I think that's why he balances. Some chess players are so mild mannered in real life but you see how they play and you're shocked to see them behave so cruelly to another fellow human being !
Walter Browne was not always a gentleman when he lost. Walter was about to lose and his opponent was about to Queen a pawn. In mutual time pressure Walter picked up his opponents' extra Queen and threw it across the tournament hall. I think George Koltanowski forfeited him.
Ivanchuk is a totally crazy guy. He losses 5 games on time just to beat a player like Kramnik in a situation like that... Now in Greece he totally outplayed his opponent to loose a 100% winning position with a series of blunders in severe time trouble :)
Fun fact: I go to a chess club in Irvine, CA run by NM Joe Hanley. Hanley will sometimes be away for a tournament and his friend John Marble will run the club for a day or so. I remember bringing up Yasser Seirawan to Mr. Marble and he actually said that he knew Seirawan and has had multiple conversations w/ him! What a small world, isn't it?
This game was heart-breaking. Vladimir would have never have played the Pirc if a draw was enough (I mean, who thought Carlsen would lose with White??) If they had a rapid playoff instead of the ridiculous tie-break on "points", Kramnik would have not played the Pirc, and he would have drawn the game and won the Candidates. Instead, they end up tied and because Carlsen loss more game (and wins) he gets to play Anand. Ugh. I hope they never again decide a candidate based on "tie-break points" Why not settle it over the board? I mean, a G30 only takes an hour!! Hell, make it blitz. Anything but this. That said... Carlsen is a stud and clearly #1.
Ok,pause on 35:10 .What about Bd7 takes on A4,after rook retakes,Nf6 takes on e4 and Queen cant recapture because it hangs the bishop on c5,which at this point would also be a fork of the Queen and rook, winning (I think) for black.Tell me where i am wrong please.
@krzysztofkolodziejczyk4335 Kramnik has always made some wild claims. Just back then it was more fun stuff like claiming a position where he's barely better is "completely winning."
+Zoomsoldier5 Go to St Louis Chess Club website. You can set up private lessons with Yasser. Very reasonable rates. Excellent Christmas gift for a chess freak.
I bet Yasser rarely lost on time, but I don't know for sure. Suttles was a very friendly GM who was glad to show his games. Suttles had an odd style at that time (Suttliana) and some referred to him as "Drunken" Suttles.
I assume you beat Patrick Wolff. Experts in New England in my era played the Brooklyn kid (Caruana) and used the "kids"strategy against Patrick Wolff as all the youngsters were anxious to attack us old Experts so the kids strategy was sometimes equal to the task. Not for me though I did manage to beat Patrick, Joel Benjamin, and Rocky (Fedorowicz), in speed chess when they were teens when Benko was quoted as saying that with your long hair you looked like a girl, Yasser?!?
Kramnik did not deserve to qualify after getting a point from Grischuk, half a point from Aronian and possibly a point from Radjabov. Shirov would also scream "Karma"! Kudos to Ivanchuk for beating Kramnik and to Seirawan for the excellent video!
Kramnik should have played on. Magnus would have in his position. Ivanchuk is known for his erratic play. Magnus beat Radjabov by playing on in dead drawn ending and made Radjabov blunder the game.
Happy smiling GM, makes chess strategy seem so natural yet it is so very hard to evaluate positions correctly... Good job Yasser.
Anyone else like yasser videos before they even start? Amazing humble dude!
He explains things so clearly and simply.
it's funny how Yasser is so sweet and cuddly in his game analysis because in actual OTB play he was a cold blooded killer
I think that's why he balances. Some chess players are so mild mannered in real life but you see how they play and you're shocked to see them behave so cruelly to another fellow human being !
Nevertheless I saw him play and he was always a gentleman whether he won, lost or drew.

Fascinating game review! Entertaining and educational. Thank you, GM Seirawan!
I ALWAYS learn something when i watch Yasser lectures. thanks so much for uploading

I really like Seirawan's troll face smile.
Andrew Leung I lmao at this comment lol I love it.... 4 years later it hits someone lol
@@schnoo4284 it did?
What amazing commentary. Thought out, clear explanation, shows variations
He's very good. I'm grateful that this content is on UA-cam for free, thanks!
No sane person has that level of happiness. He's a mad genius. Capable of being a very dangerous man I'm sure! I wouldn't mess with Mr. Sairawan :)
Dereque Kelley is the same if not even more cheerful
The Mr. Rogers of chess instruction. lol Love it!
More like misses robinson .

GM Seirawan, thank you so much! and thank you for your wonderful books
just a beautiful lecture. Love you Yasser

I think Carlsen lost with Black against Svidler, a game where he failed to find Bh8 at some point?
What a classical chess prezentator!
You're an awesome chess commentator and analyst as well as a great chess player.
I think you and Maurice Ashley were a good commentating team.
Excellent detailed analysis worth viewing a number of times.

If Bd7 takes on a4, instead of recapturing the bishop immediately with the rook, what if white plays Bc4 takes Ne6 first?
get in bed, open my laptop, youtube, yasser seirawan, sleep
But after Rg8 in the line where white sacs his rook at A1 for 2 pawns and the D7 bishop, Just how is white to proceed?
Why does this channel have the dopest intro theme
Very nice explication!!....really good!
35:40 If Kramnik is saying his position is only "okay," that means he's dead lost.
he didn't go completly nuts back then yet . although first signs were already visible.
@krzysztofkolodziejczyk4335 Kramnik has always made some wild claims. Just back then it was more fun stuff like claiming a position where he's barely better is "completely winning."
fantastic lecture
Thank you Yasser! you are the best!!
39:48: nicht Bischof e3 to a7, but Bischof c5 to a7.
awesome video
i love this videos ... keep posting please
You can tell Yasser has some love for chuky...
Please sign my scoresheet . I love it
I'd love to take private lessons with Yasser, does anyone know if he offers them?
My cooking-coach Jamie Oliver says he does, my driving-teacher Hamilton said, he wouldn't, but i can ask Magnus, if he wants another student...
I was thinking the exact same thing... Is there any way to contact Yasser?
+Zoomsoldier5 Go to St Louis Chess Club website. You can set up private lessons with Yasser. Very reasonable rates. Excellent Christmas gift for a chess freak.
+SteveRunciman already tried; apparently their residential grandmasters only administer lessons in person...
And rightly so too
24:35 Woops! *_That_* wasn't the opportunity!
Lmao. 😂
*commentator :)
which chess program he use in this video?
Fritz
27:45
"please sign my score sheet 😁"😂
First time?
I bet Yasser rarely lost on time, but I don't know for sure.
Suttles was a very friendly GM who was glad to show his games.
Suttles had an odd style at that time (Suttliana) and some referred to him as "Drunken" Suttles.
At the beginning he ment to say that Ivanchuk lost 5 games on time.
How can you loose on time? I mean ... MOVE. That was hilarious
Inspired teaching! TY
Yasser is the Bob Ross of chess
He reminds me a little of Mr Rogers, I love it
Kramnik should have never played this opening with so much on the line
Ivanchuk beat both Magnus and Kramnik in this Candidates tournament. He also had dreadful score against everyone else.
GM Ivanchuk is in my view a chess genius, but his performance fluctuates a lot.
I assume you beat Patrick Wolff. Experts in New England in my era played the Brooklyn kid (Caruana) and used the "kids"strategy against Patrick Wolff as all the youngsters were anxious to attack us old Experts so the kids strategy was sometimes equal to the task. How come drawing with white is considered stronger than drawing with black?
Seirawan is like a robot on tranquilizers.
Kramnik did not deserve to qualify after getting a point from Grischuk, half a point from Aronian and possibly a point from Radjabov. Shirov would also scream "Karma"! Kudos to Ivanchuk for beating Kramnik and to Seirawan for the excellent video!
Nice
I think seirawan prefered to play more on queens side .
Yes and what if black answer with Queen b7? OK, then the rook takes pawn a6.
Too early to say who’s better isn’t it?
Did someone squeeze out a fart at 06:55? lol
Kramnik should have played on. Magnus would have in his position. Ivanchuk is known for his erratic play. Magnus beat Radjabov by playing on in dead drawn ending and made Radjabov blunder the game.
but this is easy won, even i would win this ending.
Lol I love how he says "perk" like it's the correct pronunciation
which is not :D as you correctly point out. Vasja Pirc was Slovenian, so his surname sounds like "pirtz".
Nice vid, but please pronunce Pirc the right way...he was from jugoslavia...the "c" without any symbols is a "z", the type of "z" of zeitnot...
the engine thinks black is just fine after be7 after rd1. he isnt in trouble
L
He has always been boring and those lectures are not going to change a thing
Terrible
Mark Callaghan Very suspicious
raaawr
Like in terribly good?
