Got the same question from my brother yesterday and I’ll give you the same reply. If you need to make many visits to touristic spots, staying in a central location like Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong, is very practical, but we don’t find it charming at all. Next time we stay in Seoul we will have less tourism to do and we will certainly stay in Hongdae/Yeonnamdong, because it’s so lovely and lively day and especially night.
Honestly, I don't recommend Myeong-dong street food. Tourists visiting South Korea always buy Myeongdong street food. South Koreans rarely buy street food there. Myeong-dong is definitely sold for the shopping purpose of foreign tourists. Compared to other areas of Seoul, the prices are very expensive, and the food quality is quite poor. Is Myeongdong-Tour listed in the South Korean travel guidebook? As a South Korean, I don't understand why tourists always visit Myeong-dong. Myeong-dong has a bad reputation among South Koreans. (There are too many people, it is expensive, and the quality is poor..)
Indeed there were tourists there but also Koreans. We can't really say too much about the food, since we only had a couple of snacks there and then dined elsewhere. One of the reasons many people go is probably the fact that the market is a big animation for that area of Seoul which, as I said later in the video, isn't my favourite otherwise. Please give us your favourite street food places and we will try them and cover them in our next visit.
@@ThePathsBeyond There is a high possibility that they are Japanese or Chinese who look similar to Koreans. (In fact, there are far more Japanese and Chinese people in Myeongdong than Koreans.) I don't recommend street food. The hygiene is not good, the quality of ingredients is not good, and the price is not cheap. There is no need to eat Korean street food. A decent restaurant is better.
I am korean. We korean don't eat street food. 😢😢 we eat inside the shop. Because street food is not censored by the government and it doesn't guarantee the safety of foods. Pls eat at the restaurant inside.
You two are so cute! ❤
South Korea is next on my list of countries to visit. In which area of Seoul should I stay?

Besides a couple of snacks the first day, we had ALL our meals sitting in restaurants inside.
Liar. Every Koreans eat street food. Are you Chinese?
It’s difficult to generalize but Chinese eat street food
@@ThePathsBeyond What I mean is that the Chinese person pretends to know the situation in Korea even though he doesn't know it....
Ah ok…it’s an interesting discussion about street food. Reactions seem to really vary from person to person
