@@ryans413 Idk where you live, but that is stupid. In my area, there are times where there are 15 car lines at a stop sign at certain intersections. If everything stopped for 5 seconds, that would cause a huge traffic problem.
@@top10cars2 no it wouldn’t it takes roughly 3-5 seconds to make a full stop look both ways proceed it’s not hard to do rolling stops are not stops. If you can’t do that hang up your keys you can’t drive and shouldn’t be driving.
But that is something called "negative training". You are not supposed to pay any attention to traffic on the stop-sign-protected cross street _until_ you stop completely at the sign.
Ain't nothing wrong with these. Coming to a full stop when there is no traffic or pedestrian in your way is a complete waste of kinetic energy and bad for the environment. Imagine the cumulative effect of all the gas and brake pads wasted by making unnecessary stops.
The reason most American drivers do this is overuse of stop signs. Where I come from (Europe), we don't use stop signs often. We only use them if the visibility is bad or there's a high crash rate at that intersection. For the most part, we use Yield (Give Way in the UK) signs which is basically legalizing the "california stop". You don't have to stop at one, you merely have to slow and look both ways, and be prepared to stop if a car comes. Because of that, drivers here actually respect stop signs and stop at them. As I see here, the stop signs are wrongly installed. There's a lot of traffic on the main road and no turning traffic in this video. They should've put the stop sign on the other road if this is an intersection, and if they're only there for the crosswalks, then remove them altogether.
Overused in California maybe, hence the name California roll. I've seen far more yield signs and even a highway roundabout in my hometown: Phoenix. It's all semantics anyways.
@@ryans413ya you ****ing genius let’s just come to a complete stop and put extra wear and tear on the body and vechile and waiste fuel BECAUSE then sign said so “school zone “ when you can clearly see there is no single person walking as far as the eye can see what a goofy a*** mother****er
The odd thing is that intersection had not a single traffic coming from the other road so at that point they should do a traffic study and remove the two stop signs on the major road and leave the stop at the T.
Man in chicago we have these things called ChiStops... where the people literally dont use their brakes at all at stop signs and just fly right through it. I'd rather this than what I see on a daily basis.
Every single one of these cars, except MAYBE, arguably, the black Mercedes coupe at 2:00 and and the red Hyundai SUV at the end, is perfectly safe and fine. Even those two worst ones aren't exactly dangerous. So unless this video is intending to demonstrate that the "California Stop" is good, I'm not sure what the point is.
It's because when people do this, they do it even when pedestrians are present. I've had this happen where I was already entering the crosswalk and got so close I was able to hit the car as it was going. The bad part of me knew he literally stopped a couple hundred feet away in a parking lot just to go sit down and eat food, and I really wanted to break a window like a vengeful ass.
I got a big ticket ( almost$200) for making a California stop at a right hand turn. Never again. Now I come to a complete stop. You know you stopped cause you can feel your head snap or jerk back. THEN I go.
Cmon! That’s a STOP to me! They went down to a very very slow crawl for three feet, that suffixes. Stopping and slowing down period, puts wear on your car and if you think about it damages the environment. It’s like speed bumps.. I think they’re nuisances they damage your suspension your brakes are nothing but annoyances as you drive... also, if you’re doing 26 on a 25 or 51 on a 50 you’re TECHNICALLY breaking the law! Some laws are practically impossible to abide by.
Stop signs are dumb asf. Rolling stops are ok. The stops signs are traffic lights with no timer, for locations with lesser cars during rush hours. The state will save money instead of implementing lights. Stop sign’s sole purpose to to determine who stops first, GOES first in an intersection. As long as the driver is aware that no other cars are in the intersection or have stopped before them, these “rolling stops” are perfectly safe and ok. No one should stop COMPLETELY. It messes up the flow of traffic and drivers can and WILL honk at you.
Are you out of your mind? You are just going to throw the rules of the road out your window? That is negative training, and it reflects very badly on your driver's licence.
I wonder if this was filmed in socal. I really never see this up where I am. What you see instead is people stopped five to ten feet from the stop sign, that way they can cut you off. If you're driving a vehicle, you should be able to make it to within two feet of the stop line.
I’m so tired of traffic anarchy. Most people have no respect for the law. If the nanny police aren’t around, they do whatever they want to do. They go over the speed limit in school zones! Pisses me off!
IMO the only reason there are so maby stop signs is because parents failed to impart the "look twice both ways" before crossing. Nowadays pedestrians are so out of it that they cross without even looking and cars are the problem? Fuck no. The day police enforce and gives tickets of the same amount to pedestrians crossing illegally than a car not making a full stop will be the day I respect them. Until then, double standards all the way. Like they do. Sincerely, a person who looks 3 times both ways crossing the road.
You really don’t know how to drive, do you? This was fine, excluding two cars. No pedestrians, no oncoming traffic, and enough time to observe while rolling. It’s not a busy street. You are making a deal out of it when it doesn’t matter.
This intersection (3-way) was next to a school that had just let out children 15 minutes prior to recording of the video. I noticed that even with children present, many drivers failed to stop, hence it prompted me to make the video.
@@EdMagikTV if there are no pedestrians or possible pedestrians there is no issue with a slow rolling stop. No police officer who doesn’t have to meet a quota will pull you over, neither is it morally wrong. Given the drivers are sane and visually perceptive, this is just fine.
I live across the street from a police station and all day long I see this happening. I even see the cops doing it, cars actually speed up and race their engines as they pass the Station. Zero Fuks given to the law
A stop sign means "reduce your momentum to zero". 1:39 and 2:09 - Those are actually ❎'s. I did not see either of those cars' wheels stop turning. Sometimes, when I am crossing on foot in a crosswalk next to a stop sign, and I see a car coming toward me that looks like it isn't going to stop completely, I stand still in the car's way until I see its wheels completely stop turning, then I move out of the way. I hope you showed this video to your local police department, so citations could be mailed out.
No 2:09 is a ✅ because the wheels were stationary for even a moment. All California law dictates is that you get your speed to zero, not your momentum. In fact, you know you've stopped completely to zero mph because your car will momentarily have negative momentum. There is no rule on how long you must stay at zero either in terms of time. You just have to stop long enough for traffic and pedestrians to clear, which in this case, is essentially near zero.
Also if a cop doesn't witness a traffic violation in California (unless said traffic violation is the cause of a misdemeanor or felony crime), they can't accept vigilante video, specifically in this day and age because you could doctor it. You also don't necessarily know who was driving, and at least in California, you have to have proof of who was driving. It's why speed and stop cameras (which I believe are no longer legal in CA) require a photo of the person in most jurisdictions. Though in others, you may be liable of a violation done by a driver you allow to use your vehicle. In most of the US though, if you show it clearly wasn't you (this is important for like rental car stuff, say toll violations), they're going to dismiss it.
Imagine arguing over a stop sign, when it's intended to create more safety, and literally only adds 2-3 second max to your day. You could stop at 10 stop signs while driving, and only add literally 20-30 seconds to your day. Noone is stopping at 100+ stop signs in a day. So , why give the police any chance to ticket you, and why possibly hurt or injure someone or an animal etc when you can just , stop for a second? It'll be ok lol. Alot more to gain, than to lose. And also remember, the wealthy don't rush dude. Change your mentality to get different results out of life, and you won't feel the need to rush anyway.
The only time I see people stop is when that cop right is right besides you. Funny enough, the cops never make a full stop either.
I'm starting to believe that Californian cops don't give tickets for not making a complete stop because they do it too, duty and off-duty.
@@bryantgomez7135 It depends on the cop mostly, and his mood.
