There's a lot of great names in this match and Jingles mentioned none of them so I'm going to go ahead and list my highlight list here: Friendly Midway "USSBoatsAndHoes" Friendly Yamato "CapnPunkBerries" Enemy St.Vincent (and this one is my favorite) "The_Milkiest_Of_Men"
Man, back when I still played, I got caught by that "destroyer starts firing to make you change course and run into his torps" trick in my König once. Touché to you, unnamed DD captain.
Actually Jingles, the Montana had its Citadel lowered due to an effort by the NA Community to have the Iowas modeled properply. This would ultimately result in Montana and North Carolina receiving the same change This came about as the WoWs devs used a book that showed the armour layout for the various ships they put in game, and while it had the Iowa in book, the books armour layout was wrong as it took into account a 2nd splinter deck (iirc) as being part of the machinery armour layout. As such, the devs interpreted this and modeled it as the citadel being above the water line. But a few NA players found original blue prints for the Iowas design that actually showed that the splinter deck and roof of the citadel were separate from one another, with the roof of the citadel being at waterline. After lots of back and forth in which the devs who actually made a video about the issue, ultimately agreed that it would be better to use the blue print and lowered the citadel for Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina and Montana. Battleship captains rejoiced while Cruiser captains screamed bloody murder and that Cruiser win rates were about to plummet because a few BBs were a bit more survivable now.
I'm a bit confused by this. The "all or nothing" scheme has the MAD at the top of the belt (in terms of height). And this is above the water line. Whereas the Bismarck class for example, the armoured deck is lower than this, but still above the water line. All Citadels must extend to be above the water (at it's highest point), In general for survivability the higher above the water the better (though it becomes harder to protect).
@@notsureyou I think @ChrisRand-gf7lz is wrong in that the Iowa citadel top is above the water line, however as he mentions it is below the lightly armored bomb deck which was designed to initiate the fuse of armor piercing bombs. IIUIC the bomb deck is the main deck of the ship, and the armor deck (the roof of the citadel) is about half way between the main deck and the waterline.

For anyone wondering just how long it takes the Montana's shells to get to where they are going. You see that STOPWATCH just to the bottom left of the aiming reticle? That tells you how many seconds its going to take for your shells to reach the distance you fired at. At 16kms the Montana's shells take 10 seconds to get to that distance. Speaking from XP from both US Cruisers and Battleships, if your shells take longer then 10 or 12 seconds to reach the target "Your doing it wrong" (or maybe i just suck at aiming.). Cus even a battleship will manage to TURN in that amount of time, let alone a Cruiser and thus dodge most of your shells. How many torps can the U 4501 launch you ask Jingles? Quite a few actually, 6 from the Rear (2 separate launchers) and i think 4 or 6 from the Front. Also remember it does like 32-38 knots (something like that) underwater as well. Only like 26 or so on the Surface though.
Ah yes super subs that make 2020 nuclear subs look slow as hell. And what's the counter? direct drop depth charges which were shit and being replaced by ahead throwing mortars from 1942!
While it's possible to avoid all or at least most of the damage at that range that requires that they pay attention to you and aren't locked into a manoeuvre. So you basically have to play mind games. It's pretty much the same with long range torpedoes. (Unless you have enough for the dreaded "wall of skill".)
What OP is describing is what us superunicum call the " 6-9-11 rule": if you are targeting a DD, above 6 secs of flight time you won't hit it, for cruiser it's 9 secs, for BBS is 11 secs. If you are super unicum level with aiming you can add 2 seconds to every number ( talking about a target that it's looking at you and start manouvering when you fire), if you are against a super -unicum you subtract 2 secs ( 4-7-9).
The citadel of the Iowa and Montana was lowered because the blueprints for the Iowa proved that it was below the waterline. WG was forced to capitulate after a 100 page thread (RIP forums). I think the hit box outside the hull thing is still an issue, however. Also, the secondaries are kind of shit compared to other T10 BBs.
The secondaries were never meant to be very strong on the Montana. The point of the ship has always been the main guns. Same with the Vermont, the Yamato, etc. I will say that IRL those 5"/38s were deadly though.
@@thelastholdout The reason why the Montana's secondaries, and by extension the US BBs as a whole, were so bad was because they were meant to be AA powerhouses instead of brawlers. Effectively, before the rework, they were no-fly zones. And then the CV rework happened x.x

As much as it may seem, the original reason to change the citadel was a hitbox bug where you can citadel the ship outside of the hull if you knew where to aim (port side behind #2 turret)
Back when I played Legends I was very much a battleship main, but my brother was a very capable stealth DD main and I paid extremely close attention to every tactic used, so that I could employ tailored counters to them to make life hell for enemy DDs and easier for friendly ones. Prioritising targets that were dangerous to the friendly DDs or likely to protect enemy ones, how to minimise my torpedo target profile, how to spot destroyer hunting grounds, ways they'd misdirect attention, where they'd be likely to have run after torpedo launches. When I was on form I'd be an absolute nightmare for the enemy DDs, especially in my Mutsu or Richelieu. Though the Lyon did pretty well too for sustained cycle fire. One of my favourite tricks? When a destroyer was spotted I'd fire off my next AP salvo to make it look like I wasn't paying attention while I switched to HE. Then I'd keep aiming at my previous target. And keep aiming... And then when the HE was just about to finish loading; rudder hard over, turn the turrets as fast as possible, full salvo or a tight ripple fire at the destroyer and switch entirely to DD-hunting maneuvers.
I noticed a sub named Thresher in the home team. Sorry, but I was triggered. Nuclear Submarine USS Thresher SSN-593 was the first of 2 US Nuc Subs to be lost. I believe it was in 1963. It was the lead ship in a new class and was out on Sea Trials at the time. It was working with a Surface Ship (I think a Destroyer) who had the sub on sonar and recorded every sound the sub made. The Thresher was lost with all hands, but the recording allowed the US Navy to correct the design problem on all other US Submarines. The other Nuc Sub lost was the USS Scorpion SSN-589 in 1968 while in transit from the Med back to Norfolk, Virginia. There is much controversy on the cause of its' loss.

Funnily enough CVs able to kill people on their own from near perfect safety is nothing new. CVs have been doing it since they were introduced in the Alpha. Only difference is now you have a long painful death, where an old RTS CV would just nuke you out of the game in a single attack wave. Oh and current CVs can only spot one flank at a time, where RTS CVs could spot all the flanks at once because they had more squads in the air. It will always be funny to me that after CVs got basically nerfed into the ground, people are NOW calling them overpowered. Leading to Wargaming working on another rework for CVs that may very well make them truly useless as they will no longer be able to spot for themselves outside of when they are going for an attack.(at least as of what we know right now)
Enemy team also deserve some credit for throwing this one, not just the Yamato brawling wrong, but there seemed not to be any sort of coherent intent or strategy from anyone but the Yue Yangs, and in my experience, anyone who whines about their teammates as much as that Alaska B is probably projecting, or compensating for something.
Have they nerfed homing torps from subs? the last time I played sub torps with a single ping would do a 70 degree turn right into you not sail past like that at 15:38.
I don't know the exact numbers, but sub torps stop homing a certain distance away from the target. For BBs that distance is 1.something km (1.6 or 1.9?), i think, whereas for cruisers and especially DDs the distance is too low to be helpful.
4:30 personally more the game moved in time more i liked the NC over the Montana. You get all the joys of the us bb line and none of the the tier 11 , depending on your play time a lot of the tier 10 and on average most of the high tier p2w joys this game has .
so i am very confused, i just watched this same exact video over on another channel and in that replay the ship was camouflaged in a halloween camo, but in this video the ship is not in halloween camo
I just started playing wows again after not playing for the last 2 years. I too have been shocked at how many torpedos those damn subs can pump out. And to make it worse they can change course to follow you! And I thought CVs were broken before I stopped playing….

I was wondering that too but then it was only a single ping and I think those don't do as much for the homing.
I don't know the exact numbers, but sub torps stop homing a certain distance away from the target. For BBs that distance is 1.something km (1.6 or 1.9?), i think, whereas for cruisers and especially DDs the distance is too low to be helpful.
27K to a broadside cruiser: Now that's a paddlin'!
A ship that can pummel you with impunity whilst sitting behind an island undetected? Sounds like a light cruiser Jingles.
Except the Light Cruiser can't spots its targets in that situation.
What’s this jingles complimenting a carrier captain!? What has the worms come to 🤣
Real nice Play
Afternoon Gnome Overlord
4:30 personally more the game moved in time more i liked the NC over the Montana. You get all the joys of the us bb line and none of the the tier 11 , depending on your play time a lot of the tier 10 and on average most of the high tier p2w joys this game has .
Only 14 minutes late. Sweet. ! Chonk!
It didn't help that the enemy Alaska couldn't dodge in the first place as he managed to Austin Powers himself between to Islands
"I don't use tiktok"
Unfathomably based.
It’s Friday. Time to kick back with a cold brewski and Rear Admiral Jingles’ latest video… cheers 😆
MONTANA GAMEPLAY!!!!!! Send that to Flambass and challenge him!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
so i am very confused, i just watched this same exact video over on another channel and in that replay the ship was camouflaged in a halloween camo, but in this video the ship is not in halloween camo
You have the option to disable skins like the halloween and anime collab one in game settings.
This redsuperchat is really full of himself
you can be quite glib, at times. "back problems" indeed.
I just started playing wows again after not playing for the last 2 years. I too have been shocked at how many torpedos those damn subs can pump out. And to make it worse they can change course to follow you! And I thought CVs were broken before I stopped playing….
well, TBF, the chappy was in the clan missing the I.... FAILCO
Jingles attempted to pronounce French names correctly? Good job I was sitting down.
good ol' USSBoatsandHoes.
This was a team effort by both teams..
Fear the Chads!
BONKS represent :)
👍
wasn't Redsuperchat was that ohio player in that Austin video from a few months back?
You need 4 red ships to be alive to get a solo warrior, midway only had 3 when monty went down
It Truely is the End of the world as we know it ! Master Jingles is Parsing a CV !
Does anyone know which ship in WoWs, as of late 2023, has the most heavy broadside?
My guess (not including superships) would be Vermont.
@@clefsan Cristoforo Colombo actually has a slightly heavier broadside in terms of raw damage anyway. CC has 192k alpha from it's 16 381mm guns AP, and Vermont has 189k from it's 12 457mm guns AP.
Morning Mr. Jingles
