    FEAR

    Storm of the century

Mirrors ( I want it to actually be scary. Like seeing nothing behind you but it being there waiting for you to fall asleep and it coming out to mess with you. And in the dark the main character thinks he sees something in the mirror but blows it off because in the dark if you look at yourself too long in the mirror your mind creates weird faces. And it goes into that deeply. And sleep paralysis because the mirror is in front of his bed. So when he has sleep paralysis or what he thinks is that he sees her come out of the mirror. )

Lucio Fulci The Beyond & City Of The Living Dead (Aka) Gates Of Hell with more zombies than the original, Gates Of Hell title was a better fit for the film.

YESSS on Lair of the White Worm! And I actually did have the thought that The Mangler, if remade today but took place in the steam and electro-obsessed Victorian Era as sort of an allegory of the excitement and addiction of brand new technology vs. the ignorance of the very real danger of that same new tech could make it very relatable to modern audiences if done right.

It'd be interesting to make a NOES movie where it's not certain whether there is a monster; it might just be a mass hysteria thing. Hell, maybe even have one kid with breathing problems, so when they die in their sleep, it could be because of their condition.

I’m tempted to suggest Ben, despite how the Willard remake worked out. I think Ben and both Willards deliver some of what they promise, but only some. Hard to say whether the answer is to camp it up or to get serious about the emotional lives of the characters. Technically, the rats can be much scarier than in the 70’s movies, but I don’t know if scary rats are enough to carry an entire film anymore. Titanic, in the 1990’s, and, more recently, Stranger Things, might have gotten all the mileage there is to be gotten, with just a few shots of masses of rodents. Yet I can’t help thinking there are some good rat-and-lonely-human movies to be made.

I read a Slenderman novel earlier this month that was published by an ~anonymous source.~ it was basically found footage in book form, with journal entries, police interview transcripts, transcripts of emails and reddit messages, and even some bits of creative writing. I'm not sure how similar it is to Marble Hornets since I haven't watched it yet, but I think a movie like that would be awesome if they figured out how to translate everything to film -- or maybe I'm biased because I enjoy the found footage genre so much💁

One old slasher that I always thought would need a remake is Terror Train! The whodunit element along with the idea that there is no escape on a moving train, has tons of potential and could be creepy as hell!! The one complaint that comes up above all others is the lack of blood, and no great kill scenes. Nowadays violent kills and lots of blood are a welcomed sight, and are used quite liberally(see Evil Dead 2014). I could go on and on but I know your time is limited,so I'll sign off now. Pitch 1: Remake Home Alone as a horror movie but still have Macaulay Culkin in the main role as the victim. You get Kevin MaCallister as a full grown man getting home invaded and he sets traps for the burglars( if you wanted to be really nuts it would be the exact same traps but with realistic consequences ), it plays out exactly the same as the original including old man next door taking out the wet bandits with a shovel.
Pitch 2: Anaconda. Anthropologists studying tribes in the amazon find that 2 remote, barely in contact with civilization tribes/villages have disappeared since their last contact ( say a year or so ). anthro's find giant snake skin at village sites and see snake iconography that wasn't there last visit. Next we send in your standard team of expendable scientists to slowly get picked off by a giant anaconda. They die in an increasingly outrageous fashion from the snake until we have the final showdown with whoever ends up being the main character.

I’d love to see a remakes of
    - The Purge. I know they’re still making them and it’s still too fresh but every one of those movies have such a good idea and then they turn them into action films. Imagine if Fede Alvarez or even Zombie was given that story instead. We could’ve had some of the best and goriest horror films out there.
    - Slender Man is top 3 worst movies I’ve ever seen. They also made it like 10 years too late to even have people interested.
    - Happy Birthday to Me is such a dumb movie that could’ve been cool, I’d love to see a remake of that that’s given to a more psychological writer.
    - Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Not really hard horror but would love to see that made for current audiences.
    - Urban Legend. I hated it & would love to see a better version.
    - Disturbing Behavior. That movie was ass and could’ve been a good horror movie.
    - Stay Alive. The unrated cut is better but I’d love to see it large scale.
    - Boogeyman! I just want it.
    - Hell Fest. I wanted a hard rated R slasher but it was basically a Netflix movie.
That’s all I have for now! I love this video idea. I wish they’d remake movies that were bad & stop remaking ones that were acclaimed so highly and setting themselves up for critical failure. But money speaks sadly :(

Good topic. I'd agree that there are plenty of bad horror movies out there with good ideas that needs proper realization. Some of the ones I can think of are...
The Toybox - The 2018 film is one of the worst movies I've watched over the past decade, but the story of a possessed RV tormenting a family (with miserable consequences) is intriguing.
Cursed - It would've been fun to see Craven's original vision come to life. Surely it would've been better than what we got.
Stay Alive - I liked it, but I can think of several different ways they could've improved it. Especially with the status gaming have today.
Cabin Fever - Already remade, but it was marginally worse than the original. I'm sure there is a way to make a good movie out of the concept, but everything about this franchise have been terrible so far imo.

Cujo!! That movie terrified me as a kid and the novel did just the same.
An example of flipping the script on a Cujo remake could The original film, elude's to Cujo(the saint-bernard) becoming rabid after getting wounded by a rabbit it was chasing into a hole. (the book describes it more as a k9 type-possession/evil and or demonic force curtailed by the rabies "virus." Interestingly and ironically enough, the breed is a "[saint] bernard" in the context of saint's depicted in the religious narrative by the holy roman catholic church.
Flipping it might work well here. So say the mother/son contract the rabies virus while driving on a long road trip seeking help in an isolated town of religious fanatics who's leader, a saint-bernard owner, orders the very large and ferocious beast to keep them confined and guarded within their car as to not spread the virus or release it's demonic force (according to the leader) from infecting anyone else.

There are thousands of novels not being adapted that would probably be great movies! But studios are really bent on making certain there is cash to be had. I would love to see a remake of the 2005 film "A Sound of Thunder," based on the Ray Bradbury short story. The Peter Hyams version had no budget for special effects, so the film looked more like a demo or rough cut. But the premise is terrific - "A single mistake in the past, by a time travel company in the future, has devastating and unforeseen consequences." The 2005 film is certainly watchable, but a newer version could be much better. I would nominate either Brad Anderson or Jonathan Glazer to direct.

47 Meters Down's premise is an overlooked gem! I really think the film has the potential to be as great as Jaws if the film had better writing, endearing characters, and a tighter plot. A perfect example of this is its land counterpart, The Descent. Hence, if done right, a remake would be a godsend!

I'm not sure about a 'remake' necessarily, but with the concept that The Purge has its strange that the films have generally only covered a home invasion and 'escape the city' style subplots. Theres SO much potential that hasn't been untapped yet.
Whilst I love IT: Chapter 1 (haven't seen the miniseries yet) I think an IT limited series by Mike Flanagan would be perfect. He's already proven he can handle dual timelines exceptionally, he's mastered the 'hidden in the background' scares that made It (2017) so chilling, and I feel like he'd be able to tackle the novel's themes in a way which It (Chapter 2) never seemed to get to.
Truth or Dare/Would you Rather/Escape Room are all based on interesting concepts and (with the exception of Truth or Dare) are generally alright. However I feel like there's so much potentional to be genuinely scary/shocking movies, especially consider how tame and passable most of them are.
Krampus! Although I liked it on my first watch, I was actually kinda bored when I rewatched it the other day. The idea of a dark Santa Clause visiting an unwelcoming family is a great idea, but the film never fully goes there. It's a decent family friendly horror/comedy but a full horror Krampus would be super interest. I'm thinking more tension and focus on the practical monsters, such as that toybox... thing, and Krampus himself, would make for a great remake.
Sinister!!!! The first half of this film scared me more than any film (probably) ever. The tapes, the investigtion, the soundtrack, all perfect. The last half was such an annoying let down that I find it hard to rewatch the film past a certain point. I think Scott Derrickson is super talented, so maybe if he were to make a remake (or even a sequel) that cuts out creepy children completely, I might get that truly perfect Sinister movie. With that being said I still love Sinister for how brilliant that first is alone.

Oh my goodness, I have a lot to say on this topic but I'll try to keep it to a few choices. First off, I got actual goosebumps thinking of a Mike Flanagan remake of Needful Things. I saw some correlation in Midnight Mass and I think he would do a fantastic job.
Another work from Stephen King that deserves a remake is Salem's Lot. It is one of my all-time favorites from King and it really deserves a full series. Flanagan could really do it justice.
I also think that someone could make a decent series out of Slenderman, with stories of sightings all over the world or something like that.
One horror classic that I would also love to see a remake for would be Wishmaster. The sequels that came from the first Wishmaster film were just silly - but it's one of my favorites of all time and it would be so much fun to see a modern retelling.
I'd love to see a remake of 30 Days of Night. Loved the graphic novel but the film was really disappointing and we haven't gotten a genuinely terrifying vampire flick in awhile.

I rather see old horror films from the 70's & 80's getting remade, specially Foreign Films (Non USA Films). My picks will be The Beyond (Aka) Seven Doors Of Death from 1981, The Southern Gothic supernatural & zombie film directed by Lucio Fulci & another Fulci film that will like to see remade is City Of The Living Dead (Aka) Gates Of Hell. Perhaps not really a horror film, Battle Royale which is a brutal violent Japanese film from 2000, The film drew controversy, and was banned or excluded from distribution in several countries, i will like Quentin Tarantino to be the director, but he is a fan of The Beyond & won't be surprise if he produce a remake the film, perhaps direct it himself. Horror Express from 1972, starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Telly Savalas...Will like directors like Alexandre Aja, Robert Rodriguez or Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) attach to these films.
