- Опубліковано 11 бер 2023
- On today's show, Adam visits Penn Jillette in Las Vegas where the topics range from magic to music. Penn tells the story of how he met his partner Teller, their show which is now the longest running show in Las Vegas history and most tickets sold. He tells us about his new jazz album, the most confident person he'd ever seen on stage and the most famous magicians ever.
Get a nice feeling from this, the guys chilling on a couch chatting is great.
I saw Penn and Teller several years ago in Tulsa, OK. They put on a great show and took photos with anyone that wanted one after the show. They are a real class act!!!!
Thank you Adam Carolla and Penn Jillete. I needed this Relaxed conversation.
Great interview/chat free flowing and interesting. I love how Adam talks about Phil the Juggler, won’t forget him talking about his friends passing for the first time and him crying on the show. Showed some real vulnerability and he really keeps the memory-flame of his friend lit when he talks about him. Thanks guys.
Love Penn and Teller! Great show in Vegas. Love Bullshit too.
Their show is great no matter how many times I go; I echo how great this DUO is and how friendly they are to the fans after the show. Outstanding guys.
Funny how two people talking on a couch is way better than a setup studio setting.
Amazing interview!
Your best show eeevvvver
This is a great setup. Adam by himself is incredible.
Adam being quit is even better
If only he would take a shower once in a while.
Had to laugh at that section about bottled water. I bang on about this all the time. The bottled water industry are full of geniuses. 40 years ago people went all day without water but now no-one dare leave the house without bottled water. A global multi-billion dollar industry generated from literally nothing. Kudos.
Truly great episode
Fantastic show. Two of my favorites together again. Two highly intelligent people having a great conversation. Two different sides of the political spectrum and it’s perfect.
I grew up with Penn being one of literally maybe 3-4 openly libertarian people in any kind of media. Carolla slowly grew into a libertarian without ever knowing what that is. I used to listen to Penn's podcast weekly and I still have no idea what the hell happened.
@@promontorium what happened was the libertarian party got co opted by the alt right, pushing the more principled libertarians, like Penn, out.
That was awesome Adam .
The way Jillette described Teller is valuable to magic history and will be clipped endless times.
What did he say and when?
@@xplaybwoix 29:10 Not sure if this is the only part but it's where he started talking about Teller.
Decades ago, I bought a Penn and Teller book of magic tricks and pranks. My favorite is the one where you have a pizza delivered that is decorated like a card that your guest had chosen earlier in the evening. You keep guessing the wrong card, then the pizza shows up and it is the correct card - like a three of clubs made in pepperoni pieces.
Carolla needs to get back to interviewing Penn more frequently. This is like interview 3 in maybe 10 years and they've covered the same topics every time because I assume they forgot they already talked about it last time.
The people commenting on this don’t understand how significant these two people are and that they’re captured together in a green room like this.
I love Penn, it's been so long since he stopped by on the podcart. Remember his classic dop about the face being eating by a tiger? haha
My grandpa worked construction and he drank beer all day. Even on the job. He never drank a drop of water.
Beers is 90 to 96 percent water so you might want to rethink that statement
Outstanding interview. It was 1:43 minutes and I was left wanting more.
Over Adam's left shoulder !! The display of goodies, Doritos, etc .... "lol" and them both talking about all the foods and goodies at meetings etc !
Love Penn’s honest humility, his non-alcoholism, his politically-progressive atheism, and his eloquence in speaking.
Two of the greatest examples of the gift of gab
What a great interview. Super interesting.
I also couldn’t stop thinking Adam looked like real life version of Hank Hill.
Adam is an example for me how I'm not a fan of his politics but I like him and he's a great interviewer. Would be cool if more people could see people with multiple sides, complex not just like people in ur tribe.
AC was saying on eating potatoes, "your not loosing weight you're just getting dominion over yourself." That is exactly the point of "fasting" something many Christians do as part of practicing their faith.
I've always SO enjoyed listening to this guy. I don't share many of his opinions or ideologies or political views, but I very much appreciate his candor and impressive intelligence and knowledge about so many things.
Smart people talking - lovely !
Saw Penn and Teller at the Rio about 4 years ago. It was good, but as performers they kinda rush through the show. They have done it so many times? It felt like they got up on stage, and were rushing to get off. Enjoyed it, but it wasn't a peak event. Enjoyed much more of their televised work.
Fascinating interview. Thank you.
Penn rules!!!! Always loved him & Teller.
Penn always has something interesting to share.
I love that dude
I was a fan of Penn for years, saw him in Vegas twice. Then he developed TDS, and now I wouldn't walk across the street to see him.
trump lost
@@numbersix9468 Trump the movement lives on. Trump the man lives rent-free in most of the Democratic socialist's heads. Being you felt a need to comment on a 3-week-old comment tells me he's living large in your head.
I could stomach him as a libertarian, with respect toward his ethos of self reliance. I will have to check out the TDS that may be a Bridge too far.
@@johnheath4305 me too. I thought he was a good rep of libertarian but the love of Biden was nutty. I can't stand Trump nor Biden or any president
Penn's putting the weight back on
great one
Jillette the best a man can get.
Hell yeah
I've seen both a Copperfield show and a Pen and Teller show. I was fortunate to sit in the front row of each. Both shows are amazing but if you can only choose one pick the Penn & Teller show. Btw, Copperfield had a lot of audience plants.
Kudos Adam.... this is a great interview...really enjoyed the conversation
Me at the beginning of this episode:
For a guy, Penn has the most amazing laugh I've ever heard. It's so infectious.
Me about halfway through this episode:
Oh my gosh, I can't handle his laugh anymore.
Just love these guys. I would say God bless, but based on their beliefs, universe bless.
I just finished Penn's book " Presto" today... and........ I've written all through it ! A good fun book.
cool guys!!!!
Love it when Adam makes him laugh, it's cute
Great interview.
Penn is one of the few people who was red pilled and decided to take the blue pill
Penn was never red pilled. 😂 He was mostly just common sense. Like when they made a whole episode on BS about how the anti-vaccine movement is moronic.
Penn is one of the few celebrities that somehow managed going from being red pilled to being cluelessly blue pilled.
He is a man of extremes. It’s infuriating but there is no doubt that he is incredibly intelligent and wildly interesting. I disagree that him far more then many people vehemently, but I absolutely agree with him in such crazy ways it’s almost like he’s in my head. I think I love/hate him. What a fantastic person.
Yikes.
@@john-paulsilke893I totally disagree in reference to intelligence. As the original commenter stated he’s gone from red pilled to blue pilled which indicates significantly low intelligence.
Explain what you mean, please? I hadn't heard of him switching pills.
@@philliphayden2727he went from based libertarian to lefty nut when Covd hit. He said everyone must wear a mask and bla bla, he turned to supporting tyranny. I’m sure it’s worse than I’m even aware of.
1:02:34 Penn just needed to laugh for no apparent reason. Hahahahahaha
I am so much enjoying this... not to give an answer to the questions, but I thought Mel Brooks was dead.
I was 29 years old in 1991. 90s music is my favorite--alternative/grunge.
3:50 Think I had the same experience with Iron Maiden a couple years ago. Went with my uncle who adored them. Thought I'd go free ticket drink some booze maybe see some hot older ladies. Absolutely great show couldn't believe how good. Ghost opened for them was shocked new appreciation
I was brought onstage at Penn & Teller's Off Broadway show about 40 years ago.
They go way back.
Nice surf analogy...caught inside and getting hammered.
43:11 “pacing and smoking” 🤣🤣🤣
Penn sent a personal birthday message to my beautiful niece Halsey recently. Great man. ❤
1:02:37 damn penn lost it with the laughter
I don't know if ringtones are still a thing but if they are I want that to be mine
good vibes
Funny stuff Adam!
Those are some scary ass laugh's coming from Mr. Jillette. Wow!
he calls it his "witches cackle". or maybe thats just his friends
If you’re a drinker 25:33 is good stuff to hear
Hes from my hometown. When he was a kid he would ride around town on a unicycle lol
Penn will always be the voice of comedy central to me 😊😊😊
An interview with Teller would be entertaining
Inside Job is a Good show, kids got good taste.👍
Penn Jillette is an American treasure
" I was 17 and they were all TWENTY FIVE !!! " Penn's line !! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.... yepppp little did we know THEN 25 was about 16 !!! funny stuff
Yeah get it on got to get it on
I powered thru this one. I was considering going to his show but I’m not so sure now. Adam was hilarious though.
21 years banging out shows in Vegas 😳
How 💰 is he sitting on ?
250
So now we know Adam & Jimmy are still friends. Awesome. Sooo Kimmel haters STFU!!!
Everyone knows not owned by the church I am owned by magician's and music awesome
1:03 . never heard Penn laugh harder! wow.
I like Dean Martin his songs are a mindset you have to be in the exceptable mood to enjoy
Things change, people might not change.
Nothing like having your friend smash the brass fitting into your teeth while you're trying to drink from the hose. Ha!
My mother couldn't read. She could paint like Mattise and play the stand-up bass. She work in manufacutring where she worked in a "clean room" by herself assembling components for space crafts.
Haven't watched yet but I wonder if Adam will call out Penn's bullshit during Covid and kissing the Democratic parties ass.
🤙🏼
Seen penn and teller at the RIO, 2008, great show, unfortunately the RIO hotel and resort is a dump
Penn wrote a novel?
He penned it himself
@11:45 Willie Nelson is not in the “everybody dead” club
At 1:02:36 Adam must have said something funny. Anyone find out what it was?
This guy sure likes to hear himself talk.....
Only thing I don't like is Penn's laugh, super annoying. Example - 1:02:37
I never realized how goofy his laugh is...very interesting guy he is, on the flip side.
I never would have guessed Copperfield was younger than Penn. But I guess so.
Jimmy!! Isn’t it racist to have a club? Mmmmm I don’t know, there may be Covid there.
Adam looks like Steve-O.
Penn and Teller Must Die! (movie) Great Movie! I have it on VHS
Hi
No if you want real excitement and a up front experience take your family to a local short track
Hey Penn, the band's name is "Ramones" not "The Ramones".
Students should be also able to go to school with guns and they should be able to not shoot people. They did in my class with 0 casualties. (At the very end of this really fun conversation)
ahah penn is getting puffy again its always what they do they shrink in and then they shrink back out again!
Rat WAS a great band...
Is it ironic they're surrounded by food?
I don't know how anybody can stand to watch shin Lim he is so incredibly over-the-top dramatic and cheesy
wait, Pete Fountain was good
Remains to be seen whether this new format works. I've always found the one-on-ones to be boring as hell. If that's a sign of things to come, then I think ACE's days as an entertainer are numbered.
Gene Krupa?
