I hope that when YR is over, they will hire Omar as another siren at Nevermore Academy over at the Wednesday project, which hopefully will last for many seasons. Still wondering how to fit Edvin in over there....(I am almost sure Omar has some siren ancestry, and I'd almost bet that he, with help from Edvin ((their possible characters, I mean, of course)) would succeeed in causing Wednesday Addams to smile as well as laugh out loud.)
the way Edvin is so mean to S2 Wille and thought the fandom wouldn't sympathize with him anymore SKSJS. meanwhile in reality everyone absolutely adores S2 Wille and still thinks he hasn't done anything wrong in his life ever
That's what Edvin thought after he read the script. He struggled to sympathize with Wille and understand him but then as he said he dug deeper to understand what exactly causes him to act this way and then he managed to play him in a way that the audience understood it and sympathized with him 🥰
And he thought everyone would understand the queen and August but everyone still hates them 🙃 (I mean I liked August this season but I'm in the minority, I know 🙈). I'm not even gonna mention the reaction to Marcus.
I think he’s so sweet and mature, he clearly has a strong moral compass and isn’t as willing to overlook Wille’s mistakes as we are. I guess when you put it on a list it becomes clearer why he had a hard time overlooking them 😅 It’s also refreshing to have the actor put out his real thoughts and not cave to the fandom that, like you said, thinks Wille hasn’t done anything wrong (which isn’t true by any means).
@@gerganakantcheva8176 I suspect that kind of attitude has allowed Edvin to grow to be so mature well beyond his age. He and Omar are so insightful and sincere and so much into what they are doing and want to do with their lifes. I pray the jaded side of show business will never eat them up. They are so precious.
When you talked about secrecy, that struck something inside of me. I am older, 18 with 43 years of experience as I say, but I remember wanting the type of love that Simon and Wille portray. It is innocent, exploratory, and intimate in the sense that it is theirs. This show resonated with me because of that. I have been keeping me a secret for many years, and that secrecy also affected me as a musician, I could not "hear" music for a while. After Heartstopper then this show, I started to stop fearing and start accepting me. Adam B also played a part in that journey. His interview led me to watch these two shows. Young Royals is a natural love that blossoms between two people, there is no falseness in that love and it is not stereotypical of so many shows. As I said it is innocent and beautiful. It actually speaks to a wider audience.
It does take time to accept ourselves. I’m 54 and this show has had a huge impact on me. I’m happy for you that you are starting to accept yourself at a younger age especially. I hope this pavés a beautiful life path for you. (I also enjoyed Heartstopper).
Love hearing them discuss their EXTRAORDINARY show. It's especially incredibly hearing Edvin talk about not understanding S2 Wille, and yet portraying his grief, heartbreak, and personal/mental struggles with such nuance, depth, and clarity. Season 2 was brilliant, exceeding all my expectations, and I am so proud of everyone involved
Edvin said he didn't understand Wille when he read the script but then dug deeper and did his best to understand exactly why he was doing what he did and that understanding obviously helped him portray him the way he did 🥰 Edvin was still in high school during the filming of Season 2 (he graduated last June) and he said in an interview from 2021 that he chose behavioral science as his elective subject in his final 2 years of high school to be able to understand his characters better.
The only thing that’s better than Wille in YR is watching Edvin Ryding talking deep in interviews. I could be his mother but I am so fond of him it’s ridiculous. One of the most beautiful human beings inside out I have ever seen. How can someone this young be so incredibly smart and wise yet sweet and playful?? I want to scream „Edvin I love youuuu“ like some teenager that thinks it is possible to love someone you don’t even know.
never in my life had I imagined I would sit for 25 minutes to watch an interview in a completely unknown language but young royals is totally worth it. I love the deep talk about the serie, it's been more than a year since I saw the first chapter of young royals and it continues to amaze me how a "simple" serie can keep changing my life. definitely netflix best serie.
To be honest, the reason I clicked play on "Young Royals" the first time was because, as a Swedish learner, there is not a lot of Swedish content on Netflix that motivates me enough to try, and even less that has decent German subtitles. But what kept me watching was the phenomenal acting, the undeniable chemistry between Edvin and Omar and the incredible visceral realness of their romance. One major thing that makes the series so good, just as Edvin says, is that sexuality is never made into any issue worth mentioning. I'm so fed up with all this content where it's highlighted and forced on you to cater to woke ideals. In YR, it's just a background detail that feels natural.
these conversations are so valuable and interesting. It's very nice to know the creative process, and also the feelings you have about the series, the stories and the personalities of the various characters. I'm glad you're all so determined not to let the audience influence you in your future story choices for Young Royals. For better or for worse, that's what I prepare to see and accept, when the story reaches its finale. Hang in there, you've been great so far and still will be (no imposter complex Edvin, please. You're so professional, perfect for your role, such a talent).
This beautiful conversation makes me feel like we're in such safe hands for season 3. With the popularity of the show and how strongly fans feel about the show, I was a little worried that with all that pressure it might go in the direction of appeasing the fan base. But listening to these phenomenal artists discuss the complexities of the characters and the stories, and demonstrating their dedication and understanding of them, it's made me even more excited to embrace season 3, whatever direction it sends my emotions.
I loved this interview hearing lisa, rodja and edvin talking deeply about the whole young royals, I'm really looking forward to edvin & omar version of this deep talk and waiting to hear them talking about young royals, their characters and etc together and even more deeply! hahaha
Thank you for these in-depth discussions with the cast and crew, it is fascinating how much thought goes into creating this show. Also I'm relieved they aren't swayed by fan reactions/speculations, because everyone in fandom wants something else to happen, and the creators should always remain true to their own vision (for everything else there's fanfiction :P)
Those deep talks are the best, i could stay there 3 hours listening to them speaking about the process, about how they handle the new game and all, so interesting !! I want a 3 hours conversation with them PLEASE
I just can't get over how good this show is. Season 2 was phenomenal - Lisa is so right when she says that they have (again) been brave with Season 2. I love that they've turned everything upside down, showing so much character development, while also slowly building the tension between Simon and Wilhelm 🔥 Wilhelm has grown so much this season! I could listen to them for hours. Thank you so much for this incredible show 💜
The honesty, spontaneity and the deep thought behind the characters & scenes is so refreshing. The Season 2 Wille, Simon, Marcus, Sara and August helped me psychologically in real life too. Not to see people and situations as purely good and bad or right and wrong. I can love a person (or a character) and yet not fully condone (agree) with their actions or behavior. It's wonderful.
Such a good chat! I love hearing directly from them, thank you! I LOVE that season 2 was rich and not over simplified.. I dont think its soapy because that would be superficial drama without depth.. but yr keeps moving, and keeps revealing reflections. What keeps me interested in yr is exactly that no moment is wasted, we see that every person lives within their own universe, overlapping each others worlds, I adore the friendships represented as well as the love stories (yay bechdel test! 😘). In this era of rising fundamentalism, its sooooo extroadinarily powerful to present each character as flawed as well as beautiful, noone is excused from being human, and like the best mythological stories, you can see a piece of yourself within every character to make the whole. This is so humble and humanising, in a world that currently seems so intent on dehumanising our differences. Its very grounding to see humanity from this philosophy, and a refreshing breath of air from the smothering hollywood's goodie/baddie/meritocracy type attitude of the universe. I love all the characters for their endearing failures, despite their flaws, for their good intentions, and selfishness, not because they are superior human beings. I also can imagine Edvin finding it hard to relate to willes character and choices in season 2... In a way Im glad, because as a young white man I guessing he feels a beautiful responsability to behave well in the world, live with integrity and breakdown stereotypes, (I think hes said as much about young mens mental health in another interview I watched).. And maybe it tells me he hasnt had a close call with evil in life yet, and Im glad for him.. But to me what is so extremely powerful about Willes character and is captured so so well, is the natural consequences and what its like to come from an abused background, what upper class emotional abuse feels like, the psychological pressure to perform to the extreme control of another, keep secrets, lie to cover, protect someone elses agenda, be so caught up in surviving other peoples narcism that there is no room to just be a natural person of ones own self etc, and the consequence of that inner conflict between surviving and adapting, and bursting with the purity of human authenticity and innocent love. Its such an incredible study on human nature, my heart aches for Willes naieve attempts where over and over again his actions backfire because of his conditioning and upbringing, and he keeps struggling his way to break free and define himself on his own terms, and learns that actually his gut instinct is good, and reliable, even if others get upset. This is such a universal coming of age metaphore, no matter what class or pressure is on you, no matter to what extent youve been abused by family or society in your upbringing, the complexity of being lgbtiqa+ or just a lover, we all have to find a way to stand tall on our own 2 feet, despite all the failures, growing pains and clumsiness, and thats what makes this show so precious to me. Thank you so so much! I love hearing that you will stay true to the art of writing and acting and directing the vision, I totally agree, its essential to protect the creative process, and not be smothered by fawning to fans, or people pleasing for numbers sake. Im so so thankful to hear that kind of integrity now, because I think that will lead all of you in the right direction in life! I cant wait to see more. Bless 🥰🙏
I agree 100% with every single word you said about Wille... You expressed it so well, in a way I could never have. I sometimes find it difficult to understand why Edvin says he couldn't understand Wille sometimes, cause I have developed such a soft spot for his character. I know he's made some mistakes and some things that are wrong, but I think he's in such a difficult position, going through so much pressure because of everyone's expectations over him, when he just wants to be free to be who he really is... Watching him suffer so much broke my heart during the whole two seasons.
Now I'm going to sound annoying and cringy but just have to say it.. Young Royals WAS life-changing for me. Not only this portraits young, pure love in a majestic, profound way, it makes me feel seen even if I've almost got nothing in common with the characters. I'm a queer (and veeery romantic) person who lives in a country when the LGBT community is "technically" accepted but in reality is really not; seeing this romance portrayed so normal and real it made me believe that I'll have something like it one day. Also I'm an art-cinematography student, I've studied all the world behind the screen, kudos to everyone who were behind this, your work and effort has been very much appreciated. I agreed with most of the points that were said and it was a pleasure seeing them talking 😊. Hope for a perfect final season that this perfect shows deserves ♥️
👏👏👏👏. Loved every second of this interview. I never saw the karaoke 🎤 scene from that perspective 😢, I just focused on the obvious . That’s why this show was amazing, the minds behind it are just🔥
Thank you, Lisa, Edvin & Rojda for sharing some of the behind the scenes and for going deeper into the philosophy of the show. This discussion had lots of great insights that complemented very well the actual show. One particular aspect where the Young Royals stands above and beyond other shows is the prominent expression of the physical touch between people. Today's teens are growing up buried head to toe into consuming social media and my observation is that the physical non-sexual touch is completely missing from their interactions. Covid accentuate this even further. The touching experienced by today's youth does not have to be kissing, a simple hug, the touch of a hands complemented by asking a sincere question about well-being goes a long way. I hope more creators get inspired by your concept and will showcase the underappreciated value of a simple touch.
I have never gotten to hear people speak so deeply about a show before these have been amazing and so interesting to see how passionate they are and how deeply they think about everything and how complex it is. Truly a gift and very inspiring. thank you!
Many interesting things to discuss. The introduction to Marcus. I didn’t see him as very solid, able to laugh at himself, etc. If the karaoke scene had been a bit different, then maybe. There was no sense of him being insecure about his singing voice, he went all in and instead of being sweet and likeable, I just had to turn the sound down. If that scene had been about them connecting a bit through music it would have been amazing. Like Marcus jamming on a guitar and Simon singing with him or something, sharing glances and having a sweet moment where you could see a connection forming. Then, and if they had some scenes getting to know each other, I might have been able to see him as an alternative, as someone who might be better for Simon than Wilhelm. I also reacted to the “Bjærstads egen Simon Eriksson». Yeah, who the whole of Bjærstads knew who was because he was in a sex-tape right before christmas! I just really didn’t feel that they managed to show that this was how Simon would prefer a date to be. And he was completely heartbroken at this time. Wille had said that he loved him. I loved that they explored that feeling of not liking someone back who likes you more. Been there a few times, and it just feels so wrong, but you want to try, and you don’t want to disappoint the other person.
That was such a massive red flag! I got major creeps from that. But It's because of my experiences, and not everybody have such experience. A lot of people in the fandom liked him until episode 3 when Simon said he wasn't ready for something serious and Marcus didn't accept that but went all manipulation mode.
@@darktwistedlady Apart from that, getting into a relationship just to get over another one never is good advice. But very common advice I have gotten so often myself. So, I do not blame Simon's Baerstedt friends the least. They are real good friends and do their best.
i must say they know what they want from the show, and it's that dramatic shit that i love so much, it boils my blood down to my core and it's fantastic! I could easily say this is one of the most dramatic shows that can be even on pair with GoT or HoTR in terms of drama. A series done right! You cannot go wrong it
Thank you for sharing this with us. I love getting the perspective of each of them. This show has so much depth to it and many layers to each person’s story that they bring together and portray it all so well. I find Edvin quite extraordinary - to be so young and so reflective - it’s wonderful to witness. I love that we get to watch his (& Omar’s) careers unfold. I think that by being part of their fans, I am (we are) contributing to them which I appreciate since they are contributing so much to me. It’s a reciprocal relationship without even knowing them directly.
thank you for all these videos but particularly this one as it was just phenomenal!! only hoping to get more, the deep dives with everyone behind the scenes has me in a chokehold
I love this show so much and I love all the incredible people behind it. You all did an amazing job. This show it's beautiful and it's so important. Thank you. Can't wait for season 3.
I just wanna say, I just don't really like how the cast itself talks about Wilhelm. I am so attached to Wilhelm because of how relatable his reaction to everything is. His anxiety, him freaking out on things related to Simon, throwing up and all those events which occurred in Season 2 it was all so natural. His actions can be justified. His words, his little habits to lower down anxiety, him locking himself up in room. It's all what we are experiencing at least, I am. That's why, I really feel so weird when Edvin himself speaks about Wilhelm like this even though all of us know that he was the most relatable character of Young Royals. If we put aside their true love, pure relationships and all of the beautiful things which Young royals so beautifully showed on screen, Wilhelm's character in the second season had me here. I promise. 😭 Wilhelm is just..... I love him so much. Too much.😭
thank you for giving us YR content until s3 is out! complexity of characters is what I really like. no one is b&w. and very interesting points around portrayal of intimacy which this show does wonderfully.
For me this is one of the best series, very refreshing. I have never been so emotionaly invested in a movie/show before. The way Edvin and Omar portray love on the screen is so honest, they don't rush, they touch hands, they hug, their chemistry is extraordinary and they are able to potray love very beautifully. Omar just released a new song; Call me by your name, I've seen on IG story of a fan asked if this song was inspired by a film with the same title and he said no. He also said the song is about love (of course). i dont know somehow i think the song inspired by Wilhelm character in Young Royals. You may disagree, it's just that for me.
This is brilliant! I can never get enough of Young Royals. More please. One problem, it's in Swedish which is fine but I can't watch the participants as much while reading subtitles. So I'm learning Swedish but, it's hard! 🙂
Just watch several times, reading the subtitles first, focus on the faces the next time. (Or the other way round) (Also, in my view, content you really, really want to understand is the best way to learn a language. Beats schools and universities and language classes. One thing this age and time has gifted me with is the option to watch movies with original soundtracks. Plus all the stuff here on youtube with subtitles.)
I've started listening to several of Omar's songs. I just love his voice so much. I'm trying to be able to sing along, but I know I'm not getting it right yet! lol
12:27 I love how complex the main characters are (and the side characters too to a lesser extent). I am not an August hater. He has so many layers and such complexity, that I can't flatly hate him. It's a testament to Malte's brilliant acting showing all these layers so well. Sara too. I never know how I'll feel about Sara from one moment to the next! 13:48 That complexity and the fact that characters aren't black or white are things that I love about this series. People do make good and bad decisions, especially young people (but also older people).
Lisa Ambjörn just wrote on her social media that they couldn't reveal that Marcus turns out to be manipulative because they didn't want to give away too much since the interview was done in October before Season 2 was released.
"What other things make it stand out compared to other shows?"
"Omar Rudberg's vocal chords"
Edvin is Omar's biggest fanboy fr😭

I sometimes find it difficult to understand why Edvin says he couldn't understand Wille sometimes, cause I have developed such a soft spot for his character. I know he's made some mistakes and some things that are wrong, but I think he's in such a difficult position, going through so much pressure because of everyone's expectations over him, when he just wants to be free to be who he really is... Watching him suffer so much broke my heart during the whole two seasons.
I could listen to these amazing people talk for hours about Young Royals! Thank you Netty!❤
That’s why this show was amazing, the minds behind it are just🔥
i love the young royals content so much 😭
💜
Thank you Netty, Bestie been so good to us ❤
Oh you're so sweet 🥰
Truly a gift and very inspiring. thank you!
Thank you Netflix for these videos
❤
Thank you so muuchh Netflix for giving us this conversation in between these amazing people!! This was very enlightening!!
Keep staying loyal to the story - it results in the most beautiful show I have ever seen 💜
What a lovely, intelligent, insightful chat. Thank you. X
Oh yessssss. Truly titled THE YOUNG ROYALS EFFECT. Makes my heart feel so happy. Thank you Netflix. Keep content like this coming.... 💕 💕
20:38 time stamping this wise quote from edvin! thank u netty for this, we're getting fed so well 💜
“no one will sympathize with Wille” yeah okay 😂 wille has so many protectors lol 🥰
3:10 I love him. 😭💜
So sweet 🫶
i must say they know what they want from the show, and it's that dramatic shit that i love so much, it boils my blood down to my core and it's fantastic!
I could easily say this is one of the most dramatic shows that can be even on pair with GoT or HoTR in terms of drama.
A series done right! You cannot go wrong it
Lovely Edvin ❣️
Love this “round table” discussion!! So interesting to hear their thoughts and feelings 💜
The soundtrack is everything ❤ goosebumps every single time, I'm gonna miss the show after the very big end of s3 💔
they really thought there would be a "team marcus" LMFAOOO
Yes I think it’s really funny how they misjudged the audience there and thought we would actually love Marcus 😂😅
they all speak so well omg
edvin is a star
I love this show so much and I love all the incredible people behind it. You all did an amazing job. This show it's beautiful and it's so important. Thank you. Can't wait for season 3.
Could listen to him forever.
Too much.😭
😍😍😍😍😍💜👑 Season 3 hasn't even premiered and I'm already sad to hear it will be the last 😢🧣💜
lovely edvin💕
Everything they said is just spot-on
25 MINUTES????? THANK YOU AND LOVE YOU FOR THIS
🥰
thank you for giving us YR content until s3 is out! complexity of characters is what I really like. no one is b&w. and very interesting points around portrayal of intimacy which this show does wonderfully.
we've been blessed. THANK YOU
I hope there's long for edvin and omar doing intimate interview for at least 60 mins heheheheeeeee
really wish omar could have been apart of this conversation, would love to hear more of his take on s2.
ooooh yess, ...we did enjoy the second season Rojda ❤🔥 ...several times 🤣🤣 🥰
Edvin is smart.
He is brilliant in everything he does ! Acting , speaking, expressing subtles things. Stunning !!
a remarkably beautiful, profound, informative conversation
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! What a precious cast YR is 💜
For me this is one of the best series, very refreshing.
About ten years ago, I felt similarly when I discovered SMALLVILLE. Which, in a complex way, had led me here.
Omg I’m so happy 😭
never clicked this fast!
(Or the other way round)
(Also, in my view, content you really, really want to understand is the best way to learn a language. Beats schools and universities and language classes. One thing this age and time has gifted me with is the option to watch movies with original soundtracks. Plus all the stuff here on youtube with subtitles.)
@@Beatetemporaryhermit Absolutely. The exact reason I'm re-watching with Swedish subtitles.
@@Beatetemporaryhermit Exactly what I am doing ! And now I think I could play some scenes !🤣 ( Have written down the swedish subtitles too !)
I've started listening to several of Omar's songs. I just love his voice so much. I'm trying to be able to sing along, but I know I'm not getting it right yet! lol
Love the talk ❤
Patiently waiting for season 3
How they ended or left off season 2 makes me want to watch season 3 more.
14:09 those wore very wise words from Lisa! I agree 💯
it's so interesting that the real Sweden royal family has, indeed, a Latin root. The queen Silva is half Brazilian.
Finally a deep talk itw! You did not disappoint Netty 💜. This was very interesting! So happy to hear their thoughts about s2!! Tack så mycket 🥰
Edvin's English pronunciation is so good.
Loves my Edvin
25 minute interview? yes please 🤗
GOD TTHIS IS EVERYTHING I NEED OMFG
Yesssssss! Thank u Netty 💜
Edvin in each interview = find an excuse to praise Omar and sing
As he should. Omar's voice is pure magic.
That was good, enjoyed listening to that 😊
12:27 I love how complex the main characters are (and the side characters too to a lesser extent).
Thank you Netty
EDVIN IS OMARS BIGGEST FAN I SWEAR!!
I would be happy to learn Edvin how to have sympathy for Wille. Spending all my days feeling sorry for the prince.
Amazing discussion! 💜
A BLESSING
OMG YYAAAASSS
Thank you for this ❤
"How can you not love Marcus?" I have another question. How can you love him?
Lisa Ambjörn just wrote on her social media that they couldn't reveal that Marcus turns out to be manipulative because they didn't want to give away too much since the interview was done in October before Season 2 was released.
@@gerganakantcheva8176 The way they talk about it even sounds sarcastic
THANK YOU FOR THIS
Amazing interview :)
רציני אני מאוהבת באדווין הוא פשוט כלכך מושלם
Omggg deep talk
Sooo good :D
Love this! 😍🔥
THANK YOU FOR THIS ❤️

3:11 plzzz the lil✌️😭
