I could go on, but I don't need to. just look up other down camping products and compare it with new eyes. however if you give this a try, don't use it for anything riskier than car-camping where you can bail easily
I think the medium size is a good size for an addition to an existing sleep system. You can slide it inside your bag or whatever. But for a stand alone blanket I would rather have the larger one. Nice video. It was 13 degrees here in idaho this morning. Probably need 4 of those things. Lol
It might be interesting to try. I just did an overnight in my hammock at ~27°F, and had a similar blanket on top of my quilt. The problem I had was that they slip and slide against either like crazy. My torso was fine, but I couldn't keep the top one over my feet. I'm not sure if that's a size problem, but I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to clip layered blankets together somehow.
Great video Luke, as always! So there are a couple of things that you can do with any blanket you take camping with you. #1: You can put the blanket inside your sleeping bag and stay warmer, especially in colder weather. #2: You can wrap the blanket on the outside of you sleeping bag and use it that way. I have found over the years that putting a blanket inside the sleeping bag works best!!!
I get most of those pros from my poncho liner and it have been proven throughout my military tenure from the South weather, Desert, and Artic training.
I use this to complement my 3 season bag (I am military) and the combination of the two is excellent. In warmer areas its fine just on its own, but as an addition inside my bag its a great addition especially if restricted to a small bergen. Great as an easily stuffable warm layer for a cold vehicle or aircraft trip too.
After the first review, I purchased this with the thought of using it for camping. Well, I got it and decided it was the perfect size for my futon/couch so it may never see camping. I did experience some drafty parts when snuggled down but I solved that by making a duvet cover. No more cold spots, or sliding away in the middle of the night. It is absolutely perfect for my winter blanket in my house. Had I not seen that first review, I never would have tried it. So a big shoutout. Thanks bunches.

Your comments are 100 percent in line with my experience with this product. I began with the small size and purchased the larger size when the weather cooled. I liked the utility of the materials and the textures. This also makes a fine overquilt on a bed during cold weather.
I own a quilt from Enlightened Equipment. It is a 10 degree bag/quilt convert. I LOVE it! It is light and warm and packs down small. But it cost almost $700. Getting a OneTigris blanket to add several more ten-degrees of warmth to my sleep system for just $70 sounds like a great bargain!
My understanding of using a blanket, is that you are insulated from below by your mattress and the blanket goes over the top. Some have straps that connect under the mattress to keep it in place. I'm not a fan of blankets. In warmer areas, I tend to use an open sleeping bag like a blanket until it cools down. Then I slip inside. You can't really use a blanket like a sleeping bag, but you can use a sleeping bag like a blanket.
@@tomsitzman3952 You were lucky to have a quilt. We had to use a wet newspaper. (In the voice of Eric Idle.) Modern camping quilts are designed to be part of a sleeping system. The quilt can be secured to the sleeping pad/air mattress so it doesn't slide off or leave gaps. Using a quilt as a sleeping bag would require it be of sufficient size to fold securely under your body. Even then, as you move around at night, you'll leave gaps and have to re-wrap. When it's warmer, I can unzip the sleeping bag and use it as a quilt. I can unzip it halfway and use it as a half quilt. When I move around, it doesn't come unzipped. I have done this since the late 1960's.
I thing the larger one would make a decent down comforter for inside. I like to open my bedroom window for fresh air at night even when it gets into the 50s or high 40s.
Have used one for a while now, use it mostly for hammock camping in all weathers. Use it as an add on to my sleeping system in some cases. Your review is on point! 👍
I have that quilt and it works great for me in a hammock during the warmer seasons and I thought the cost was fine but the more they do to it could also drive up the cost even more than what it is but iI think it's fine for what it is and cost. Great video Luke
I think adding a zipper moves this product outside the realm of a blanket, but cord loops in the corners would be nice. I wonder how snapping two mediums together would work?
The woobie with the zipper is my favorite piece of kit. Blanket or bag, both setups work. Putting a zipper on the big version of this would be awesome!

Not a fan of down insulation. I prefer my Snugpak Jungle blanket. Rated to the same temps but cheaper to buy and packs down smaller. Comes in two sizes too. Great review though. How about reviewing the Snugpak blanket.
Thanks for this! I have a similar product from Mont Bell, but it is much more versatile as it has draw pulls on 2 sides, can snap into a sleeping bag shape and can transform into a pillow by stuffing it into its own integrated pocket. It is my favorite gear product by far!
The blanket is ok but I think the Onewind quilt/blanket/poncho may be a better option. I have tried it in the 40s as a top quilt and kept me warm….Luke reviewed this product some time ago…check it….

Another comment, for cold over-quilting to an existing sleep system I've found that synthetic is superior since the moisture and frosting that form at the outer layer will compromise feather down but not synthetics. This is an important consideration when it's cold enough to add an extra layer to your sleep system. The more moisture that gets into down, the more the insulative value drops. Better to keep your feathers dry inside and synthetics on the outside in cold weather. I'm still loving my $65 buck Onewind Hammock Top Quilt with Footbox for an overquilt or mild weather sleeper. For real cold I put my 20 degree Kelty Cosmic down bag inside and the Onewind on the outside.

I did too! LOL. For some random reason the initial video was shown on my YT start page and I watched it. It was on Cyber Monday sale on Amazon for $54.98 so I grabbed it. Given that price, I don't think I have anything to complain about. Plus I'm in Florida, not NC (though I do want to go there for some camping trips!)
I own one of these and I got it as a throw over blanket to extend the warmth rating of my sleeping bag, as my sole insulation thrown over a sheet for summer nights that cool in the morning hours, and for travel insulation in case the vrbo I’m staying in doesn’t have blankets when needed. It works superbly for all of those. As for the upgrades you mention any features you add will increase the cost. A zipper won’t allow you to compress it as much and adds weight as well. What I’d like to see is a one inch piece of nylon bias tape sewn around three sides, leaving one of the short sides without the tape. Sew the tape into the outer seam 1/4 inch leaving 3/4 inches of the tape sticking out. On the smaller blanket you now have a surface you can use to take those small metal office style clips and clip to the tape and run a piece of parachute cord under your sleeping pad so that the blanket won’t slide off of you during the night (which it does regularly because the taffeta is so slick). It would also allow you to hang it on a clothesline more efficiently. On the larger blanket you could sew random strips of velcro to the tape so that when you fold it in half length ways you can make a great summer weight sleeping bag. The velcro doesn’t need to be continuous as the loft of the bag will help seal it good enough for a summer night. Remember that when you lay down on a down sleeping bag your body weight compresses the down under you to where it has virtually no loft and is rendered practically useless as to warmth. Your pad does the work of insulating you from the ground. Which brings me back to the smaller blanket with that tape sewn on. You could use those metal clips to clip it to the perimeter fabric on some styles of pads, like Thermarest, and get a seal that way too.
Good review, I can attest to one of the use cases you described. I've got version 1 of this blanket, and it's so light and compressible that I always have it in my pack and pull it out whenever I need to supplement my sleeping bag. I'm strictly a late May- early Oct camper and the lowest temp I've had it at was 36 degrees F (2 C). Between my sleeping bag (which has a 59/46/26 F rating) and this blanket, I was fine and able to keep warm.
I need to get something llike this for my dad. It doesn't get too xold down here in Florida, but he is in his 70's and has diabetes with poor circulation so his kegs get cold and cramp. He needs something soft and doesn't get too hot. Keeps him just warm enough. I got him a wool lined down (alternative)..I didn't see the 'alternative' part until later. Unfortunately it came apart and the fill didn't last very well in the washing machine. He had a nice soft 'woobie' blanket that was very similar to his blanket he had as a Marine in 'Nam. Someone stole that though. Broke my heart as he truly loved that and the ones out now are so expensive or are fakes. Too many people wanting to be 'tacticool' buy the military gear so they can brag about how their buddy 'in the teams' or 'with the unit' got them one after they usually beat the other guy in a shooting competition or some other thing they are lying about.

I got a winter camping trip with the boys coming up next year at Hoosier state national forest and I'm looking to get more gear that will make the trip more Comfortable.

Luke, Check out the 2Go Systems hybrid blanket. It has all the features you found missing in this OneTigris blanket & it comes in two temperature rating levels. Bonus, the company is American-based. I believe it’s located in New Hampshire.
I bought a down blanket on sale from Sportsmans Warehouse. I think I paid $30. It was spectacular! It kept me warm at about 40 degrees without issue, and I just slept with the blanket on top of me while laying on a pillow and my Klymit insulated inflatable pad.

Love all your reviews luke!! So far the only one that ever let me down was the camping fan that plugs into a charging block. I really wanted to like that fan but within days of use the cord just fell outta the fan. Was kinda bummed but for the money it wasn't a big loss. I guess i got a dud?.. Looks like the large version would be a good addition to a bushcrafty wool blanket/match coat sleep & jacket system. Aside from the fun aspect, the wool would protect this from sparks from a fire and would help prevent a slip into a river from becoming a hypothermia emergency.
I own the smaller size. I believe I bought the larger and returned for the smaller. I am short. The larger size did not make sense. I love it. I have not used it camping yet I use it at home. It will go on my next cold weather trip for sure. Hmm. Where did I put the transport bag.
I have the small version for warm weather camping, but I am not impressed. I got cold even though is was just a cool night. Maybe with a zipper it would be warmer. It is made very well, but that is about the best thing about it!
I agree have the swagman roll and like all the different configurations it can be used in, and it zips up like a bag. I also have a military poncho liner that zips, but I like the blanket but agree the zipper would take it to the next level. Also another good blanket I like alit and use a lot and it’s warm is the snugpack jungle blanket.
Modify the hell out of that blanket! Order the largest size, and add your own snaps, and zipper (I like the draw-string idea). Being able to use it as a quilt underpad for my hammock would be a stellar bonus.
I use the Jungle blanket XL, what I do, is get some bungy cord and tie it off, so my pad stops heat loss and the jungle blanket stays on, gets wet in the UK, so down isnt always the best choice.

I have the regular version, and it's great, i use it on top of my sleeping bag for very cold nights in the mountains and it keeps me toasty warm, if i'm sharing my tent, it will cover my partner too
Nice review thanks. Something to try, with the larger blanket, would be too fold it around you like they do with the wool blanket. I will try to explain. Lie diagonally across the blanket with your head towards the corner. Then fold the bottom corner up over your feet, to creat the start of a foot box. Next fold in the two side corners, one at a time and wrap around the body. I am not sure if the snaps could be used to secure the blanket (it does not have the weight or friction that a wool blanket would have. Attaching some Velcro patches strategically would do the trick though. Just chucking an idea out there. I have no idea how well it would work. Personally I would not buy this as there are already rectangular sleeping bags out there, with a zip that lets you open it up completely to use it like a blanket. I have the Naturehike CW400 sleeping bag that does this, and it has a hood. It also comes in two sizes. It is 750 FP down.
The improvements you suggest sound like they turn it into a down version of the Helikon Tex Swagman. Great versatile product, could use a bit more insulation but I'd be reluctant to use down for all its humidity issues. Actually, I use a similar blanket and the Swagman together.
I have the smaller version of this quilt and like it very much. I'm a very cold sleeper but with an insulated sleeping pad, it is perfect. Are you asking them to make it a sleeping bag with a zipper? That isn't what I want from it. Additional features may not increase the weight, but would increase the price. For the price, it is exactly what I need. If you want a sleeping bag with a zipper, buy a sleeping bag. That wasn't what I was looking for when I bought mine.

Most OneTigris stuff is very good. They occasionally make some bad mistakes, but the real measure is in whether they fix their products, and their current track record is good.
I got one one these for $50 but my cat took it over :( The good news is that even though she makes biscuits, somehow she hasn't ripped it open yet. I did use it to survive one night in a hammock at 42 degrees. Wasn't warm but it wasn't that bad.
Now to fashion it after the Helikon Tex Swagman roll, particularly in the large and with a matching poncho. Then you've got me interested, and I'd feel comfortable using it in a 3 season situation. Says the 6'3" man who weighs 300lb.

You can still use your quilt for camping. All my gear is used both at home and on the trail. I guess I'm a little Old School.

I'm still using the Snugpak Jungle Survival Blanket you recommended 8 years ago.
I got the 1.0 version, it does great in the late spring, summer and early fall months. When car camping I'll use it as an extra layer in my hammock.

the problem with down filled items are once it gets wet it has no insulating properties at all.

The blanket is ok but I think the Onewind quilt/blanket/poncho may be a better option. I have tried it in the 40s as a top quilt and kept me warm….Luke reviewed this product some time ago…check it….

I have to say I was really impressed with the AquaQuest tarps etc that you reviewed! Because of that, I saw some of their other products, which seem like good choices for camping gear!
Thanks Luke!! Love your reviews Sir. To answer your Qs, I'd go large. Another comment, for cold over-quilting to an existing sleep system I've found that synthetic is superior since the moisture and frosting that form at the outer layer will compromise feather down but not synthetics. This is an important consideration when it's cold enough to add an extra layer to your sleep system. The more moisture that gets into down, the more the insulative value drops. Better to keep your feathers dry inside and synthetics on the outside in cold weather. I'm still loving my $65 buck Onewind Hammock Top Quilt with Footbox for an overquilt or mild weather sleeper. For real cold I put my 20 degree Kelty Cosmic down bag inside and the Onewind on the outside.

I did too! LOL. For some random reason the initial video was shown on my YT start page and I watched it. It was on Cyber Monday sale on Amazon for $54.98 so I grabbed it. Given that price, I don't think I have anything to complain about. Plus I'm in Florida, not NC (though I do want to go there for some camping trips!)
I own one of these and I got it as a throw over blanket to extend the warmth rating of my sleeping bag, as my sole insulation thrown over a sheet for summer nights that cool in the morning hours, and for travel insulation in case the vrbo I’m staying in doesn’t have blankets when needed. It works superbly for all of those. As for the upgrades you mention any features you add will increase the cost. A zipper won’t allow you to compress it as much and adds weight as well. What I’d like to see is a one inch piece of nylon bias tape sewn around three sides, leaving one of the short sides without the tape. Sew the tape into the outer seam 1/4 inch leaving 3/4 inches of the tape sticking out. On the smaller blanket you now have a surface you can use to take those small metal office style clips and clip to the tape and run a piece of parachute cord under your sleeping pad so that the blanket won’t slide off of you during the night (which it does regularly because the taffeta is so slick). It would also allow you to hang it on a clothesline more efficiently. On the larger blanket you could sew random strips of velcro to the tape so that when you fold it in half length ways you can make a great summer weight sleeping bag. The velcro doesn’t need to be continuous as the loft of the bag will help seal it good enough for a summer night. Remember that when you lay down on a down sleeping bag your body weight compresses the down under you to where it has virtually no loft and is rendered practically useless as to warmth. Your pad does the work of insulating you from the ground. Which brings me back to the smaller blanket with that tape sewn on. You could use those metal clips to clip it to the perimeter fabric on some styles of pads, like Thermarest, and get a seal that way too.
Good review, I can attest to one of the use cases you described. I've got version 1 of this blanket, and it's so light and compressible that I always have it in my pack and pull it out whenever I need to supplement my sleeping bag. I'm strictly a late May- early Oct camper and the lowest temp I've had it at was 36 degrees F (2 C). Between my sleeping bag (which has a 59/46/26 F rating) and this blanket, I was fine and able to keep warm.

I need to get something llike this for my dad. It doesn't get too xold down here in Florida, but he is in his 70's and has diabetes with poor circulation so his kegs get cold and cramp. He needs something soft and doesn't get too hot. Keeps him just warm enough. I got him a wool lined down (alternative)..I didn't see the 'alternative' part until later. Unfortunately it came apart and the fill didn't last very well in the washing machine. He had a nice soft 'woobie' blanket that was very similar to his blanket he had as a Marine in 'Nam. Someone stole that though. Broke my heart as he truly loved that and the ones out now are so expensive or are fakes. Too many people wanting to be 'tacticool' buy the military gear so they can brag about how their buddy 'in the teams' or 'with the unit' got them one after they usually beat the other guy in a shooting competition or some other thing they are lying about.
I would get the large one. Or 2 medium ones and using them together.
Looks neat but for a little bit less money I can get a snugpak jungle XL.

thanks for the review bud.. tbh I won't buy any camping gear over 50 bucks without your review 🤣 I'm 5'5 ft so the fact that this blanket is to small for you shows that I for sure need the larger one lol. I got a winter camping trip with the boys coming up next year at Hoosier state national forest and I'm looking to get more gear that will make the trip more Comfortable.
I like the larger version. More versatile. Especially to wrap around my hammock to keep me warm.
A zipper for the blanket, check yeah. For camping that be awesome. Had a downy coat that was great at -20. Wishing I kept it. Great video

Horizon Hound GR-20 is the answer. Well made, well filled, just over 1lb, compacts far better than the OT, and it's $88. I'm a clean 6' and it covers me just fine; I was worried it'd be too small but that's not the case.
We have 3 of these and like them, but the feathers, oh the feathers. So many all over the tent in the morning, with all 3 of them in use.
I agree with you luke. I also think you should definitely take the bkanket to an alteration specialist and grt a zipper sewn in. Then we can get version 2.0 review video on it. Ha ha

Medium would work great for me in my camper as my bed size is 45" wide and draft protection isn't needed. I like it.

I have both and I love them I added buttons to both of mine to make them more functional with different stuff
Decathlon makes on with a zipper synthetic filled for summer have a look just missing 4 grummits in the corner to make a nice underquilt

Been looking for a wooby, didn’t know anyone else made a like product might have to try this one.
I bought a down blanket on sale from Sportsmans Warehouse. I think I paid $30. It was spectacular! It kept me warm at about 40 degrees without issue, and I just slept with the blanket on top of me while laying on a pillow and my Klymit insulated inflatable pad.

Love all your reviews luke!! So far the only one that ever let me down was the camping fan that plugs into a charging block. I really wanted to like that fan but within days of use the cord just fell outta the fan. Was kinda bummed but for the money it wasn't a big loss. I guess i got a dud?.. I'm still searching for a good camping fan for the summer months. Keep up the great work man! Hike on!

Looks like the large version would be a good addition to a bushcrafty wool blanket/match coat sleep & jacket system. Aside from the fun aspect, the wool would protect this from sparks from a fire and would help prevent a slip into a river from becoming a hypothermia emergency.

I like a fleece blanket for sleeping in cold, I'm big n tall so I get a queen size and it covers me just fine
I own the smaller size. I believe I bought the larger and returned for the smaller. I am short. The larger size did not make sense. I love it. I have not used it camping yet I use it at home. It will go on my next cold weather trip for sure. Hmm. Where did I put the transport bag.
I say go with the bigger one , when i used the one i have i just laid it on top of me but i had a nice sleeping pads with a 6.5 r value
I bought a down blanket and the fluff is great and it’s supper warm. It’s a no name but excellent and I paid $59

Good ideas for improvements
I have the small version for warm weather camping, but I am not impressed. I got cold even though is was just a cool night. Maybe with a zipper it would be warmer. It is made very well, but that is about the best thing about it!
I agree have the swagman roll and like all the different configurations it can be used in, and it zips up like a bag. I also have a military poncho liner that zips, but I like the blanket but agree the zipper would take it to the next level. Also another good blanket I like alit and use a lot and it’s warm is the snugpack jungle blanket.
Modify the hell out of that blanket! Order the largest size, and add your own snaps, and zipper (I like the draw-string idea). Being able to use it as a quilt underpad for my hammock would be a stellar bonus.
Sounds like the Swagman Roll meets your needs with no mods necessary. Could have saved $60 :-)

I use the Jungle blanket XL, what I do, is get some bungy cord and tie it off, so my pad stops heat loss and the jungle blanket stays on, gets wet in the UK, so down isnt always the best choice.

I have the regular version, and it's great, i use it on top of my sleeping bag for very cold nights in the mountains and it keeps me toasty warm, if i'm sharing my tent, it will cover my partner too

Something to try, with the larger blanket, would be too fold it around you like they do with the wool blanket. I will try to explain.
Lie diagonally across the blanket with your head towards the corner. Then fold the bottom corner up over your feet, to creat the start of a foot box. Next fold in the two side corners, one at a time and wrap around the body. I am not sure if the snaps could be used to secure the blanket (it does not have the weight or friction that a wool blanket would have. Attaching some Velcro patches strategically would do the trick though.
Just chucking an idea out there. I have no idea how well it would work.
Personally I would not buy this as there are already rectangular sleeping bags out there, with a zip that lets you open it up completely to use it like a blanket. I have the Naturehike CW400 sleeping bag that does this, and it has a hood. It also comes in two sizes. It is 750 FP down.

The improvements you suggest sound like they turn it into a down version of the Helikon Tex Swagman. Great versatile product, could use a bit more insulation but I'd be reluctant to use down for all its humidity issues. Actually, I use a similar blanket and the Swagman together.
I would not want a zipper, but a drawstring pull on the end could be easily done. If I get one, I'll probably sew a drawing sleeve on the bottom.
I have the smaller version of this quilt and like it very much. I'm a very cold sleeper but with an insulated sleeping pad, it is perfect. Are you asking them to make it a sleeping bag with a zipper? That isn't what I want from it. Additional features may not increase the weight, but would increase the price. For the price, it is exactly what I need. If you want a sleeping bag with a zipper, buy a sleeping bag. That wasn't what I was looking for when I bought mine.

Most OneTigris stuff is very good. They occasionally make some bad mistakes, but the real measure is in whether they fix their products, and their current track record is good.
For a hammock, the medium is perfect.
I got one one these for $50 but my cat took it over :( The good news is that even though she makes biscuits, somehow she hasn't ripped it open yet. I did use it to survive one night in a hammock at 42 degrees. Wasn't warm but it wasn't that bad.
Now to fashion it after the Helikon Tex Swagman roll, particularly in the large and with a matching poncho. Then you've got me interested, and I'd feel comfortable using it in a 3 season situation.
