Late posting… ok Dacob have to tell you … when I was born my grandmere (who was Parisian) bought me a bottle of Chanel #5 parfum sealed 1963 and told my mother I could open it on my wedding day. The bottle that was purchased I did open on my wedding day… and have worn the parfum for every special occasion since that day.. wedding anniversaries… babies… birthdays on and on… it has become my time capsule of the year I was born and lingers in all the major moments of my life… the bottle is getting low and though it probably won’t last through the rest of my lifetime … I am saving a little bit for my daughter’s wedding day to remember her special day… fragrance is a time capsule full of memories. Chanel #5♥️
5 months ago I was in a duty free boutique in Mexico & asked for the salesperson for Chanel No5 & she said "the classic? Wouldn't you rather look at a modern scent?" Me "No, the original No5, nothing else will do" I love this gorgeous classic perfume, my all time favorite fragrance
@@SuperDacob I knew a sales associate who would tell potential customers, "Ew, this one smells like an old lady!" for pretty much anything made before 2012. 😐😐😐
To me, vintage No 5 smells nothing like the newer version. I hate the No 5 aldehydes as I’ve known them for at least 20 years but the vintage doesn’t have that. I found a bottle from what i believe to be the 1950s… so “the classic” is not really “the classic.”
@@SuperDacob I was just recently at macys and was purchasing Platinum Egoiste. They didn’t want to sell it to me…they were hesitant trying to push some coach and Burberry fragrance…..still bought Platinum Egoiste and the lady was pissed off as if it was for her.

My Mother had a similar bottle of No.5, bought for her by my brother from Harrod's on a trip in 1975. It sat unopened in her bedroom until the day she died and I can't recollect where it went! We had emptied the house and various items were distributed, I may have it in an unopened box from that time. I'm going on a treasure hunt now for that bottle.
I am wishing you good luck on your hunting trip and I do wish you find that treasure. It would be sad to leave it all alone, tucked away from joy, in a closed box.
Oh Dacob. I missed this live, but the emotions were so raw, I was so excited for you and us in the bunker, I had to stop for a minute and just process everything Chanel has meant to me. I was 18 when I went on my first big shopping trip to another country and gravitated to the Chanel counter. I spent a HUGE amount of money for an 18 year old, but the memory of it and how it changed my life has never left me. May I ask, is a 60 year old bottle something that still exudes such beautiful aroma? Obviously yes, correct? I want an extrait yet I have found some allegedly sealed on Ebay from Russia or Spain. Is there a difference between an extrai and the parfum or is it the same concept?
@@almatoledo1608 if it has been stored well - ideally still in its box away from light and heat - then yes, it still smells amazing. Some (not all) of my vintage's top notes are slightly diminished but with No 5, I love the dry down most, anyway. My mother as a young beauty in a small town in Mexico, received a tiny bottle of extrait from a handsome suitor who returned from France with the Fragrant gift. She never kept the bottle, was never allowed to have a boyfriend who was older... her Presence in that old souvenir is connected to No. 5.
I hope this bottle doesn’t evaporate! If you keep the stopper in it should be fine, it’s so precisely cut that the fragrance shouldn’t come into contact with much oxygen when shut. You just opened a time capsule from the 1950s. This was truly amazing to watch❤
My God, you are so lucky! I just bought an old 5 ml miniature of No5, it is amazing, reminding me of a moment almost 40 years ago, when i was 5 and i took my grandmother's little bottle of perfume (she used to call it eau de cologne) and i put some drops on my head (that's how i thought perfume should be used :))) . She came and hugged me and she said: oh, you used the perfume :). I don't remember the name of that one, but this No5 smells exactly like that one, but I have no idea of the release date of my miniature.
Thank you for such a lovely review! You inspired me to get a vintage extrait of Chanel No 5, it has a dot under “No” on the bottle sticker, so possibly it’s from the 50s! Marilyn Monroe probably used this version before going to bed, so surreal to experience something like that!
Just watched this and cackled with glee every time you smelled your wrist and gushed. Because I get it. It’s pure beauty, and joy, and luxury. Unfortunately I don’t have No. 5, but I have No. 19. And after I watched this, I put a little dab on my wrist and just reveled in it. Thank you.
Here because i am so curious about what smell a vintage Chanel. I heared it was more fresh that now, but saw You opened it was amazing, i was very curious about what smelled a old chanel
Out of all the perfumes on the market, the most incredible ones (ESPECIALLY on a man) has to be Chanel no 5 and Guerlain Mitsouko edp (check it out, stunning chypre)! I have such a large niche perfume collection but these two - amazing. Especially vintage formulations, sooooo lucky!
I just learned from another UA-camr said that the Chanel 5 that Marilyn Monroe wore dating back 1921 is not the same Chanel 5 in today’s formulation. Way way different now explains why it smells like baby powder on steroids. However, I did sample the early day 5 and got some vanilla vibe on me that like and not too much aldehydes but more in the background. That one was more soft and musky vanilla on my skin chemistry. But the current formulation gives me headaches. I’m a Coco Chanel and Chance wearer. Sounds like the one you got Dacob is rare and a real gem. The bottle is gorgeous
Marilyn did not wear the 1921 formulation because by the time Marilyn started wearing N°5 in the fifties, it had already been reformulated several times. Having said that, I would not say that the current modern day formulation of CHANEL N°5 smells like baby powder on steroids. Marilyn wore the pure PARFUM extract of N°5 as well as the cologne. The PARFUM concentration in production today is still masterful and does not smell like baby powder on steroids. I think you might be talking about the current day eau de parfum formulation of N°5. The eau de parfum was first released in the mid eighties and Marilyn never wore it because she was already gone decades before the eau de parfum was released. The eau de parfum is a bit of a powder steroid creation but only because it was formulated in the eighties where the style was all about steroids and shoulder pads and opulence. So you see, there is a reason why N°5 smells different in each concentration... it is always formulated in a very time specific manner, to match the sociological needs of the times it is sold in. Having said that, N°5 PARFUM still to this day, transcends time... but only in its PARFUM concentration.
'Just kind of kind of they just like in a vortex keep pulling them down ...so you have this duality of this kind os the perfume wanting to be light but there is this darkness pulling it down... ohhh so gorgeous... oh man..." What you said describes Marilyn Monroe like no other ever did, but you were describing her signature perfume. How interesting... I am tearful... now I am emotional.
Quick question - I have 2 bottles of N°5 pure Parfum. The batch codes are 9601 and 0101. Which one would you say is older? And which one should I open (I want to save one sealed)? Thank you, and btw. I have watched this video like a hundred times, I love it! 🤩
Jesus Mary Joseph... the Mother of all Mother of all perfumes... I can’t. I was holding my breath when you were slicing that damn sticker. I did NOT expect the bottle to take up the space of the box 100% - I thought it would be standing in a foam stand of sort. My worrrrrd....
Back in the day (the sixties... time from when this bottle came from) CHANEL was not playing the fake game of making huge boxes to justify the high cost of tiny products contained in said boxes. Those were more honest times indeed.
Thank you so much dear. I actually just started a new channel dedicated only to perfumes where I am moving all my perfume reviews to and all my new perfume reviews are being posted there as well. My new perfume channel is called “essence-tially Dacob” , in case you wish to check it out 🙏🏻💖🥰🌈🦄
Hi, A lovely video, & yes it is from the very late 1960s to the 1970s, but it is not the air which will/could start to degrade the parfum, it is bacteria, if you can resist not touching the stopper to your skin or with your fingers, & keep it boxed in a cool place, then it could last for years. Wiping the base of the stopper against your wrists as you did has bombarded the stopper with bacteria "( You can sterilize the stopper or apply by dipping a sterile glass rod into the parfum, or decant a little into a glass bottle. The HP on the base of the bottle is for the long defunct bottle manufacturer Pouchet et du Courval. Also, do not shake the bottle around, you can cause the molecules of pure oils & essences to form into small balls or start to attach themselves to the walls of the bottle. Do enjoy, this era produced my favorites of all the No5 parfums
Thank you dear. I am not afraid of bacteria affecting the parfum. I decided to open it for the 100th birthday of N°5 and I intend to let it live the life if lives, together with me. I am also not forever. I see perfumes as polaroid pictures: fading so poetically in and with time. I actually enjoy the fading. there is much beauty in it.
@@SuperDacob Hi, I like that you are going to let it live its life, vintage No5 is the only perfume I can live with without complaint ") You should try to get your hands on a vintage 1930-1940s bottle, now that will make you fall to the floor in a dead faint. There is simply nothing like it ") If I see a bottle going cheap on eBay I will drop you a line, for it was created before Chanel started planting their own gardens & almost all of the essential oils came from Iran, it has to be experienced to be believed ")
Can you compare to the newest version of Chanel no 5, I heard that the original used the musk from an animal to get its unique fragrance and in the late 70s 80s because of animal cruelty. Not sure how true it is but can you make a video on that please!
I have several old bottles of Chanel #5. One I broke the seal on many years ago too and I think the OLD #5 smells better than the new!I just worry that it might be unhealthy to wear fragrance that old? I don’t know, but I agree with you that it’s different and I think smells much more real than the newer version.
You sure know your stuff… maybe you’ll know the answer. I have both the pure perfume as well as EDP. Both of them are fantastic - I like to layer the No 5, it’s always a great idea! There is a note that must be in both formulas, it may be amber but it could be something else. When the perfume dries and the base notes show themselves, I get this caramel/amber/kinda musky scent. Are you familiar with this note/scent? I’m hoping it isn’t just me, and that part is the only part I don’t care much for. Thanks!
Not necessarily. Some ingredients can just be susceptible to light but their smell might not be as much. Vanilla also tends to darken over time in perfumes but it does not mean that it always has to smell any worse after it darkens. Other times the darkening of the perfume with time can also mean that it is decomposing. Usually though the indicator I have noticed for worsening smell is if the liquid turns opaque or muddy... when it is no longer see through but turns somewhat stale and no longer fully see through.
@@SuperDacob Thank you. I have an older bottle of Joy Eau de Parfum and it has darkened to a light amber colour. I do keep it out of the sun but was wondering. Thanks again. Your videos are great. I love No 5 as well.
usually no. the only draw back is that with very old perfumes, the top notes tend to be gone. all you have left are the middle and the base notes. well that makes sense because top notes are the most volatile. even when freshly made, they are designed to last no more than 1 hour. so imagine a perfume that has been aged for 50 years, it's natural that the top note, most of them, if not all of them have been evaporated.
@@SuperDacob There was always a bit of oxygen in it. Now it has a bit of modern air in it. So I guess the question is: let it breathe alongside you now, or have it hold its breathe with the gasp of air it received today, until the next anniversary?

We can only imagine how men swooned over Marilyn, walking before their eyes, smelling like the No. 5 of the 50s
Amazing!
Interesting facts to learn that the only Marilyn Monroe wore in 1921 is not the same formula that Chanel 5 in today’s market. I was quite shocked.
W-O-W....speachless ❤️ TIME TRAVEL..❤️ Congratulations, Dacob!!
I come back to this video when I need a serotonin boost. Your passion and excitement and thrill is so contagious. Love your energy. Thank you again for sharing this with us. ❤️
Thank you David 🥰🥰🥰🌅🙏🏻
Those jumbo extraits were total mistress gifts. Great video.
Loved this unboxing. ❤ we are apart if Chanel forever.
Thank you Amira!
Speechless!
I totally know how you feel! I smelled Mitsuoko from I947 and I was like, divine oak moss . I got so emotional with you!
#5 is one of my top 5. I love your passion
🙏🏻🥰💖🌈
Thank you for such a lovely review! You inspired me to get a vintage extrait of Chanel No 5, it has a dot under “No” on the bottle sticker, so possibly it’s from the 50s! Marilyn Monroe probably used this version before going to bed, so surreal to experience something like that!
Beautiful video, Dacob!
Thank you Gatecrasher12
Long live Chanel N°5! Vive la reine et la mère de tous les parfums!
🙏🏻🥰😂🌅🌈
Just watched this and cackled with glee every time you smelled your wrist and gushed. Because I get it. It’s pure beauty, and joy, and luxury. Unfortunately I don’t have No. 5, but I have No. 19. And after I watched this, I put a little dab on my wrist and just reveled in it. Thank you.
Here because i am so curious about what smell a vintage Chanel. I heared it was more fresh that now, but saw You opened it was amazing, i was very curious about what smelled a old chanel
i can't believe i haven't seen this until now - awesome!
Glad you found the video 😉🙏🏻💖
I would give my life to get a sniff. I don’t know how u did it, but congratulations!
Thank you Angie!
I remember watching this live. What a moment in the 100th celebration for N5!
Where did you find this vintage gem in such perfect condition? Amazing! Thnx for sharing.
Thanks. Found it on a second hand website.
@@SuperDacob how much was the price?
Wow! Congrats Dacob. x
Thank you Sean 1
Out of all the perfumes on the market, the most incredible ones (ESPECIALLY on a man) has to be Chanel no 5 and Guerlain Mitsouko edp (check it out, stunning chypre)! I have such a large niche perfume collection but these two - amazing. Especially vintage formulations, sooooo lucky!
Oh yes, Mitsouko edp is sublime! 🧡
Wow I really think I would prefer the smoky vintage version with the civet
'Just kind of kind of they just like in a vortex keep pulling them down ...so you have this duality of this kind os the perfume wanting to be light but there is this darkness pulling it down... ohhh so gorgeous... oh man..."
What you said describes Marilyn Monroe like no other ever did, but you were describing her signature perfume. How interesting... I am tearful... now I am emotional.
Loving your Chanel necklace
Thank you Shirley 💖
I’d be emotional too babes!!! Watching your face brought tears to my eyes.
🥹🥹🙏🏻😭💖
I just got my hands on a bottle of 1920’s-1940’s and a 1950’s-1960’s bottle of chanel no5, such a beautiful perfume.
Quick question - I have 2 bottles of N°5 pure Parfum. The batch codes are 9601 and 0101. Which one would you say is older? And which one should I open (I want to save one sealed)? Thank you, and btw. I have watched this video like a hundred times, I love it! 🤩
That bottle must have cost an absolute fortune wow.
100th birthday's N°5 ❤
Hi so is this channel perthum off or is it good because it was sealed
Jesus Mary Joseph... the Mother of all Mother of all perfumes...
I can’t.
I was holding my breath when you were slicing that damn sticker.
I did NOT expect the bottle to take up the space of the box 100% -
I thought it would be standing in a foam stand of sort.
My worrrrrd....
Back in the day (the sixties... time from when this bottle came from) CHANEL was not playing the fake game of making huge boxes to justify the high cost of tiny products contained in said boxes. Those were more honest times indeed.
I throughly enjoyed yesterday’s celebration, the vintage must smell heavenly! Ah it’s 2021 and we can’t transport scents through screens ☹️
I subscribed to your channel only recently so I am just discovering this amazing content 😍 thanks for creating amazing perfume videos!!!
Thank you so much dear. I actually just started a new channel dedicated only to perfumes where I am moving all my perfume reviews to and all my new perfume reviews are being posted there as well. My new perfume channel is called “essence-tially Dacob” , in case you wish to check it out 🙏🏻💖🥰🌈🦄
@@SuperDacob already subscribed ;)
OMG!!! 👼👑💣GREAT VIDEO❤
Thank you dear.
Simply wonderful 💖✨✨💗💕💖✨💕💗💖
Thank you Ayshea!
Classy & memorable ©️©️No5. 🖤 thanks for sharing my love. 🙏🏼😘😘😘Sandy
*sigh*. Back when perfume was actual perfume unlike today’s watered down money making corporate junk.
I still love the current formulation of N°5's parfum concentration though.
@@SuperDacob same 😉
Just try niche fragrances, personally my favorite is montale :)
Thé perfumes are powerful, and they last and they are so intoxicating it’s crazy
Love this!!! How can I send you a picture of "Unveil the Darkness"
How did you find it??
The livestream yesterday was a triumph dacob- is the repeat on here??😊🇬🇧
Thank you Susan dear. Yes, the rerun is online
Hello Dacob :-) from Bulgaria!
Hello KristinA
Just OPEN IT Gurl LOL I have this Bottle also, same size, it's beautiful..
Wow ,this is amazing!!!!!
How wonderful 🙏
🙏🏻💖
Can you compare to the newest version of Chanel no 5, I heard that the original used the musk from an animal to get its unique fragrance and in the late 70s 80s because of animal cruelty. Not sure how true it is but can you make a video on that please!
Вы очень крутой блогер!!! Ваши обзоры на парфюмерию Chanel лучшие на UA-cam. 👍❤️
I have several old bottles of Chanel #5. One I broke the seal on many years ago too and I think the OLD #5 smells better than the new!I just worry that it might be unhealthy to wear fragrance that old? I don’t know, but I agree with you that it’s different and I think smells much more real than the newer version.
Beautiful video
Thank you!
Thanks!
Where did you come across that Chanel necklace that you're wearing
Got it at a CHANEL boutique
When perfume darkens with age, does it affect the fragrance in any way?
The fact you are smelling exactly like Marilyn Monroe right now 🤯
Dreamy. I love Marilyn 🥰💖
I wish I can smell it through the screen.
FINALLY I found this exact same bottle from ebay! Just bought it, hopefully its legit 😬
Unopened just like yours! Im so excited!!!
amazing collection ...wow
Dacob, you should be a model!! You are quite gorgeous!
yes he reminds me of the younger version of alessandro michele, the current creative director for gucci.
I mean the pure extrait?does it long last ?hw bout the sillage?
You can buy that material to seal it again.
The oxygen is inside. It has already been exposed after I broke the seal... Now all we have left to do is to enjoy this beauty as long as it lasts...
@@SuperDacob There was always a bit of oxygen in it. Now it has a bit of modern air in it. So I guess the question is: let it breathe alongside you now, or have it hold its breathe with the gasp of air it received today, until the next anniversary?
This was Marylin Monroe’s scent 🥹💋
Yes it was 🥰💖
