My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

I just want to tell you what a breath of fresh air your videos are. Too many others are examples of how to turn a five-minute short into a half hour torture drill. They digress with talking about the weather, what the wife fixed for dinner last night, needing to mow the lawn, etc. Or, they leave the camera running while they rummage through their cluttered workshop looking for a screw or some misplaced part. One guy's narrative was completely drowned out by a TV soap opera blaring in the background. I just cringe when they ask the viewer if you "can see this" when their camera is 25 feet away. It's enough to cause a migrane.
I really appreciate how you get right to the point and begin with a diagnostic/troubleshooting premise, offer helpful problem solving techniques, and then conclude with the steps you take to complete the solution.

Really enjoy your video's as I try to do any/all maintenance on my stuff. The high cost and PITA of taking equipment somewhere conflicts with my DIY nature. Besides, once you see how relatively simple most things are you save money and have the satisfaction of fixing it yourself! Kudos for a great channel.

Another good informative video. Great job. I am on disability and I can't repair stuff fast enough to make good money. But if the preson is not in a hurry I will try and help them out. I picked up a set or the carburetor adjustment screw drivers from your affiliate link. I had a few of them already. However 2 of them cost more then the entire set. Now I am good to go. Thanks for all you do to help us out.

Thanks for sharing. I have made an observation about this saw. I noticed insufficient oil so I took it to my dealer for diagnostics and sharpen chain. Still not oiling so I took it back and they announced that it was fine. I sawed some more, still very little oil. After watching your video, I removed the cover to find much oily debris inside, none, or not much, on the chain. my analysis revealed that, since there is no outer guard (the thin steel piece found against the body of the saw), oil is allowed to pass through the bar, and into the brake/tensioning system. The plastic cover doesn't block this passage as there is open webbing it this location.
I will fabricate a thin metal plate (like every other saw I've seen is equipped with), install it and report back. I found no diagrams that pictured this part.
Thanks for the confidence. Nice job.

it needs to be spelled out: most chain saws are built to go through most of a tank of bar oil every time it goes through a tank of gas. don't just check the oil; top it off, and if it went through significantly less than a tank, check to find out why.
and I always say: buying a cheap grade of oil (rhymes with burex) reduces your oil usage, but I've found it cooks your bar and chain because it doesn't lubricate as well as buying a good brand of oil from your saw shop.

When I was a teen and became an expert lumberjack (NOT, but I was trusted to know everything about its use and allowed to cut) we had a McCulloh yellow/black thinghy and it had a thumb knob next to the handle that oiled the chain. Very trustworthy mechainism if you were conscious to use it right so the chain wouldn't turn purple/blue)
With later saws I purchased the oil pump was invented and I still miss that manual knob. It is always a concern, is it oil is it not? I guess if you see smoke coming out of the log it is not!

However; in this video, when you got down to exposing the oiler and oil pipes you said that the oil lines looked ok but because this was a warranty repair you were going to replace them anyway........but you didn't, and you didn't mention them again. Sorry, but I'm a stickler for detail.

my friend has some regular blowers hand blowers and stuff that will not run and I'm normally good at fixing them and getting things to run and everything but I just haven't been having any luck with them

Thank you for the great video. I'm working on my cs-440 echo and the washer thet covers the worm gear seems to be stuck to the crank shaft. it's 19 years old. I loostened the pump and I can jamb a small screwdriver inthe crack and I can pull the rope. I saw you easily remove with a knife blade. Any tips on getting that washer off?? Thank you

The oiler on my CS310 stopped working. I watched your video and I’m going to fix it myself.
