My actifeed only goes up to 40. I’m trying to stitch on a new era cap which is really thick and my top thread is stitching so loose. I have my actifeed set to 26. What am I doing wrong? My needle is sharp 90/14. Other caps stitched out great but this brand of cap is giving me trouble because it’s so thick
Hi Laura, good question. Turns out there is quite a bit different and we don’t really support the big red anymore. Consider an upgrade to the EMT16X. Here is the info melco.com/embroidery-articles/melco-emt16x-commercial-embroidery-machine/
The needles are the same overall length, but on the KK needles the shaft it longer and the shank is shorter. This allows thicker material to be sewn. KK needles are a great choice for puff hats.

Can a design have to much detail or too narrow edges for puff?
Yes, we have the best luck with puff satin stitches between 3 and 11MM wide. To thin and there is almost no raised effect.
