Novak Djokovic: Ultimate Strategic Guide

- A tactical guide highlighting the best points from some of Novak Djokovic's favorite plays.
Novak Djokovic is one of the most precise players on the tour and as such, he consistently executes plays with pinpoint accuracy. These are some of Novak's favorite plays that he uses time and time again to dominate players.
Notes:
-This list is by no means comprehensive
-Novak often uses multiple plays within a single point and transitions between plays very well, making him less predictable while adding variety to his game
Overview:
-Groundstroke variations
-Dropshot plays
-Slice plays
-Approach plays
-Serve 1-2 punches
-Return
This deserves more views
These tactics are not uncommon but there are three things Djokovic does different than other players
- he can change his forehand from slow high loop to fast flat, without changing his preparation and without losing consistency
- he can change the direction at the very last moment, so he can outsmart his opponent who's moving into the other
- he can place the balls very close to the lines, both deep and wide
These things set him apart from other top players whose shots are more predictable, more similar and with a higher margin of error. It might not be as spectacular as Federer's shot making or Nadal's power, but it's overall more effective.
That and his tremendous ability to return and neutralize serve advantage of course.
can alcaraz develope this ?

helpful, high quality stuff
Very very nice analysis 👏🏻

Thanks Sahil, glad you enjoyed it!

pls show the fans the semi final at RG between Federer and Novak from 2011. Epic!
6:46 gonna try to use this one
The best ever tennis player ever 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸☦️☦️☦️🐐🐐🐐
I think and would guess that Novak’s greatest asset is stamina and unforced errors? He lets his opponents vitality get beneath his own vitality toward the end, and this is where he has an “edge” to just get over an opponent. He’s not known for his powerful serve, powerful forehands, powerful backhands, powerful volleys…………he ought to be known for the more subtle attributes. And I believe it’s his stamina and unforced errors. And mental concentration under pressure.
If only Nadal, Federer and Murray saw this video ten years ago.. :(
Novak’s game will be studied for decades to come. Coaches will use his example from teenage coaching to professional levels
Fascinating. The shots look so easy on paper but nobody can execute them as well as Djokovic.
Cause his balance to hit from any where on the court is superb…
At beginning this man was comedian who used to make people laugh by impersonation of different players. Today he became monster who eats best warriors.
And all he had to do was flip a switch.
@@mahih1493 It took a lot of work. In 2010, after a doctor determined that Djokovic was allergic to gluten and was lactose intolerant, he completely changed his diet to cut out gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. Changing one's diet so drastically is definitely not easy, especially for someone who loved eating pizza and grew up in Serbia, where bread and pasta are dietary staples. But he loved tennis so much that he was willing to change his entire lifestyle to improve.
He was acting like comedian, and he was mocking Nadal and Federer, because he was aware of HIS own potential to become BETTER player than they were. And he took advantage of it, through hard work and dedication.
Tennis is so often about 2 really good shots in a row.
Great vid
Summed up: make your opponent move and punish him in the clear corner. Tennis is so simple ideally, but it takes a genius to perfect those thing in a pinpoint fashion.
Novak has a great balance of power and control, his control is exceptional..
The Slice DTL and Forehand DTL is one of my favourite combinations cause the opponent mostly plays cross so its quite predictable.
Technically should be called a tactical guide. Strategy is your overall game plan eg. Expose the backhand
He just hits the ball where it needs to go. Shot selection is by feel and instinct and novak is one of the best. Sure you can have a game plan, but these are all in the moment decisions
its everything. Just knowing which shot to use and when.
Now, that's Novak A-level game, beating the shit out of federer, nadal and murray. lol
This is literally just every tactic in tennis.
Video TITLE: how to play tennis at the highest level
This is very helpful, Novak's technique will be observed and taught to youngsters for decades to come.
So basically Djokovic plays the same varied patterns as all the other pro players just with higher quality strokes and better execution under pressure.
Well, I’d say that both Djokovic’s forehand and backhand are among the best in the tour, so he can dominate play on both sides. He doesn’t center his game around forehand or serve, like berritini, who I don’t can consistently use any of the backhand patterns.
Ultimately Excellent Video and very very informative for the future generation tennis players...really liked your video... 👍 Thanks for uploading it...
Any new updates ? I am looking forward for his new mentality and raising consistency since 2021, his service game serve and volleys , much more efficient ending points quicker and smarter
Djokovic is a really good strategist, but this video doesn't show any strategy, more than a combination of winning points put together.
Ye he's unreal
Great Rivals bring out the best in each other.
Love how he elevates his game against one of the great Nadal.
Even though he has arguably one of the best backhands in tennis history he chooses to run around it and hit as many forehands as he can. Yet people still dare to call him a pusher.
he makes winners with his forehand and dictates the game on offensive side with taht shot, his backhand is more uses on counter attack and defense, and less on offense
I want Novak Djokovic forehand and backhand analysis and Novak forehand grip position backhand grip position close view
Pure point construction
GOAT 🐐 NOLE
Thanks for the video, but what does this have to do with strategy? It would be more fitting to call this video "variety of shots"... I would love someone with a much better knowledge of tennis to explain why a certain shot is the right one at any given moment, and why a certain shot is the wrong one at that moment, and what should have been done differently. now that would be a video I would love to see and analyze.
Most of it is to do with the ability to change directions seamlessly. Now that itself is bloody difficult. Medvedev is one of the next-gen players who can do this well right now.
This doesn't qualify as an analysis at all. The two last shots of a rally are the consequences of the tactics before. Simply saying he uses the x court and than dtl on both fb and bh and fb inside out is so obvious. Tennisnerd has better stuff in some interviews with a guy i don't remember the name of
Presently his drop shots are best even better than Federer's.
Superb Analysis
the summary is he can hit all kinds of shots from both sides to where the opponent is far away from
Simple but efficient. He may not play as flashy as Federer or Nadal, but the man does not have a weakness. Goat!
Apart from the overhead. That’s definitely a bit of a weakness, compared to the top 100 players.
Honestly I wish more people appreciated the strategy of Djokovic. It’s probably what accounts for at least the majority of his winners. It can seem simple in certain cases but it’s really not.
Golpes executados com perfeição, sem dúvidas o melhor tenista do mundo.
This is very useful thank you for this
Excellent
Nole's set ups are so sound man
Great analyses and collections!! Many thanks!!
Most of the examples are vs nadal 😆. He loves nadal's spin as he hits ball early (unlike most of nadal's opponents)

Fantastic video!
Glad you liked it!
@@tennispros6833 very good video man 😎👍
Bravo !
Thanks!
Basically by opponents you mean Nadal
Super 👍 👌👍👌👍💪
Unfortunately he doesn't have as much variations at the net.
yes thats his less control part of his game, all his volleys and smashes are predictable
All I see in the first minutes is "left - right" technique :D
Any suggestions on the next video? Federer, Nadal, or Sinner?
Federer would definitely be interesting. Maybe dustin brown or bernard tomic??? XD
Sinner
Sinner
Federer
Federer!! He has so much variety and uses the slice more etc.
Would love to see one for fed!
Djokovic only interesting to watch against Nadal)
Against everybody but his haters are unable to appreciate his legendary accuracy on tennis courts
