He did state that was why Dave died and noted the carrier was killed. Nothing wrong with the statement at all and no need to go to the mines - enjoy a day out of the mines.
Hey Jingles! Thank you so much for the feature! Been following since at least 2013 now, and I can't believe I finally made it! Weird that I turned 20 recently and have been a fan since before I had double digits to my name.
To clear up the Leander situation: The gimmick of the new US carriers, besides the air-dropped smoke screens and the tactical squadrons, is also extremely tanky fighters. The T10 Essex can drop a fighter on top / close to even some T10 CVs and they will still survive a long time, so this Leander had no chance to kill those planes. On this line its very effective to run a fighter-build because even stock they also get half the reaction time and more fighters per charge, as well as about 9 times the healthpool compared to same tier carriers. But on the flipside the fighters cannot spot further than 2km, so unless you drop it right on a target, they wont spot anything, which I like a lot. The CVs themselves are also very fragile, without the infamous deck-armor (30mm on T10 Essex) and small healthpools.
Got to hand it to the red Yorktown and Ryūjō, they worked very well together at the end there. And an "Actually Jingles": Dave sunk the Yorktown and the Ryūjō was the last ship alive at the end. Back to the Salt Mines I go now.
A word of consolation for that Leander captain: once he gets to T9 Neptune, the tables are turned. That thing has no problem shooting down planes by the hundred. OK, OK, by the score. Eight and a half score is the most I've seen. 170 planes shot down.
I nearly spat out my drink laughing when the Ryujo killed the New Orleans (the AA Cruiser) after Jingles went on his defensive rant about how carriers are still broken.
Missed a trick there, Jingles... STX484.... Some say he can taste tracers and that his citadel resides in some parallel universe... all we know is he's called the Stick!
Well.....after the Guadalcanal campaign at least one CV recommended that the new Avenger torpedo bombers be used as "shallow" dive-bombers rather than simple torpedo bombers to alleviate the horrendous casualties they would otherwise suffer attacking prepared targets in daylight....so.......:)
Well you have bombers that could serve as both. Notably the A-1 Skyhawks was designed to be both a torpedo and dive bomber and the Fairey Swordfish also filled a similar role.
I don't remember how old I was - eight, nine, ten years old - I was in the Cub Scouts when I lived in Connecticut, USA. Jingles is wrong as you have Westland Wyvern and A-1D Skyhawk both designed to be both torpedo and dive bombers. The latter even carried the last aerial torpedo attack in warfare history during the Korean War.
@@emberfist8347 hes not, he didnt say a divebomber dropping a torpedo, he accidently said Torpedo divebomber. As in they divebomb to drop their torpedo, which doesnt work, cause then its not a torpedo, its a bomb.
I may like the Massachusetts, but "favorite T8 Secondary Powerhouse" also competes with the Bismarck and the Tirpitz. Maybe also the Zeiten, and a few other German premium Battleships... There's a few T8 Secondary Powerhouses
IIRC the Germans win in regards to protection (maybe not the battlecruisers) and volume of secondary fire. The Massachusetts wins in main battery fire, secondary accuracy and AA. The German battlecruisers (and some of the BBs) also have torps which can be nice.
That anti-air battle at the end was basically just 2 minutes of copium but MAN did it look epic! I can imagine the Bofors guns were running until they were red-hot and seconds from melting! :D
As someone else already pointed out, the CV line that includes the Yorktown has robust patrol fighters. Also keep in mind that at that later stage of the match, it had probably lost a lot of AA.

Ah, so Serov is how you say Ryujo in russian. Didn't know that. 😉 Match is also featuring the german T8 BC Zieten and the other german T8 BC Mackensen. The difference? Mackensen is the one with strong AA. 😇
The interesting thing about the Yorktown's dive bombers is the SBD Dauntless actually had an amazing kill ratio of 3.2:1 meaning it was better than many fighters.

Jingles, I'm finally sitting down on a beach front restaurant in Koh Chang Thailand after a long day of exploring. This video was the icing on the cake for my day. Thank you.
Jingles, if you are ever in the northeast United States, I highly recommend a stop to Fall River Massachusetts and visit Battleship Cove, where you can tour the real USS Massachusetts along with other military ships from WWII and the cold war.
I've actually been on and in the USS Massachusetts; it's at Fall River, Massachusetts, preserved as a museum. There are several self-guided walking tours that take you all over the ship. Quite a good time. As we were leaving, a large number of youth groups were boarding to spend the night, sleeping on the original bunks deep inside. Didn't envy them, those bunks looked downright uncomfortable. Nothing but a metal frame with wire mesh.
Hoo boy, Jingles is really on form today. "both teams have a T8 Yorktown and a T6 Ryujo" Actually, they don't. 'Daves' team have a T6 Serov. Says so on the little icon on the mini map. Also the ship silhouettes on the team list are different. "Ryujos topedo bombers shredded by 'Daves' AA", 'Daves' AA managed to down only 2 of those bombers, as the Battle Ribbons confirm. In fact, most of them seemed to be downed by the New Orleans patrol fighters, before they even got into range of the Mass's AA bubble. "really wanted the kill on the Ryuho" as the Yorktown explodes and the Ryujo is the sole enemy team survivor. "The Leander has better armour and AA than what?" The previous T5 ship, HMS Emerald, which has greaseproof paper for armour and 3 potato launchers for AA. "There is no Black version of the USS Alabama" Well considering how enlightened the State of Alabama was towards race relations, not really surprised there is no "Black" version!
The reason the Massachusetts and the Alabama are the only South Dakota class BBs and were in the game quite early is probably because both ships are Museum ships still exist and were scanned while the Indiana and SoDak do not exist.
Surprisingly, no mention of how that next-to-last smoke curtain from the friendly Yorktown allowed Dave to cap the last enemy-held zone, ensuring the enemy carriers had no hope of winning before they were chased down.
I think the better AA protection is from how the older generations of ships had a chap in a crow’s nest giving a two-finger salute as its only AA protection.

CVs are so absolutely outrageous as usual... How is that possible to be so accurate and send so many lead at the same time on such a supposedly super powerful AA ship...
59 aircraft kills back before the rework would have been the equivalent of 3/4 of the Yorktown’s air group destroyed by a single ship. Total aircraft downed by Dave’s team comes to 126, roughly the full air groups of both enemy CVs (pre rework) and here they were still cross dropping, still killing and still spamming hoards of planes right till the end. I don’t play WoWs anymore for a reason
USS Alabama also has better range, dispersion and Sigma than Massachusetts, making her much more reliable at hitting targets at mid and long range. Massachusetts really needs to get in close to hit reliably with her main battery as even at mid range she can struggle to reliably land shots on target.
Yeah the "support" Carriers. IE the Independence, Yorktown and Essix have one normal squadron and TWO "Tactical Squadrons" or as I like to call them "Better Planes". Tactical Squadrons DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT LOSSES! Cus when you launch them it INSTANTLY starts a Cooldown which reloads the ENTIRE SQUADRON, Yes really WG did that on a AIRCRAFT CARRIER! Also the Tier 6 Independence much to my annoyance DOES NOT have smoke screen planes, only the Tier 8/10 Yorktown and Essix. ALSO, the "support" CVs have better Fighter patrols then normal CVs, they got "combat air patrols" vs just "patrol fighters".
