One of the greatest to ever live in history for traditional Irish music, very underrated, Finbar represents Ireland itself with his compositions he’s made in the past, RIP fucking legend 🇮🇪💙
Can you imagine?!?! Sitting on a thousand year old wall, in amazing Cork, drinking pints and drams and listening to the great Finbarr Dwyer! Just sublime!! How I wish I could have been there!
Well I needent tell you ,That was absolutely brilliant playing ,just the perfect embellishment by a man that could ,This is the first time I heard of this man There's a much younger Finbar o Dwyer ,A great accordion player too ,I taught it was him until I saw the video ..NOW IM WONDERING are they related ,
listening to finbarr for over forty years he was the reason i started playn the box. the accordian is part of his body it sounds as if he was born with it. steve.
The first tune is a variation on his composition Farewell to Kilroe (Cailroe). Quite an interesting one at that. The second kind of sounds like it might be a total reworking of another of his compositions "The Spring Well" but perhaps not. Perhaps someone else has another suggestion?
@BlackFolkAndPiano He is, men like him tried to develop the music along the road of musicality and beauty, unlike some others ! Long may his music live ..and Paddy O'Brien/ Paddy Carty/ Sean Ryan / Samus Ennis/ Paddy Canny/ Paddy Kelly...and a few others who developed without damaging.

Idylic setting, lovely paradise, the fact that he's gone makes it so sad and yet he thrills us with his voice box

Rare footage of a tremendous talent. Rest in peace.
Iheard him in Matt Molloys in 2007.I know nothing about traditional music but I know when I am listening to something special.

After 15 years of dedication my box sounds as disjointed from my body as the day I started playing
Uladach, he's actually playing a D/D# box but "on the draw" (with B/C fingering). Finbarr is the MAN!
My favorite box player and composer.
Great melodic sense ..and imagination. The road less travelled.
Magic Finbar!!!! What a pure musical genius, a GIANT among men!! Hope to see you again Buddy.
R.I.P. A great box player.
I heard him 2 weeks ago in Ennis. He is the BEST!!!!
he's a magician!
RIP Finbarr!

Brilliant. What more can one say, except that he probably was well oiled while playing.
Out on his own .
