Do us a favour. You've been skiing for a while. Please could you point out the 'black' bits? This run doesn't look all that black. I'm trying to convince my higher management and authority she can do this run, but the second she hears the black word its a 'not doing it' 😂
Thanks for the comment no problem. In 1964, it was off-piste the whole way down, making it one of the most challenging runs in Europe. It was about 10 years later, I think, that Piste Bashers were able to piste the run. There is no way off the run, meaning that if you graded the run red, you would get people who are out of their comfort zone for a long time. There are three sections of the run that fall within the generally held view of the angle of slope to be a black. That being said, it’s only about 500 meters in total, but it’s still within the run. The piste has three narrow sections, meaning that in the late afternoon, it can have a lot of moguls for kilometre after kilometre, especially in February. In short, grading runs can involve a number of factors, and in my view, it’s graded correctly.!
Thanks Alex, we are coming out next week and the top management have decided she will give it a go, it looks like a couple of steep narrow sections but the rest looks great. Thanks for posting
BTW. We're at Belle Plagne right now. Still snowing this Sunday up above. We're whimps when it comes to skiing weather. So a long lunch nursing a nice red is on the cards. Enjoy your season Alex!!
