I think the key to wearing Chanel N°5 EDP is to only use a little.. Less is certainly more. I adore this fragrance - love the soapy, clean & fresh scent once it's settled. I think it reacts very well to body heat when applied lightly. Brilliant video - you're a natural on camera! Look forward to viewing more of your videos.

It’s true ! Chanel # 5 was given to me as a Christmas gift when I was 15 ! It was the very first perfume I’ve ever owned! I will always have this fragrance !! I’m older now , but never will I be without!! It’s divine!

Yes, Matthew. It important to know which you have - parfume or toilette. And a little is only needed which is why mine last for so long.
I wear it on wrists, my upper front and maybe a little spritz around the middle. This scent stays on a long time.
I have EDP and the premire and both last a long time
Great perfume review. I’ve loved Chanel #5 since a child. It was a favorite of my moms. I would sneak in her room and put it on. I’m still wearing it today.

When I shop for a perfume I want to experience that euphoria that I first experienced with Chanel No. 5, Dior Miss Dior Cherie ( now gone ), and L’Air du temps by NiNA Ricci. All others are either “meh” or give me a raging headache. So at age 62 I finally realize that unless I really feel a euphoria of memory, sensation, and timeliness that only a few fragrances give me, it’s just not worth building a large collection of scents. That’s just my opinion, but I understand the desire of many women to have a large collection.

What Dior did to Miss Dior Cherie is criminal. They should never have changed it, and given it the name of the original Miss Dior just to confuse everyone. And then they did the same thing with Dior Homme! Dior's perfume division is apparently run by monkeys with ADD.

So agree with you on aldehydes! Wish they were in more perfumes today! Probably why I loved the perfume compositions of the 80's so much!
Nice review Kristin. I agree with all you said. I have both L'Eau and Eau Premiere and love them both. I have also fallen in love with Paris-Venise which as I am sure you know is an EDT from Chanel's Les Eaux line. It is very light and bright and is a great choice when the temperature starts to climb. I live on the west coast of Florida, so I know exactly what you mean when you mention how one's environment plays a major role in the longevity of a fragrance.
I meant the mid to late 70's not the 80's. My favorites if the time were Rive Gauche, Valentino, Fidji, original Nina, Diva, Sinan, original Y, Scherrer I and II, Chanel 19 and Christalle just to name a few. Such beauties!
Eau Premier is my favourite, it also smells very clean in my opinion

I am a long-time No. 5 lover and it’s been a while since I’ve owned the EDT but since moving to Palm Beach County, I’m loving the idea of something a little easier to wear in the heat and humidity so may give it another go. Love your channel! ❤

Great review! I really relate to your journey in loving this. One thing I just learned is that the EDP was made in the 80s, so it's almost like a flanker!
What a great review. I find myself not liking L’eau and eau premiere. To me, it’s like powder on steroids. However, when I sampled EDP 5 the OG, I got more bourbon vanilla and less aldehydes which I have found really interesting and it was during the summer when I sampled it. My # 1 Chanel fragrances that is my most favorite of all are the Coco Chanel Noir and other Coco Flankers. Especially, the Coco Noir. One of the most beautiful scents ever. Coco Noir has a hint of the 5 in the background and brings out the aroma of wealth but without the dated notes. I’m a lover of patchouli ,Tonka bean, and vanilla. So the Coco Noir one is a hit for me. Im definitely going to revisit the 5 and will check out the edt one as well. You did such a beautiful job with the review!
EXCELLENT comparison! My first bottle of Chanel perfume was No. 5 EDP. I've been sampling the L'eau and I really like it! I rarely wear my No 5 but it isn't because I don't like it. I do! But my next No 5 will be L'eau. Maybe premier one day. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much!🥰
Thank you for speaking about #5! I used to wear it exclusively for 20 years! I get upset about the hate it gets. Nevertheless I don’t think it’s as beautiful as it was.. I have a modern EDP which I ordered from Chanel, a 2018 red one (ebay) and a vintage 60’s parfum and an 80’s EDC. The EDC has gone off a bit but still smells pretty good:-)
I’m really interested in the l’eau sound beautiful, I’ve always found the original to heavy and I usually like heavy ! Great review

I'm 50 and have been buying perfume since 15yrs old NEVER bought this till the other day...LOVE IT now....never did...the key is as someone notes use A LITTLE goes a long way...#1 for me now

A commenter I read said something about all the hate this perfume gets. I personally think it is because the perfume has been around for over 100 years and is still the most popular perfume in the world. Plus some think in the silly way that because its been around a long time it's a grandma scent.
It's a grandma scent because it has always been popular and has been around along time. Women of all eras since the 20s have worn it.
But, as beautiful as some of today's scents are they don't last a blink of the eye. They peter out in a half hour. That is not perfume to me. And not what a perfume should be.
Chanel, like many vintage scents, last a long time and have some muscle to them. Dior, Ricci, Lauder, ect. It was seen that if a scent did not last several hours they were not perfume. And women did not spend good money on them.
But, if you decide to put aside your snobby attitude of it being a 'grandma' scent and just experience it you find it is sensual, alluring and mystical. It has depth and a warm golden aura. You feel special and strong and feminine. I think, like many others, that this is the perfume above all others.
It is iconic and the perfume of all time.
I also think the hate is directed at the fact that #5 became really huge again in the 80s. alot of young people sneer at the 80s because the music was better and the movies were better and the decade brought back glamour and style.
Along with it #5 was the symbol of classic and sophisticated and stylish.
So many women flocked to buy it and wear it.
The young women today see it as a mom or grandma scent since that is what they loved and wore at the time.
No...not at all. I just turned 67, so I AM a grandmother. I have never been able to abide Chanel #5 because of the deliberate green aldehyde overdose. Aldehydes, chemically, are "fatty soaps" that adhere to fragrance notes. For example, one experiment I remember in chemistry class was creating a banana-scented aldehyde. That scent was a giveaway that the experiment succeeded, however, there are many aldehydes, and they all have a unique aroma. I don't care AT ALL...in ANY product...for green aldehydes. It has always been a vile scent to my nose, and turns my stomach. Only recently can I actually smell Chanel #5 without gagging...but only if I've smelled 15-20 other fragrances first.
Because I understand fragrances, I can articulate exactly why I don't like Chanel #5...and it has nothing to do with smelling grandma-ish, but because of my own reaction to green aldehydes.

i have and love No. 5 L'Eau, it is such a crisp, clean, beautiful scent. I haven't tried the rest of the No. 5 line for many, many years. When I did try them I found them far too mature for me (I think I was still in my 20's at the time). I have to try thhe line again, now that I am a woman of a slightly mature age.

The vintage formulations of no. 5 which still have the oak moss smell much better to me than the current formulations. I’m all about the oak moss.
I love No 5 L'Eau, and it's the first No 5 that I've liked at all! When Eau Premiere came out and people were saying, "It's so accessible! Even if you don't like No 5!" I tried it and still didn't like it. But L'Eau is so good! It's been a good few years now, though, and I think it's about time for me to revisit No 5 (including Eau Premiere) to see how I feel about them now (and especially after wearing L'Eau for awhile).
I had a huge bottle of Channel No 5. then I gave it away. I did not regret it. I will try it again. I should use just a little bit.
Hi 🙂 as far as I know the Eau de parfum was created in the 80s. The Eau de toilette is the OG, as it was created in 1924, 3 years after the original n. 5 parfum

I have vintage Chanel 5 edt in rechargeable black packaging and I loooove it so much 😍 also I was able to get vintage eau de cologne of chanel 5 still sealed 😱 I'm kinda scared to open it 😂 but you still can smell it even though it's closed bottle 😌
I’m on,y 30 and I’d heard stories that my Nan used to wear chanel no5 when my mum was younger and it didn’t smell very nice. But I purchased 3 of the chanel no5 line yesterday and I have to say I love them and I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase them
I just ordered me some of the eau de parfum, I wanted the parfum but it was too costly for me 😂 but I spent 160 on the 3.4 oz of the eau de parfum and I’m excited. This is my new favorite channel just because you have just as much perfumes as I do 😂

I lived in Paris from age 18 to 20 and they were probably too sophisticated for me then but I wore them anyway and I associate them now with great memories 🥹
Now I don’t wear any of this series from Chanel because unfortunately I am influenced by the fact that I feel like People around me are not going to like the scent. I should wear it again anyway! 🤪

Chanel 5 premiere is my summer favorite…I love the new Zara water lily tea Dress ( and I hate Zara perfumes ) but it fades as soon as I put it on BUT it reminds me a bit of Chanel if it had mint ! I’m actually wondering if there IS Chanel that smells like water lily teadress!? I would rather spend more so it lasts!??
My favorite thus far is for sure....Eau Premiere. It has the classic #5 smell...but...removes what I do not like in the original #5.

@@nichelledemille2856 not sweet at all...for my nose is more powdery soapy but so complex that any description dont really do justice
I bought the toilette spray and am left more saddened than disappointed. I was exited to try it out but theres a overpowering chemical smell. You miss out on any powder or floral scent, is not there. The smell is strongly similar to bug spray I remember using as a kid when we went camping.

My grandmother's signature scent. It is a scent memory for me, but I find it nauseating. I recently smelled it amd ofcourse searched the notes and got none of the bright citrus, iris or vanilla. I get the aldehydes and leather and find it very strong and also leans masculine imo. Is there also No 5 spray Cologne?

And what about people that live in tropical countries? I understand that some people recommend perfumes according to weather stations but part of the world lives in countries where there's no autumn,snow and winter.
Vintage Extrait is THE best version! I also feel if Marilyn Monroe's name wasn't connected to this scent it wouldn't have been so big!

I started with eau premiere, now discontinued sadly, and fell in love, a bright, delicate, citrusy, flowery, light powdery beauty and then purchased 5 edp, and fell in love again :-), more aldehydic, rosey, creamy luxury oil feel I get with this one and I will definitely try edt version, what to say, love this line :-)
The Eau Première has not been discontinued it is still on sale on the Chanel website

I just started my n5 journey. I started with an old version of EAU premiere and recently got an EDT. EDP next. I always felt so so about n5, but recently It is the only thing I want to wear... So pleasing, elegant and beautiful!! Btw, do you also get a... kind of fruity note on the EDT?
I think the rose comes across sweetier and slightly fruitier yes.

I don’t find the EDP unwearable… but I didn’t really enjoy it much. However, I got a sample of L’eau and I have been wearing it night and day for about a week and almost through it, which is the most I’ve worn a perfume straight in a couple of years. Kinda shocking to me, closest to signature I’ve had in a long time. I thought I was a fan of Chance and Coco Mad Intense more… but those are almost too much compared to this beauty 😍
L'eau to me is one of the best and successful flankers. Its everything a flanker should be. Pays respect to the original DNA but at the same time it is its own unique fragrance. With L'eau you lose the heaviness that No. 5 can have. It just becomes light, ethereal and modern, but still classically beautiful!

I bought EDT 50 mls from an airport in England. The quality is very poor. The smell is very weak and fades away completely within 1 hour. Is there any way to change this failed bottle? On the website there is a phone number from Hong Kong, I don't want to spend a fortune calling that one.

No. 22 smells more like how I remember no. 5 smelling in the 70s.

I just got done watching your video. Great video by the way however, the only difference between Chanel No 5 Premiere and Chanel No 5 L’eau video is absolutely nothing, except for one thing premiere is EDP and L’eau is EDT that’s the only difference EDT makes it a lot more lighter, but the one thing I hate about perfume so-called collectors is that y’all have taken the most classic beautiful classy seductive top notch Perfume in the world and turned it into something basic. Y’all got to be pretty special to do something like that. there is no need to have 50 million bottles of perfume find the few that you like nobody can wear a perfume and stand out anymore. There’s no individuality everybody wants to smell the same that’s what I find absolutely sucks about you perfume people and I’m sorry if that sounded rude, but it really gets under my skin, I’ve been wearing Chanel perfume since the 80s and I almost don’t wanna wear it anymore because you guys really messed it up and why do you think they came up with all these flankers because they know that you young ones have no self-control and don’t even know what you’re smelling
