hope you are having a great week. - Joy
Straight from the van. It’s rich and delicious!!!
I absolutely love old school recipes. Can't wait to try this one. Where did you buy your baking mat?
Hey there!!!! Amazon!!! The go to place😂😂
Where did you get the dough mat?
I got it off amazon. Don't remember the price....but....not high.
Does the salt go in the dough or the sauce?
I’m not home right now…. But there’s a recipe at the end of the video 😁. Thank you for watching!!!
Would you try this recipe?
Tex Mex Casserole
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a 7 x 11" baking dish. Cut 1 pkg. soft taco size tortillas into thin pieces. Cover bottom of baking dish with tortilla pieces.
1 lb. ground beef
2/3 C. water
1 env. taco seasoning mix
Brown beef; drain off fat. Mix with water and taco seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Remove from heat. Spoon evenly over tortilla pieces.
2 T. oil
1 med. onion, diced
1 med. green pepper, diced
1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, chopped and drained
In a small saucepan, heat oil. Add onion and green pepper. Cook until tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in green chilies. Spoon evenly over ground beef.
Cover this layer with 8 oz. Chihuahua cheese, shredded, then cover this layer with 16 oz. sour cream. Cover sour cream layer with remaining 8 oz. Chihuahua cheese, then cover cheese with remaining tortilla pieces.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly. Let stand for a bit, before cutting.
We love this casserole. You can add 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained, to beef mixture, to stretch if further, if desired.
Omgoodness....YES!!! I will try it....probably in a video! Thank you!!!!
