Airwolf and Blue thunder where designed for two different of environments. Airwolf having missiles, heatseekers specifically, pretty much decided the fight from the outset, especially if he'd lead with them instead of bothering with guns (for drama's sake of course)
Well, neither coper could of taken the other's gunfire. Airwolf uses 4 BMG 50 cals but its 2 big ones were 30mm autocannons vrs Blue Thunder's 20mm chain gun. In real life, 50 cals will tear modern tanks to pieces. But Airwolf had multiple air to air missiles including one specific as anti-helicopter and long-range targeting ability, much higher top speed, and 90% stealth. No contest.
@@matjov How about 30mm auto cannons? And Heat and AP 50 cals at the rate of fire Airwolf supposedly had, they would. But thats kinda the point, they are not real. Based on the fictional specs, Airwolf would toy with Blue Thunder before downing it. Actually, Airwolf would still beat anything in existence even today, including the Apaches, the F33s and the F35s. The only things that have improved in real-world specs are the computer systems avionics, such as target identification and acquisition.
True, based on the fictional specs -- Airwolf would have the combat advantage. Based on reality, the Gazelle (Blue Thunder) is a much faster helicopter than (Airwolf) Bell 222. The Bell 222 maxes out of 240 kph for top speed, the Gazelle can hit 310 kph.
One thing could beat it, the F-22 Raptor. Radar sig the size of a grasshopper. And the ONLY known aircraft capable of maintaining stealth at supersonic speeds. Combined with advanced targeting and hypersonic missile capability as well, it is the true air dominance, the best aircraft in the world, in its role, strike fighter. And some of them are even VTOL capable. The Lady's defenses would also be useless as it uses an advanced GPS lock-on targeting system. If there is anything better, it is ultra-top secret. Airwolf's launcher isnt larger enough for hypersonics. But the F-22 could only carry 2 missiles and maintain stealth, one hypersonic. So if the Lady could somehow get super lucky and avoid that one shot, she could have her way, if she can catch it.

I'm glad you liked this was video - this was one of my first Airwolf edits that I did! Unfortunately I am unable to log into this youtube account any more being that its a super old account.
Watched, and loved, both of these shows when I was a kid. Blue Thunder was cool, but... "The Lady" was/is PERFECT! Next to the Wolf, Blue Thunder is nothing more than an over-grown mosquito
I actually got to see one of the Blue Thunder Gazelles on display at OshKosh back in 1990. Believe it or not, Aerospatiale had wanted to build a version with armored canopies and a Gatling gun on the front, like the Huey Cobras. However, to do that particular mod would have made it too nose heavy to fly properly, so the idea was scrapped. I think the best they ever did was a light attack version with a couple rocket pods, and that's about it.
The Gazelle was a good bird for surveillance, the British Army Air Corps used them for that, they could also be fitted with TOW missles on port and starboard pods. The airframe was not suited to nose mounted surveilance gear or weapons, they ones on the film and tv show had that problem.
@1:34 Air Wolf is getting shot at and he doesn’t have his guns deployed..... yeah right! Blue thunder is cool but I’d take Air Wolf all day long. As goofy as it would be it would be an interesting movie!
In real life, Airwolf was a Bell 222A with some cosmetic parts added, which the main pilot for the show said made it fly better than before; take a look at a Bell 430 and tell me that front-end was not inspired by Airwolf's add-on nose. Blue Thunder had so much stuff added that it was too heavy to fly. The helicopter that flew in the movie was actually a series of flying models and special effect composites; the TV show just recycled movie footage. So as in-air performance goes, Airwolf wins hands down!
In a theoretical battle Airwolf would win, but in real life a military Gazelle (Blue Thunder) would have the upper hand every time for the simple reason that an armed version of the Bell 222 just doesn't exist :) Anyway, great video.
I love this! What kid, in the 80s, did not dream of a showdown between Airwolf and Blue Thunder. Thanks for fulfilling some old childhood dreams.

I was driving along I-10 in Summer 1984 when I saw Airwolf sitting on the ground at Desert Center so I pulled off. While looking at it from a distance, an RV came in and there was Ernest Borgnine driving!
This is so good I think I need a cigarette after I've seen this.
I was feeling the same.
Same here
Una excelente serie.
Única en su época.
🙏🌝👍🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁
Even Caitlin O’Shannessy in Airwolf would blow Blue Thunder out of the Sky !
Caitlin is now the last living crew member.
Al Lovett Are you really sure about that .? I don't remember hearing about all of the other cast members passing away. But I may have missed it.
Is Alex Cord ("Archangel") still with us?
Great theme music added greatly to all these 80s shows. So atmospheric back then
Great vid!the two choppers duel!
I fricken loved watching air wolf when I was a kid
Good job editing the 2 together.
String Fellowhawke is my favourite star when i was kid back in 1986..
That was actually enjoyable! Good edit!
I'm glad you liked this was video - this was one of my first Airwolf edits that I did! Unfortunately I am unable to log into this youtube account any more being that its a super old account.
Blue Thunder would lose to Airwolf.. it's not even close to being a match for The Lady.
Love it . Memories...
Watched, and loved, both of these shows when I was a kid. Blue Thunder was cool, but... "The Lady" was/is PERFECT! Next to the Wolf, Blue Thunder is nothing more than an over-grown mosquito
Airwolf would own Blue Thunder any day.
Airwolf would outmaneuver that flying tank
Always treasured this. The Lady vs. The Special!
Airwolf rules!!!
Good old days. Thanks to creators making our childhood special.
My All time favorite movie wonderful superb great. Jan Michael greatest

When String downs his visor.... GAME OVER !
Totally loved it great matchup
I'm way late to the party but WHY would you want to see those two fighting? They're both good guys!!!
Cops aren’t the good guys, neither are the firm (CIA)
Fantastic idea ,great homage well done👍👌🌟🌈👏🚠
I like this pretty cool.
RIP...my fav trio
@1:34 Air Wolf is getting shot at and he doesn’t have his guns deployed..... yeah right! Blue thunder is cool but I’d take Air Wolf all day long. As goofy as it would be it would be an interesting movie!
My All time favorite program wonderful superb great childhood memories. Jan Michael. Rest in peace.
Un a serie exelente,buenos talentos , gracias a todos hacen historia ❤❤❤
Great job!
Watched Airwolf nigh on every time it aired. The Blue Thunder movie is a must see too.
GENIUS!
We were truly blessed honestly 😊😊
The editing awesome,
Man I 'am out numbered! I always liked Blue Thunder better when I was a kid. I guess because of the movie. But, still liked Air Wolf too.
