i thought i was going to bite my tongue off to keeo from laughing. The TI's set it up so he was first in line for a haircut. the barber was a retired vietnam era vet - with a long pony tail. barber asked the kid if he wanted to keep his long locks - the kid said ye, the barber said "ok. CATCH!" and off it went! great videos
hahaha when I got my hair shaved in boot camp, i tried being funny and told the guy " just take a little bit from the top" he responded " shut the fuck up and sit down" lol.. oh good memories..lol
Rainbows Rainbows everywhere, My buddy Kelly sat in front of me and I was trying so hard not to laugh when he had the Ben Franklin thing goin on. When we got back to the dorm we were covering our faces with the training manuals because we were laughing so hard. Our Sgt. was screaming at us no laughing, no touching your heads while we were in buzzby's. Brings back memories. Crewchief years ago.
I don't understand why Marines always post comments scoffing this vid. AF recruits don't have to learn by the infantryman perspective like in the Army or Marines, so why even pretend they have to? They learn by the aircrew perspective, that's why it's different. I'm a Marine by the way.
LMAO the guy at 40 sec looking around was me! I deff don't remember the haircuts though. Good times lol. I'm still in actually.. Seems like 10 years ago.
Yep, things haven't changed alot at Lackland since I went thru basic back in 1979. Only difference is back then long hair was in style, so you wouldn't have seen many coming in with such short hair. In those days the hair really piled up!
They do bring them in at night or at least they did when I went through (Dec 2002). But I think it depends on the Instructor how much sleep they get that first night. My group got in after 2200 and went to bed around midnight and was given 8 hours. Of course, I didn't sleep the whole way through, expecting them to bust in only a few hours later.
I went through BMT in 2001.That old guy yelling has been there forever and he always liked to think he's a TI.That Training Instructor for those of you that don't know.
lol I thought it was funny how no one ever smiles, so when I got my haircut and they filmed it, I sat there smiling. Kinda got yelled at that this isn't supposed to be fun, but it was well worth it :D
Definetly sir! Because you take a MTI's fun away then they take away your smile :( Lol...BMT was good thought, out of curiosity, how was it back when you went through? People tell me the military in general is a different world now then it was back in the old days...always kinda wondered what that means exactly so if you don't mind educating me it would be appriciated! Thanks sir!
@YoungBoy0816 They use the crude BMI system, it varies greatly. I mean I had to drop like 20 pounds and I literally couldn't drop anymore without falling below a safe weight. It is kind of ridiculous. If you have a larger frame and more muscle, you will weigh a fuck ton more. Just be glad you don't look like him and the fact he was able to get in, probably means he doesn't have much muscle mass. You will feel a lot better than him when you meet the pull ups bar.
From what I understand, female recruits often have their hair cut to chin-length, but the armed forces actually don't allow servicewomen to have very short hair.
@danteslight YEAHH..i played football through out highschool soo i have soo much weight & muscle its krazy but my recruiter told me to jus work out my neck muscles 2 make my bmi go up..but i might try the droppin weight approach too.
@afterthefact15 No kidding. For the Army's part, the old barber didn't give a damn if he mowed down sores on some poor private's head. 2 or 3 guys I did Basic with came out of their haircut looking like they had head wounds. rofl
@scotty10211 Your still wrong.... though yes I have answered myself before.... The point of the BMT haircut is to put everyone on the same level.... All of a sudden your not an individual you all have the same haircut the same uniform.... also its kept short after BMT to look professional
Don't Get your hair cut before, My Dad was in the army, and I'm a future airman (Next year hooah!), and he said that if you shave it off before, they'll yell at you and shave the top only, making it look like youre balding. I'm just gonna let them do it. Thats what theyre there for.
I'm guessing you've never attended a Catholic school or one that required uniforms? Or even worked somewhere with strict dress code/uniforms? Similar concepts. (Yeah, I know, ass old comment is old. lol)
Thats is true, at least in the 326th it was, that, and wearing an AF shirt the night of "breaking in" made you an easy target quick, my advice to any new folks, don't go with a shaved head or anything AF related on, you will get singeled out quick...Side Note, any fellow 3P Defenders around here? :)
I don't know why some of them look so upset. In most cases, it is definitely an improvement on the ugly haircuts they walked in with. Now at least they are presentable.
OH damn, in my tech school days, we weren't allowed to cut our own hair just because it "looks like crap". With shaving kits, airmen didn't want to spend money with those shitty AAFES barbers. We settled with skin cuts because those were easy to do...don't have to deal with even cuts, tapering, and what not.
@produccionesterrero Hell yeah im wonderin the samething im tryna get into the airforce and i have 2 drop 5%body fat n this guy is like 4x's as wide as me..
@Pasguiroq Um, to keep the hair from going itno your face while in war. Thats just what I think lol. But tbo, I think most if not all people who join the military and get their hair cut(shaved) look better than they did with their hair. No homo.
it easy for us who sport the low cuts...will i have a mohawk, a short one. we just treat it as a bad haircut...my hair grows fast..by the 3rd week i will be hunting down somebody who can do mohawks. BUT i feel for the "long hair don't care" dudes...bye bye long pretty hair.

August, 1983. I had hair to my shoulders. It was hot and losing all my hair felt good.
hahaha when I got my hair shaved in boot camp, i tried being funny and told the guy " just take a little bit from the top" he responded " shut the fuck up and sit down" lol.. oh good memories..lol

I don't understand why Marines always post comments scoffing this vid. AF recruits don't have to learn by the infantryman perspective like in the Army or Marines, so why even pretend they have to? They learn by the aircrew perspective, that's why it's different.
I'm a Marine by the way.

I went through BMT in 2001.That old guy yelling has been there forever and he always liked to think he's a TI.That Training Instructor for those of you that don't know.
Sweet, so is this part of the video they give you after Basic Training is done?
lol I thought it was funny how no one ever smiles, so when I got my haircut and they filmed it, I sat there smiling. Kinda got yelled at that this isn't supposed to be fun, but it was well worth it :D
back in 1974 when i was there they had the old kind of clippers.....with out a vac...
I remember those days.
Definetly sir! Because you take a MTI's fun away then they take away your smile :( Lol...BMT was good thought, out of curiosity, how was it back when you went through? Does this video also show immunizations being given???
@nopedamnit Doesn't hurt at all feels like running a comb over your head. In fact it was kind of nice to be able to sit down for a minute.
If u have a huge scar on the back of ur head are u able to have and inch of hair?
this was 2 months after I came in on september 13 2005. this was a fun day.
at 2:38 that dude looks like he was about to fall asleep haha
@MoovieMane it depends on your height. if your over they measure your muscle mass.
@209mann
Lol, you don't pay for anything once you are in to the airforce, hell they even give you $400 for supplies right when you get there.
@YoungBoy0816
They use the crude BMI system, it varies greatly. I mean I had to drop like 20 pounds and I literally couldn't drop anymore without falling below a safe weight. It is kind of ridiculous.

Does no one ever think of shaving their hair al off before they leave? Would be a lot less painful.
@StylemasterKaze They were there back in 07 bro i remember them.
Those were the days.........
They still run the trimmer over your head. Don't ask me why but they do.
LMAO @ the kid with the fo-hawk at 0:41

@afterthefact15 No kidding. For the Army's part, the old barber didn't give a damn if he mowed down sores on some poor private's head. 2 or 3 guys I did Basic with came out of their haircut looking like they had head wounds. rofl
That’s me at 0:40 looking down. I can’t believe that was almost 14 years ago.

Can you buy those vacuum clippers somewhere?
i was there in 1974...and i told the barber...just a little off the top please...lol...i see they have new clippers now...they use a vac..
@Twicelighter so everyone looks the same. all start from the same spot
@scotty10211 Your still wrong.... though yes I have answered myself before.... The point of the BMT haircut is to put everyone on the same level.... All of a sudden your not an individual you all have the same haircut the same uniform.... also its kept short after BMT to look professional
Good old Slackland! Some of these scared looking guys are staff sergeants now!

I'm guessing you've never attended a Catholic school or one that required uniforms? Or even worked somewhere with strict dress code/uniforms? Similar concepts.
(Yeah, I know, ass old comment is old. lol)
none of them came out bleeding thats no fun. I remember in the army most of us came out bloody and with cuts all over our head.

The TI's must have had fun with the guy @ 40 seconds.
What length is it?
i now have a skin bump on my head from those hot ass blades!!!
I remember my BMT haircut...
Not the air force. They don't cut all that hair off in that branch!!!!
A lot of these guys already had haircuts so short that it's the next best thing to being bald. What the hell did they need a haircut for?
The recruits look really scared lol

I don't know why some of them look so upset. In most cases, it is definitely an improvement on the ugly haircuts they walked in with. Now at least they are presentable.
