I was at a live concert of them in January 2023. And they do sound exactly the same when playing live. A real pleasure to hear that with your own ears in good quality.
The weird chord changes during the build-up came from how the song was constructed - the whole thing was written and performed from scratch in a six day period, where the entire process was livestreamed. Not only that, but the fans present would also vote on various parts of the song - keys, tempos, time signatures, instruments used, vocal styles used, etc. Hence why Einar used every vocal trick in his book, why so many instruments were used, and why three _wildly_ different keys were used in the composition. Accounting for those three keys is why that build-up had so many wild modulations.
Everyone's recommending "Slave" which is great, but I think "Acquired Taste" from the same show as Slave (Live at Rockefeller) is even more impressive. Hope you can get to all of them!
Einar is amazing! Them performing Slave live at Rockefeller Music Hall might show how incredible is their live performance. Now talking about other amazing vocal performer, if u have some time, check Devin Townsend!! Watch him playing Kingdom live at EMG TV :) Thanks for uploading!
I think most people would probably recommend Slave by leprous in a live video, which is a great choice. However, I would say Acquired Taste is an even better song that they have live on youtube. thanks for doing the thing :^)
He his a real singer, no autotune whatsoever. Listen is ability to easily switch from plain voice to head voice and vice versa in the live version too. His vibrato is not large and nevertheless, he accurately gets the notes to the exact tone everytime live which is harder then when one has a large vibrato as you know already. The fact that he scream sings in the songs, during 90 min concert and still able to reach the same highest note as in the album version is outstanding and proves his endurance. Listen to the night time disguise live at Berlin 2022. He is top notch on the live just as in the studio version. The whole band is outstanding and Baard behind the drums kit is amazing. He has the same precision as Gavin Harrison who is my number one drummer. Leprous is one hell of a band. I sing but I m a drummer at the first place, those guys just amaze me everytime I listen to their music. Have you done first reaction of Pain of salvation too? I m new to the channel. Greetings from Belgium.
My personal favorite live video is "Contaminate Me," which also features Ihsahn as a guest. Ihsahn kind of helped make this band exist in the first place. Leprous ultimately started off as Ihsahn's live backing band.
Love their nod to Porcupine Tree’s “Arriving Somewhere but Not Here” not just the chords/melody but even the moment where even the vocals “synchronize” reminds me of Steve Wilson’s vocal line. Super cool!
Einar's such a vocal badass...I agree with Henrique about Slave which is live, and also about checking out Devin! Slave is great live, there are also some recent live versions of the newest stuff that you can check out. Idk if it's worth "reacting" to but you can likely easily find it if you search "Leprous Nighttime Disguise Live" on youtube. I would be very curious for your take on Einar's earlier singing, particularly on a track like Coal or Forced Entry. Also, have you heard the band Agent Fresco? If not, check out Dark Water or Howls ASAP...there are live versions as well I believe. will doublecheck after I post this and reply with a link to at least one of those. =)
They composed this song on a livestream with the aid of fans to vote on where to take the song. That's the context of the video, showing what was going on in the studio as they wrote and recorded it.
Enjoyed the video, Einar is just one of vocalists that mesmerizes me every time I hear him (Have been binging them relentlessly for months now). I think everyone else here has nailed the recommended live songs (Slave, Contaminate Me, Acquired Taste, all of these from the Rockefeller performance), so I was going to suggest a completely different band, but one that has kept me interested since discovering them and most of it is because of their vocalist. The band is Starsailor, song is "Way to Fall", outside of the UK they seem to be quite unknown, but of all the videos ive seen of their frontman James Walsh, I dont think hes ever had a bad performance, tremendous vibrato in nearly every note. Look forward to whats to come!
Few more songs, aside the ones you have already been suggested. Below, Coma and Third Law. Honestly this band is such a gem, and with the talent of the members it's hard to go wrong. If you want to hear where they came from, Bilateral and Coal are essential.
I really enjoy your reactions, thank you :-) you might like Michael Lessard @The Contortionist and Spencer Sotelo @Periphery I would love to see you reacting to 😎

This is the future of music.
@@Dennzer1 you ain't wrong ngl

Agree totally 🙂👍
I agree but I still think Slave is a better introduction to learning that fact.
Acquired Taste is my favourite song of theirs. Specially made a fan vid for it to do it justice which Vin and Sori used as they reacted to it.
Agree
This is something I've commented myself, acquired taste has such diversity in the vocals.

Saw these guys live and they absolutely killed it in every way. So freakin good!
I love the way Castaway Angels flows into this on the album. It's such a magical musical roller-coaster.
Just went to see them live, he sings just as amazing, it's pretty incredible and seems like he does it easily.

That song is soo delicious and dark, absolutely one of my faves
I've seen Leprous twice, and Einar was absolutely pitch-perfect during each set.
Love their nod to Porcupine Tree’s “Arriving Somewhere but Not Here” not just the chords/melody but even the moment where even the vocals “synchronize” reminds me of Steve Wilson’s vocal line. Super cool!
Love PT so much, Gavin is possibly the goat

ua-cam.com/video/RrPcDU7N7Ew/v-deo.html there's a couple versions of this one live, they're all great though
ua-cam.com/video/yY8tiEGgdtg/v-deo.html another great one by Agent Fresco
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll be sure to check them out!
There are a few live recordings of this song now, and I was shocked that a person could pull this off in a single take. Einar really is the real deal!
As a mediocre drummer this time signature is the bane of my existence
That s one of the most easiest among all the songs they have written tho 😅😊
They composed this song on a livestream with the aid of fans to vote on where to take the song.

You should check out On Hold. Einar's talent never ceases to amaze me.

This whole band are amazing musician artist.
Seconding Slave (live at Rockefeller). Mindblowing!

Seconding Slave live at Rockefeller :) Great reaction!
You should do the live version of 'Slave'
I irrationally demand that you put the photos on your wall in frames
this album was really not my favorite but this song was definitely what I was looking for after pitfalls and the congregation. this song is phenomenal
i just wanna know what the vibes in the room are when you're talking to friends over a mega doomer, harrowing song like Nighttime Disguise lol
Do slave from Rockefeller music hall for a good live session :)
Watch Acquired Taste live. Great representation of his vocals 👍
As a longtime Leprous fan, “Slsve” live at Rockefeller Hall is a must. Still hoping for a Jinjer reaction too. 🤞🏻😊
KAREN!
Lerprous - Slave (live at Rockefeller Music Hall)
is rhat "pop metal"??.... rock and roll is dying...
