Hi there! Thanks a lot for the video.. helped me a lot to get an idea how to do it ;) I didn't have to remove silencer at all and was able to get off the wheel ;) Had a struggle with the bolt holding it so I skipped that part..
Conditions were not great so I just lifted the rear end of the bike, my friend chucked pile of wood under the bike and then I took of the wheel ;) Just for the others to know there is more spartan way to do so ;)
Thanks again.. many happy miles.. tho I know the video is older ;)
Take care :)
re rear mudguard removal..its far easier to undo the 4 lower side bolts..2 either side,,this way the chrome sides, bag bars and mudguard comes off as a complete unit...when putting back together put the bolts nearest the seat in first.
When removing rear mudguard....take the four mounting bolts from frame(chrome brakets).whole lot comes off then...you wont damage paintwork.....
There are bolts that are fine to mess with and bolts that are not... especially allen bolts
If you have to remove the tire again on a bike like that, if you lift it high enough, the whole unit slides back off of the notch on the rear of the swing arm, all you have to do then is angle the wheel out to one side. I do it with my 650 classic with the full rear fender still in place. No need for the extra fender removal step.
I used coachpaint thats tough as nuts... but its all a bit moot now as its smashed up ( along with my self) after a car decided to uturn in front of me....
If you have an excuse to remove the fender, do it! because you can then get at the points that are very prone to rust.. You can check them and add some protective spray, paint or greese :)
Bike I bought mudguard bolts solid so took of with high jack way. Do you know in imperial units the wheel, brake, drive & shaft are 4st 2lb.
Are you asking for torque settings?
It is a heavy bike... About 247kg for the classic (xvs650A)!
Ok :-)
No just saying the rear wheel as a unit are bloody heavy. I have grandchildren that weigh less. than 4st 2lb or 26.3084 Kilograms.
