lovely hornpipe, in full MacMahon style ... and the stratsphey is lovely... that's a great pupil of Tony, and he'll become one of the best accordionists around
I believe they’re strathspeys played in a Donegal style, aka as highlands. You could probably dance a hornpipe to a highland though, I would like to see that.
Samson: Depending on where you live, it may be called a melodeon or a button accordion/accordeon (and apparently a concertina). Marvin: It may be easy to pick out a tune on an accordion, but very difficult to play well and with both hands. Many instruments played in a "classical orchestra" have fewer keys and no bass.
BlackFolkAndPiano, I think they're highlands not slides. The first one is also a Strathspey and I think it's called Lord Lyle's or something like that.
Not slides, the first tune is a “Donegal highland” or “strathspey”, however you see it, called “The Cat That Kittled in Jamie’s Wig,” based on the reel “Paddy Ryan’s Dream” which in turn is based on the Scottish tune “Miss Lyall”. Lol. The following tune is “King George IV” strathspey, hugely popular in Cape Breton, NS. There’ll be a quiz tomorrow, be sure to study, JK
Fantastic young man he is going places cool as a breeze love it..
He’s been an integral member of the band Altan since the mid-90’s. Many albums recorded.
Huge talent and hard work - what a terrific vid. Inspiring!
This tune is a series of reels pertaining to King's Reel's. A great job!
What do you mean a series pertaining to…? The second tune is King George IV or V… and often leads to the Kings reel, yes.
Wow! The kid was brilliant even then.
bloody hell! I was no where near that good at that age. Dermot Byrne is truly the best Trad Irish button accordionist EVER
Keep playing button accordion!!!!!!! You so good!

Already a master ! Bravo !!
He’s a member of Altan since 1993 I believe. A virtuoso group from the north, the Donegal “supergroup” lol

arf, very good
Can you play Irish washerwoman
I suppose he already is :D
gud
The kid's a virtuoso! Love to see him outside of the room full of mutants that he's performing in.
That's a melodeon
not accordion, accordions have piano keys
A melodeon has only one row of buttons. That is an accordion
Samson James actually it’s a button accordian
Two row button accordion, melodion has one row.
