- Neck and neck with 11th Hour Racing Team in the Atlantic! This race is a marathon, but one where we try to be as fast as possible all the time. Hear from Rosalin Kuiper and skipper Will Harris onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer has they have taken the lead in this very tight racing in Leg 4 of The Ocean Race.

Rosi ist einfach der Sonnenschein der Crew, immer gut drauf und versteht ihr Handwerk traumhaft. Wie sie beim Smalltalk mit Antoine das Boot bedient ist schon super. Malizia ist augenscheinlich auf dem richtigen Weg, wenn es auch eng zugeht. Antoine ist immer mit dabei und unterstützt die Crew damit auch enorm und liefert tolle Bilder. Weiter so Richtung Newport. 🥰🤗🤗👏⛵️🍀

Rosi is truly a blessing for every crew and every vessel on which she is sailing. I have never seen such a tough, focused and at the same time so humorous sailor being so young. .

Another excellent report by Antoine with stunning images of fast sailing and sailing at night. It seems terribly unfair that Rosie was doing all the grinding and sail adjustments while Will sat back in his bean bag discussing Nico’s strategies. Just kidding Will! For someone who is now an armchair sailor the footage from Malizia is superb. This is one area where modern technology is actually a benefit. Keep grinding Rosie and keep Malizia’s nose in front. 👏

You guys are the greatest! And Rosie is the queen of the Atlantic (and doubtless of the Southern Ocean as well). The question is, when will she skipper her own boat? What a great experience that would be--for her, her crew and all of us. I think most of the planet is hopelessly in lover with her. I've followed all the Ocean Races beginning with the Whitbread and I've never felt so engaged with any other crew, boat or the individuals, although Puma and Ken Read is pretty close. It would be such a great privilege to know each of you personally.
It looks like a great team dynamic. Sure everyone has input but you can see Rosie is only thinking about fast non boat breaking speed. She is not second guessing herself thinking about tactics, there is a time and place for that , but not when making boat go it’s fastest !

In the stronger winds Malizia was much faster than 11th Hour. Now the wind is easing, and the situation is different. The choosing of lane through this part ahead looks tricky. Can even create opportunities for Biotherm to catch up, even if that might be a long shot.
Team Malizia keep calm and stay focussed as much as possible!
even now, with "only" 23 knots boat speed, they are faster than 11h over the last 4 hours with 18.9 vs 17.3 knots... pretty impressive
Malizia is supposed to be a heavy boat for very rough conditions. Actually it seems good in most conditions. The team spirit would make up for any flaws in performance.
I like your videos👍🏼 can you maybe elaborate on what you are mostly triming with the red rope and the display? Main sail and foils? Would be nice to hear 😊

With that red light in the night the cockpit almost looks like a cave. Warm and cozy. And then the camera points outwarts and you see the vast ocean and the speed at which theyre going.

Great job again Rosie and the whole team. What are the keys in the box at the pillar good for where Rosie is „configuring“ something? Adjusting the keel? There are some noise to hear then like an electric motor. Catch 11th hour Rosie 🤙😁
Afaik they have all their electric/hydraulic controls on those 2 pods (on each side of the boat), and some instruments and I think also the autopilot controls.
I'm not 100%, but I think it's only the keel cant that is electro-hydraulic, but maybe also the foil rake, but I think that all foil controls are manual and via ropes on winches.
Pretty sure that the can only use stored energy for the canting keel.
the Ocean race channel actually covered exactly that question in their latest video... yes, one panel is autopilot, the other is keel canting...

Just focus on how on every solo watch every one is CONSTANTLY TWEAKING the boat to keep it flying... While in the Middle of the Ocean! Awesome!

Rosie: focussed multi-tasking. By herself, absorbing all that data from screens, grooving, grinding, adjusting, chatting, enjoying, entertaining us and herself.
It'd be hard to pick which crew member's name to wear
but not personalized, i'm afraid.

G-day Rosie good on ya 🌹gee your giving that coffee grinder some stick must remember never to challange you to an arm wrestle. I can aprecate the constant movement I was a plasterer for most I worked sand & cement mostly out and worked the same way they do in Holland we are very simular in our methods and its hard work just as your doing now I’m not complaining I loved what I did same as you do people would never assocate one with the other but the fisical movement one plasterer can handle up one and half metric tonnes and spread it on the wall in a day if he is good. I sure some smart as already calulated the indirect assocated the amout of stress that to flex you apply to wings each time apply 6:31 force with the grinder to the amount of stress that is to you mucells each time you be surprised by the amount strength your acually applying and understand gearing plays but still reduction couldn’t be that much. 🤨 I’m impressed my friend. Sorry for the boring conversation but if you were interested the comparsion are odd if you con find in many disaplines. I will go get a coffee tell the crew I said hello I seen Will was busy doing his thing with navication. So stay safe get back to the lead go team Malizia❤🫶🦘👍✌️
Right now on position 1 with a speed of 22 kts. Great sailing. Just continue on whatever position and come home in best shape. And: Thanks for your super noisy soundtrack - wil luse it for a documentary about truck driving in Tibetian mountains before falling apart
If there's one thing this race has taught us, it is that no one can take a lead for granted. Holcim discovered that in Leg 3 and 11th Hour also lost the 20 mile lead it held earlier. Even Biotherm has closed the leaders by 20 miles, so anything is possible. I wonder if we will again have the nerve-wracking and topsy-turvy finish to the leg at Newport in practically nil wind conditions that we had in the last Volvo Ocean Race.

Great ! #1 - good crews can smile and laugh even when they have a bit pressure - and MALIZIA is a VERY GOOD CREW !!! you could get the impression, they are just on a 5 hour race and battle a match race - ORDER: not to give up #1 untill Newport !
