Great video!! Another option too is the Ektos 100% wool blanket. It is 66" x 90", 5.5 pounds, and is navy blue in color. The price on Amazon is $49 with free shipping. Ektos has four blankets available, the previously mentioned one, a 90% gray wool blanket that is 4.4 pounds at 66" x 90 for $29. Then there is the green one that is 90% wool that is 4 pounds for $29, and last but not least, is the brown 80% wool blanket that is $24. All of them are available on Amazon.
Finally a cheap wool blanket that doesn't itch! Glad to hear that it doesn't get itchy on your skin Luke. I have a couple of other wool blankets and they would be great if they didn't make me itch so much.
Thanks Luke. I received my blanket today. It's everything you said it would be. Can't wait to use it. Also the company is everything you have said it is. Very happy "camper"!
just ordered 3 for my kids. We have been turning the thermostat down to 60f at night during the winter to save energy (1% per 1F over an 8hour time frame ) and were using electric blankets. Was never a huge fan of them, glad to be upgrading to wool blankets. (UPDATE) 3-9-2019, got these in, they are nice and heavy. they do have a bit of an industrial and or a funky smell to to them, nothing super strong though. Contacted swiss link for washing instructions, waiting for a response. Kids used them for the first time overnight and said they were very comfortable to warm in them with the house at 60f overnight.
I love these guys. I am a woolie for sure (even my underwear and Tshirts) and I cant say enough about Swisslink. The solids are pretty soft and all varieties are affordable. Their "itallian officers reproduction" is a bit scratchier and stiffer than the other models, and its more of a woven style, where the others are more of a felted type. They are 80% which means that althpugh it is a blend, it still retains the properties of the wool. anything less and the properties drop out very quickly; any more wool content and the price skyrockets. I have some in my bed, some in a canvas bedroll style sleeping bag, and I use them to make my own wool shorts (try finding wool shorts that hold up to life in the woods). They are also local here, and while they do not have a store (online only) a local store does carry them at the same prices. Being local, I can tell you that this guy lost his entire business in the infamous "camp" fire when the whole town burnt. He is back at it and not only is it a great product at a good price; but the money is going to a small business with ethics rather than a global mega corp.
Hello Luke, just wanted to say another great review video,, you really are the best in the game and look forward to your reviews and especially your over night videos 10/10 my friend!!!
$35 for a wool blanket even at 80% wool is hard to believe and we are mot getting the whole story as it is probably recycled wool. The size is great for wrapping into. But I am suspect about the price.
Yankee Generally, it just means gear made from common and simple materials or made to resemble an historic woodsman our craftsman tool. So, leather satchel instead of polyester bag. Wool blanket instead of thinsulate. But, every "bushcrafter" winds up carrying a mix of gear, and certain items are almost always made of more modern and less common materials. Knives, for example. People don't often want them in the more crude, simple steels and patterns of the past. They want supersteels and "true scandi" grinds even though nearly every historic woodsman used a knife with a micro-convex edge. But, an item is generally considered to have a bushcrafty quality if it's made of simple, common materials and is part of the repertoire of gear used by the historic woodsmen of whatever region you're from.
Yup. You can't even have a dog in the woods anymore. Now they are bushcraft dogs. Coffee & bacon for breakfast? Nope. Not they are bushcraft coffee and bushcraft bacon for a bushcraft breakfast. OH! And let's not forget, can't make it over a campfire anymore. Now, we have to make them over a bushcraft fire. LOL

@@impermanenthuman8427 well, lets see. The snugpack is $49 currently, and the swagman roll is $149. Thats as far as got. My thoughts? It sounds like a sleeping bag insulation. Thats a simple solution. ua-cam.com/video/ox_sh5h0HoI/v-deo.html
Would this be warm enough to sleep in outdoors in say 5celcius (40fahrenheit) without a tent? I will be sleeping at campsites which are outdoor but sheltered and have hard wooden "bunk beds" to sleep on. Would it be sufficiently warm?
Is this blanket flame proof or have a treatment on it? Even if you lost a bet you sure look younger. At least Lukey didn't have you shave off all your body hair. Ouch!!!!
Haha! The best wool blanket for the price is EKTOS 100% Virgin wool, 66x90inches, 5.5lb. And 50 bucks. 15 more than your choice, is larger, is thicker, is 100% virgin wool instead of these military surplus blankets that are made out of recycled wool fibers which are.. Inferior. EKTOS also makes a 4.4lb blanket, 90% wool, at around the same price, with 70% of the wool content being virgin wool. Never ceases to amaze me how many "bushcrafters" know absolutely nothing about wool, wool quality, and wool maintenance, just a continuous stream of people regurgitating the same stuff they read on some bushcrafters website without any actual knowledge behind it.
yeah, so 100% are not available, you cant even buy from their web site, they just have a link to amazon, which is out of stock. Says nothing about about it being virgin wool on their site, only that theirs are better because they are new, not surplus(used). Only one is in stock is the 90% green and it is $47 bucks.
MONEY, 100% wool is the best, but it is also very expensive....for a quality blanket your talking 80 bucks being cheap, going upwards towards $120 and beyond for a nicer one in 100% wool. I spent $163.00 for my 100% wool 500gsm queen blanket for my bed.

Maybe he's waiting for cooler weather?
I'm about to head out on the next overnight trip and I have a plan for the following trip, then it will be a bushcraft adventure. - Luke

No one mentioning the lack of beard and the adoption of the moustache? Looking sharp big guy!
I have one (the Swiss repro)... it's pretty sweet! I use that with a flannel sheet, and it's more than enough to keep me cozy!
I was sleeping under wool balnket Rodopa from Bulgaria. It was very cold. I try this swiss link. I like blankets, because of the comfort.
Lol... I noticed the scruff. Could've been a worse way to lose a bet! Lol thanks for sharing this blanket! Been looking for a wool blanket

I just bought the 100% Wool blanket by Ektos from Amazon for $50.
5lbs 66"x90". For camping .
It's very heavy for on the bed.

Thanks. Make a blanket coat out of it with a hood on it. It will be warmer.
US Army wool blanket size specs are 66"x90" but they are a little larger than that when new. After a year or two of use they shrink to 66"x90"

Nice! Looks like a great value.
Ordered 2 of the blankets ...and lucas gotcha good lol

Hey Luke, what has happened to Campers Cafe... Haven't seen one in awhile... Love that series
I've got another one coming up next week. Thanks Jim. - Luke
Thank you 👍.
Do you still have this blanket and did you wash it successfully?
How does it hold up to washing? I have had a military surplus blanket that when washed was a mess.
Rather have a queen size 100% wool blanket
seems like a good product
We'll Luke what was the bet?
Excellent price
What's the temperature range that you use this blanket in where you were able to sleep comfortably?

i don't believe it has any fire retardants, it does not say on the web site. wool is naturally fire resistant though
