💟 Thought that when you turned up Bolens Creek you were just cutting across to bypass/access to the head of Pensacola above where Pensacola Road(SR-197)had been washed out by Cane River until you turned around at Low Gap FWB Church. I saw where the Woody’s homes were damaged. Also those homes along the creek to the left as you began to pull up the mountain grade(the sharp right turn on Google Maps). There was a dirt road that passed by those houses along the creek that eventually became the logging road we used a couple of times to access the “Balsam Mine area” to camp and pick huckleberries. Once with my late paternal grandfather and another time with his old logging buddy and Georges Fork neighbor, the late Garvel Honeycutt(our elder deacon at Young’s Chapel) before they passed.💟💟 It’s where we all lost a shooting contest to my Grandpa. 🤠 There was also a rock(larger than a man could even budge)flipped over and the remaining evidence of a robbed bumblebee’s nest that had been hidden beneath it.🐻 We stopped going up there because the Balsam Mine area had been cleared out back in there and the huckleberry bushes that existed for generations were gone. Although this was usually told as being for forest fire reasons, I had heard that it was actually for the military to practice maneuvers(especially helicopter). The area/terrain was supposedly similar to that around Serbia, Croatia and Kosovo and this was just before the Serbian-Croatian War, so the hillbilly rumors made more sense🤷🏻♂️ Also noticed that some of the private driveway bridges survived and the private driveway tiles across the creek were blown out by the rocks, trees, debris and water because they trapped and didn’t hold up to the force of it, rather than allowing the water and debris to keep moving downstream.
