Nick is more well spoken and charismatic than guys like maxx chewning and Christian Guzman. He had way more potential in building a brand over those two guys.
Nick when are you gonna upload again man? I found my og Nick wright bodybuilding hoodie from way back in the day and reminded me of you. Hope you’re doing well man!
Look up Kenneth Lain "The Mighty Texan" a one-time world's greatest benchpresser. First to hit 708lbs bench on October 7, 1989. He held multiple records in different weight classes.
650 was his official best, and that was in a single ply shirt. The 708 wasn’t sanctioned I’d boast about Ted Arcidi from Buffalo being the first to bench over 700 in comp, but that was also in a single ply shirt. We need to be honest with ourselves here and not be biased
650 is has official best? What is that based on, his Open Powerlifting entry? If so , keep in mind that Open Powerlifting's records are far from complete once you get past 20 years back. Yes, Ken benched in a single ply shirt, but he had multiple 700+ lb lifts done in sanctioned competition, his best being a 722 in a WPC meet, iirc. The dude wasn't getting featured on the cover of Powerlifting USA as the new all time record holder for gym lifts or anything unsanctioned. Ted Arcidi literally came out of retirement to reclaim the record from him.
Agreed that it shouldn’t count. In addition to the spotting, he bounced it off his chest. That said, with coaching and some dedication to powerlifting training he likely could have hit 700. A solid arch, better bar path, and optimal hand placement all make a big difference.
Hey Nick, I think you should get back onto the UA-cam grind. I loved watching you and it seems a simple long form content like you used to do is killing it.
💯Yeah, but I have no doubt had he trained for it and learned powerlifting technique, he would have hit 700. Just imagine being able to still lift that heavy while doing NFL practice. Powerlifters turn benching into a high-level skill while Larry was just brute forcing the weight.
You said on one of your videos you train bench 2-3 times a week. Stressing the importance of frequency. How many reps do you leave in reserve on each day???
It would be a bad idea for an active NFL player to compete in powerlifting. Too much risk of an injury that could seriously interfere with the big-money NFL career.
Of course it doesn’t count. The fact that a football player who isn’t a trained power lifter can even do that amount assisted is crazy. Have a lot of respect for his strength. If you took 700 lbs off the rack it would cut 99% of guys in half.
I can’t believe you even have to make this video Nick…anyone who’s even remotely into lifting knows this already…great gym lift but not even close to a legitimate lift.
Anyone who takes lifting serious wouldn't count it period.
Larry Allen is one of the greatest athletes ever. Dude ran a 4.8 forty yard dash at 325ibs. While benching 600+. Absolute freak of nature
Nick Wright, Matt Ogus, Scott Herman, Mike Chang, Hodgetwins, Timbahwolf, Athlean X, CT Fletcher, the real OG’s
True. Add Scooby to that list too.
@@tonyh1345Oh yes Scooby!
Eliott Hulse. Marc Fitt, Luimarco
Chris Lavado, Maxx Chewning, Christian Guzman
Chris jones
RIP Larry Allen
Allen was a stud’s stud!
Ur 100% right Nick!!!
Nick come back and do videos weekly. This video gave me hardcore 2012/13 nostalgia.
I hate when people grab the bar like that. That never counts because you can't tell how much pressure they are helping push the bar up with
Nick is more well spoken and charismatic than guys like maxx chewning and Christian Guzman. He had way more potential in building a brand over those two guys.
He still has
It’s not petty, it’s just simple fact. He didn’t do it solo.
Great video Nick!

Hey nick how are you just wondering whatever happen to Dan bergs? I remember he was strong as

@BUFFALO_cougar_slayer Thanks for the input. In the book I have it doesn't say single ply.

@@bad71ableyou are correct
Makes you realize how strong someone like Larry wheels is, dude is stronger than Larry Allen while being lean as fuck
Definitely doesnt count, but pretty bad ass range of motion with the close grip and pretty much no arch
Agreed that it shouldn’t count. In addition to the spotting, he bounced it off his chest. That said, with coaching and some dedication to powerlifting training he likely could have hit 700. A solid arch, better bar path, and optimal hand placement all make a big difference.
Nick. What are your thoughts on reverse grip bench press
They’re fuckin’ dope. My favorite bench accessory
Try it with a talon grip. Safer, more secure, and more comfortable. Check out Jimmy Kolb’s reverse bench tutorial vid. Game changer for me
@@BUFFALO_cougar_slayer i was thinking of doing it as a main exercise. Due to past injuries i struggle doing regular bench 🙄

Not only was Larry that strong he’s was super fast. Look up him rundown saints lb after pick

@3:00 well said, not even a power lifter just a footballer
Spot on
iam with you all the way
dude has 630 easily in the tank. That is ridiculous considering he is not a powerlifter but an nfl legend.
So does Nick still actively post on any social media?
Watch Siamand Ramand Iranian paralympic athlete in bench press 310 kg
I said the same thing years ago and people called me a hater.🤣
Nick, I got to know who you are passing the crown to for online workout videos ?
Hey brother hope all is well
where did you go?
Nick, great video. Also, are you still trading?
Come back to powerlifting we miss you on this side
always said this but he probably has 600
It would be a bad idea for an active NFL player to compete in powerlifting. Too much risk of an injury that could seriously interfere with the big-money NFL career.
I feel like playing football is more dangerous than powerlifting.

Nice video as always Nick, can you do review on Andrey Smaev he is a russian beast, you need to talk about him !
LMAO who tf said larry hit 808x2 😂😂😂
And he claimed natty so it might be a bit more ridiculous than he gets credit for
This is a clear no lift
Didn't count because he didn't arch like he's possessed by a demon.
If you would just remain consistent and upload more often your views would eventually skyrocket.
Who cares, though? lol not trying to be mean but why does this all matter?
Super strong but not a real lift too many hands on the bar.
I can’t believe you even have to make this video Nick…anyone who’s even remotely into lifting knows this already…great gym lift but not even close to a legitimate lift.
His spotters did not assist him
did you like not understand the entire point of the video?
Please let's not put Larry (3 spotters) Allen and 700 lbs bench press in the same sentence
Who cares?!! I wish I could bench half of that. I'm still stuck on low 300s.
