This helped me out so much had my sv6 for a year no rear light got hassled at Pink slip had a look wasn't connected to wire plugged in now works saved me money appreciate this video others where not as helpful
Frank, you are a wonderful UA-cam Instructor! The only words of advice I would add in NOV 2019 is: it is a TORX #T20 (#2 in my Tool Set) in case you need to remove or adjust the three screws Frank mentions. The other advice: I incorrectly connected the DC power backwards the first time and it didn't work. (There are only two ways to connect it.) So I reversed it and it worked like a CHAMP! For those of us that still drive Pontiac G8's here in the States, we appreciate your Video!!!
This answered a few questions I had. Honestly I had no idea how to start and didn't want to take a gamble just pulling at the cover. Thanks for making this Frank, good stuff! :)
Thanks for the video. If only you had explained the removal of the red bezel as you did with the black cover. I got the cover off but no idea what to do with the bezel. You showed the tabs but now what?
Frank that was a great help light was ok but build up of dirt around light did not know how to get to it to clean screen country car red dust thanks again
I encounted problems, first you can't see what you are doing, second the LED board would not release out of the housing, seems to be held in by 4 lugs, pulling it up by just grabbing it did not work, I suggest leavering the board up from one side first. than the other, Next it would not hold, going back in; just kept jumping out, I was slotting it down into 3 not 4 lugs, now its still too loose for my liking, lastly the red lens would not go back on without the board jumping out. But I eventually got it with a lot of fiddling. It may be easier to unscrew the assembly, the plasic cover it seems to be held by 3 torx screws, with the heads on the roof side, so how do you pull the head lining down without breaking or bending it far enough to unscrew them? Used a test lamp to check battery and earth, which was OK. Looked like a dry joint on the connector terminal, gave it a good re-melt but still did not work, so I brought a new board from Holden cost arround $62, Interestingly the sales guy asked if I wanted the board or the assembly, this makes me suspect there is a design issue here.
I forgot to mention that I was able to purchase the new "motherboard" LED Strip from www.CarID.com (GM Original Part# 92198828 by AC Delco) for $81.92 plus Sales Tax + Delivery to Texas.

Nice Frank. Keep this up because I'm keeping my Pontiac G8 forever. It also came from Elizabeth, AU
Thank you Frank👍
Thanks for the video! Any idea what the issue is if the light is just working but really dim?

Finally figured it out. When you have someone to hold the light cover down for you, looking through the window makes the 3 tabs much more obvious. 👍
Thanks Frank. Very helpful.
Extremely helpful video! Thanks for taking the time to show us how it's done.
