No matter what air fryers bought you must clean after each use. If you don't take care of the next you just bought you will definitely end up with the same issue. Practice clean up after each use good luck 🤞
You have to clean the grease off each time you use it or you will get those stains, and the more you cook with them the harder they are to get off later. Bar Keepers Friend works really well for the tough stains.
Thanks for the info. I will really be careful on the next one I get
I clean my Ninja Foodi after every use, dump the tray, a quick wipe down, job done. I'm careful with lining the tray with foil to make cleanup easier. I love the thing. It doesn't take a ton of counter space. It makes everything I need it to, and it's easy to use. I'm going to go make some pizza bread in the thing right now. Much love. I'm glad I chose it over other models.
I've had a similar issue with the Ninja Air Fryer...no matter if we cleaned or wiped it down once cooled, the stains are there. The grease will leak underneath the cookie sheet making it sticky...the things cook food well but it's the most difficult product to clean.
@PrettyHonestReviews
You're not the only one with this problem. The toaster oven/airfryer small appliances all have the same problem. I have the larger one that flips up, & I clean it, but it never gets as clean as I want it to. I've had a few different brands, same problem.
A suggestion would be to use parchment paper as a liner. Cuts down on cleaning time. There is parchment paper made specifically for use in air fryers.
I've had mine for 1.5 yrs and mine doesn't look like this AT ALL......I use parchment paper and clean the bottom pan and wipe down the door after every use. I LOVE MINE!
That’s what I was thinking😂
The inside of that oven looks like it's been to hell and back ......
and never washed on its way...
somethings done burnt up in there like a fire.
I have one and I love it! The instructions clearly tell you not to use aluminum foil inside of it and to not spray chemicals inside of it so that's probably why you had so many issues. I wipe mine down and hand wash each part after each use and have had no issues.
How do you clean in the inside of it??? exactly.
Like everyone cleans it after each use c’mon
why cant you use Aluminum foil?
@@victorchu964 I read in some instructions of an air fryer before that aluminum scratches those areas. Would not know if that is the only reason.
You can definitely use Aluminum foil , It doesn’t do no harm
You demonstrated exactly why you should read the directions before using it.
😂😂
I have had mine for 3 years and have none of these problems. You should clean after use. If clean it will not leak stuff when you set it up.
Glad you did not have any issues. The stuff leaking out from the back happened once in the very beginning of use. Lessoned learned, did not do it again and started cleaning after each use.
Same I wipe it down after a use and not let get that bad even if I waited a couple of uses. Not had any issues love mine
I thought your channel name was "Petty Honest Reviews" and I was here for it! 🤣
This comment is GOLD! 🤣
You're supposed to open the back and slide out the crumb tray. I saw it on another review.
Did know the back can open
@@judedecamp2522 not all models
My god..mayby you should of cleaned it more often..looks like it wasn't taken care of at all..I wouldn't wanna cook anything in that nasty looking thing
Thanks for your comment, but I did clean it often. As explained in the video with dawn powerwash, dawn dishwashing liquid, oven. I also soaked and used cleaning brush.
Was that necessary?
Nope the tray is VERY hard to clean. SOS pads wouldn’t get it off…
If you only came to criticize go somewhere else. Jerk
I love mine! We have had it at least 2 years now. We use it every day. Make waffles and toast for breakfast. We air fry chicken strips bake pizza, and chicken. It’s awesome! I use aluminum foil in the black baking pan and also on the crumb tray. I have had no issues and mine is still very clean. I do not have to heat up my big oven for pizza and chicken. Starts cooking right away. Best purchase I have ever made. Got it from Kohls. 30% off. And kohl’s cash. I paid $120. They is sell them. $200 regular price. Definitely worth it!
The manual specifically states not to put foil in the ninja. I just bought mine this week. Has the foil ever caused problems??
Thank you, your comment was very helpful. I was watching this video thinking, this looks like operator error. But I appreciate the what not to do video.
Благодарю вас 💯❤️
Can you bake sweet potatoes in this oven?
I just purchased one from my local thrift store for $40 brand new in the box ...thanks for the review
It's good she's using hers wrong, your not suppose to cook with aluminum foil anyway it releases heavy metals in your food.
Simply buy a new sheet pan and have husband clean it immediately after use. If the pan was covered with aluminum foil since day one, it would've stayed clean. Hint: It's easier to keep it clean than trying to get it clean! Same thing for swimming pools!
You warped it by using foil, the foil may cause the drip pan to overheat, warp and get stuck, it says it in the instructions to not use foil because it may overheat and cause a fire.
The bumps she was showing on the tray is polymerized fat. Its what makes a thinly coated cast iron pan slick. But too much fat over time will turn into a bumpy hard mess.
Many years ago when Teenagers ruled my kitchen ..... all my appliances looked like this , LOL !!!
What are you implying
Even if you was using it it would still look like that it’s called manufacturing flaws
HOLY SMOKES !!!
Listen .... when your heating up pure Mercury, then do it in a portable foundry!
These are super fancy ovens that -----> *MUST. BE. CLEANED. AFTER. EACH. USE.*
Got that ???
When buying new pair of underwear. Rational people would wash it after one use. But this video is saying underwear smells really bad after wearing it for 3 weeks straight without washing it after each use. Then gives the underwear thumbs down.
This pretty much sums up this video.
Nothing you wrote has anything to do with the video use your common sense same goes for 10 fools that entertain your comment
Im sure you cooking with your left over grease as we speak
If you paid attention to the video all the young lady was saying is the oven is great but they should had a a better way of cleaning it if you ever own a real oven it’s much bigger so it’s easier to clean plus most modern oven have a self cleaning mode the ninja oven has its flaws it’s a tight space and hard to reach in corners to really clean. So over time grease accumulates so stop acting like you know your ish
“White bread “
we have the ninja foodi double oven. I was cranky with my husband for buying it bc I didn't want it at first. Now i LOVE it. We use it multiple times per day and I haven't used my big oven in months.
We just got ours a couple of weeks ago. I have cleaned it well after every use. Dish soap and water in the sink, Haven't cooked anything really greasy yet (i.e. bacon). One thing I found is that if you flip it up, you can remove the crumb tray and clean it. So far, it all has cleaned up nice but it is a bit of an effort to get food caught in the air fryer basket. No discoloration yet, but I've only had it a couple of weeks. Lol, I'm still learning how to use it.
Read through more reviews. Yikes. As I said, I've put forth effort needed (not a whole lot) and mine is still clean. But if someone can make a mess of an appliance, that's me. We'll see what it looks like in 6 months.
Good to know!
They recommend you buy the brush to clean the air fryer basket
@@sfz5how does it look like now after 9 months if I may ask!? I just bought the thing today, haven't used it yet and it sure seems to demand more upkeep than a standard oven going by the reviews
Only the original model has the flip down underside.
I love this Nina flip oven. Mine is giving me problems. But I had it for about 3 years. I get the err 2- call cuetomer setvice. I am tossing it and buying a new one. They are so handy, especially during summer and does not heat up the house. One of my favorite kitchen appliances!
please promise me that you will never get a smoker... you did a great job explaining all the reasons why you should read the instructions before using. you seemed to have failed at that. so please never purchase a smoker you will more than likely burn your house to the ground, due to user error.
Why does her fryer look like it was in a flood. Exactly how long did you have it dear. Chemical damage huh 😊
I just bought this.... Took a long time to decide what to get because air frying is all so new to me & wasn't sure I wanted one. But this was on sale at Costco & I decided to take a chance.... I've been watching a lot of videos to learn how to use it & what to cook. I decided to avoid cooking anything that will splatter & can cook in a frying pan instead because it does look bothersome to clean! Since there's a 1 yr warrenty & it was fairly inexpensive, I'm not going to worry about it. But I really appreciate all the pros & cons people are sharing!
The instructs clearly say not to use harsh chemicals and to clean after each use.
So how you suppose to clean it with all that grease that get caked up
From cooking all the time
I have such trouble cleaning this thing- it isn’t easy. I would get one that is easier! She is not lying!!!
Looks to me like these air fryers are very high maintenance, I see too many problems, I tried one for one week and returned it while I could knowing that it will end up in a closet next to my slow cooker and george forman grill
I will really be careful on the next one I get
Unfortunately, any toaster oven or countertop oven (at least the ones I have seen) are impossible to clean well after cooking something greasy. They do not have an enameled surface inside like a tradition kitchen oven, so you cannot use oven sprays to clean them. The grease bakes on and sticks to the metal inside permanently discoloring them.
Not if you clean it each time you use it. Use dish soap and a scrubby type sponge. A diluted vinegar spray works well too. Soak or let sit with a vinegar spray and then wash.
Thanks for the useful info all
Thanks for sharing
We purchased the new Ninja Foodie model 651 and take great care to clean thoroughly after each use. With only 2 months of almost daily use it has buildup on the grill only which cannot be removed. Ninja customer service instructed me and on a video call I demonstrated using their method using exactly the cleaning agent etc.. They sent me a new grill section free of charges. After receiving the replacement unit we experimented on the original grill, which looked like the devil had worked it over, using some unapproved cleaners. Still we used no metal scrapers. Bar Keepers Friend for Cookware has given the best results with using a kitchen sponge or a terrycloth rag. The interior of our unit still looks almost new with only the use of Dawn dish liquid and a sponge or terrycloth rag. We are ultra diligent to thoroughly clean all cleaners from the unit before the next use and really love cooking with it almost daily.
Too late, I got one. Ugh, it's new and it's already dirty... and impossible to clean.
This was a great review. You clearly say you tried alternatives because you couldn't get the drip pan out. And the main pan had weird staining before you tried different things to clean it.
Did it say not to cook directly on the pan, and to use parchment paper? If not then the idea is that the pan should hold up to cooking in it.
I hope when you disposed of this no one tried to take it and use it. In my neighborhood I can put out anything and folk will take it. If it has chemical toxicity, in this way, I would put a note on it. Since people throw out good stuff it can be a find to take something someone has thrown out, but in this case no. So hopefully it was deep in the trash when you threw it out! Anyway, the vid is helpful.
I did not purchase the ninga xl. Did major research and watched many video reviews. One from a chef who LOVED IT, the sp101. I purchased the SP101 different digital look. The XL seems to have problems. Also 101 opens in back to clean. Follow enclosed booklet to maintain. Every appliance needs to be maintained or they turn to junk. So far, I really love it and have more counter space to boot. I will not cook greasy foods in mine though. I will be mindful of the issues that can cause any toaster oven or a regular stove oven to be tuff to clean. Every kithen appliance small or large must be maintained to enjoy the cooking experience. I love to cook and love my kitchen stuff. Lol
Worst inner coating
It gets rusty very fast
Very bad for neglect people like me.
Ninja Foodi XL Grill did me wrong as well. Easy to clean, and cooks excellent. 1 day before my 1 year with it the lid stopped working. Stopped working altogether because it would say close lid, so it wouldn't even warm up under any setting. Found a hack to fix it that worked for the next 2 cooks and it did it again. and couldn't fix it. Try getting in contact with customer service before you buy one! Good luck with that. No email support you have to phone them and maybe it was a bad day but after an hour on hold and every 30 seconds being told my call was important I gave up. It was almost $500 so for 1 year and it looked almost brand new I was a bit upset. Beware of Ninja products.
I will really be careful on the next one I get
I’m sure this depends as to what your cooking in there to obviously burgers and meats will smoke alot resulting in a lot of residual carbon and gunk on the inside much faster then if you used it just for nuggies or veggies or bread etc
Facts
Holy moly! That oven needs some love...
This unit is fantastic. Just read the manual before use and you are good to go.
I will really be careful on the next one I get
I came to see how to clean. I have the same one. I have put the wire rack in my self cleaning oven.
Instructions on one of my old air fryers said to avoid spray oils with lecithin because it will cause bake-on residue. Maybe certain bacons contain that? I dunno?
Ooo good point. I tried to use foil to protect it, but guess that didn't do any good. Thanks for watching.
This air flyer looks like it's never been clean inside. What's the deal?
Son of a... yeah we bought one recently. So far we love it but I am very glad I watched your video, it was very helpful, thank you!
yo sis.... so we wash our chicken before cooking but NOT our pans afterwards????
Mine looks the same, very disgusting. 🤢🤮
It get rotten fast. ❌
Bad impression. 👎🏻
Ready for the trashcan.
We love ours you have to clean everytime you use it!!! That looks like never been cleaned!!!
Mine said to put the bacon on the actual basket and put the 13 x 13 pan underneath it so mine came out perfectly well. It also said to spray the basket first. I don’t know. I cleaned the whole thing after ever use just like an oven pan.
I inherited mine and if I hadn't, I would have kicked my own ass for buying it.
learned to hate ours as well. IT IS NOT EASY TO KEEP WHAT I WOULD CALL CLEAN. half arsed clean sure. but not clean. We are ready to toss ours out over this particular problem.
I am so glad I am not the only one with these issue, but at the same time not glad as I really wanted it to work out. They made it sound sooo good and the flip up concept was great.
So your toaster oven is FILTHY. That's all food residue left over from many uses and not cleaning it properly . I've had mine for 3years and it's clean inside and out. No problems, no sticking trays, easy to clean the basket because I clean it after every use. The ONLY fault I found that when you air fry, the drippings go into the heat grid and cause a good deal of smoke. Otherwise this things 100 percent
geez what did you do to this oven it looks like its been damaged by fire, struth have you let ninja people know i think it's ready for the bin
Had mine 8 months now it’s making a very loud noise from the fan😳 and very hard to clean 😏 manufacturer said cut cord and send pictures for replacement. They keep canceling. Have called numerous times and get representative from other countries. $180 is a lot to just throw away under a year use.
ninja wanted me to cut the cord on my fully functioning food processor base when my bowl broke. I was not about to do that. My husband found an old crock pot in the garage that we were going to throw away, and cut the cord to that, put it next to the ninja for the photo 🤣🤣
and I'm glad I did that because the next unit they sent me was smashed!! And I had to wait for ANOTHER. smh
edit to add that my bowl was the only thing that broke. I could still use the blender attachments etc. I would have had no blender for over a month if I waited for them. And I use them daily for my husband's coffee.
Bro where did you get that thing at a mad max garage sale?
Mine just broke just 2 years old . The display started flickering and going crazy I just purchased a new one on the way from Amazon that is a newer model with controls on the bottom I hope it lasts longer than 2 years because I literally use it at least two to three times or more per day
Nice to have a review from someone who is NOT a shill for the product, Thanx for the honest review that is hard to find because of all the freebies these products manufacturers throw at you tubers. There are even some of them same shills in your comment section.
She literally ruined her toaster oven because she didn’t read/follow the owner’s manual... and you are complimenting her, it’s like complimenting someone who lacks common sense 🫢🤭
@@NE0N-PiXEL Go away shill, Your type are bought and paid for.
I have a ninja foodie xl and I mostly use it to air fry…. Best part is it’s easy to clean and I can chuck it in the dish washer if necessary (the trays)…
Hey I like you review. Everything you said it the same reason I got. I have the same problem. Cleaning this little air fryer is a pain. You right after I clean my and try to cook with it again. It start to smoke. From reading everyone else comments. Everyone is right. You need to clean right away. I think that would be another pro to add a pain to clean. Great product but suck a pain to clean.
Thanks for the review. I really wish I saw your video before. Lesson learned.
I wish I watched this before buying mine ! I have these same issues
Honestly, I thought it was just me and how I wasn't caring for it correctly. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy but sorry you are having the same issues.
Ditto. I bought the dual heat model.....like this one but has a top and bottom heating element. Instead of a pan, mine came with a nice teflon coated grill type plate....that is very easy to clean. I loved the fryer until I cooked chicken wings in it. Grease splattered all over the inside and all over the heating elements. The oven is very shallow, so it is hard to get in and clean it very well and there is no way to clean the grease off the heating elements. I cleaned all the grease out of the oven after each use but it would leak grease onto my counter anyway. It leaked whether it was in the flipped up position or not. Only thing I can figure is that somehow grease splatter gets sucked up into the exhaust fan and out the back of the unit. This oven is great if you use it to toast or bake or to cook frozen fries or chicken nuggets and the like. Not so good for cooking anything that splatters grease. The food comes out great, but the mess is horrible. Luckily, I purchased mine on my credit card which doubled my warranty to two years. So I am getting a replacement. I like the Ninja brand, this time I am going to get either the single flex drawer model or the two basket model which are teflon coated and much easier to clean.
@@Krgw2023that’s what I was thinking. It would be a nightmare with greasy oily foods
I appreciate the review. Umm... that being said... Im not gonna knock Ninji because I own a Ninja Foodi. You basically gotta keep up with the cleaning on it and can't/shouldn't spray chemicals in there. Again, thank you for the detailed review. ❤
I had the same one for 3 years i hardly used it only for pizza and potatoes and fish no greasy food and now it says code error 2 and it has discolored from the out side and its clean from the inside because I barely used it
Definitely a learning experience
you may want to read manuf specs and instructions before you use either, do not spray chemicals in something that says do not spray chemicals, an oven has an enamel finish, much different from the ninja, read instructions first and always
Lesson learned for sure
Get a brillo pad and clean those pans and device and this review would be totally different. I have a similar ninja and was reading reviews to upgrade to this one and have had the same problems with the pan. Brillo pad did the trick.
The thing is its incredibly hard to clean. Just the basket and drip pan take 20 mins to scrub after each use. ( Chicken wings, bacon ). And its hard to clean the sides because its already baked on by the time the food is done. What do you all use to get the meat grease off that is baked on after one dinner?
Yessss so hard to clean. I was using dawn power wash, dawn dishwashing liquid, and a dish brush. Before washing I let it soak.
Why is your air frier dirty?
Had mine for over year now. Haven't had problems like this. Don't use foil in oven. Have done chicken wings with no problem. After it cools down take drip tray out before you flip and if this is same one I have (look like it) once you flip it then open the bottom of the unit and then it's very easy to clean.
thank you for the honest review, I think you just saved me some money.
Mine works, but makes a weird noise that customer service says is normal.
Oven looks like that pit of 🔥 💨
Thanks for sharing!🥰
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching. 😊
I think you thought the frier would come with a person on the side to clean every time you cook. Next time, read the manual instruction.
If I was to demonstrate or review an appliance after using it, I would've cleaned it first!
Ninjas digital care video said to USE aluminum foil or parchment on
the bottom of the black sheet to make for easy cleaning.
I bought a used one and had to spray it with Zep Air fryer cleaner and let it sit. Then after scrubbing it, abd letting it drain, i sprayed with water and vinegar to get the cleaner out. It was a lot of work. And cleaning it every time is a pain. I wish Ninja kept the flip down underside on All of the models.
Thanks for being honest a lot people here attacking the young lady about being honesty when they probably cooking with their left over grease
Wow do ever clean it ? Did you even read the instructions before using it? You’re not supposed to use any of those things for cleaning it and a brush takes care of the basket just fine the instructions said not to use aluminum foil because it makes it too hot. That’s probably why your tray looks so funky.
One time I used EZ off n it ruins the nonstick coating of my toaster oven. I was super sad that I did not spot test the chemical before spraying all over. Luckily, it's still usable. So after that, I know that EZ off is only for those glass/ enamel paint stove top.
Thank you for this info!!
You said you cooked bacon with foil . The instructions said not to use foil in the air fryer
I think you used it well and should not use very greasy meats etc. Its a different machine than conventional oven.
So……you shouldn’t buy this unit because your sloppy…is that the takeaway here? So which model self cleans your splattering foods? This is tedious watching this stuff!
She didn't read the directions and didn't clean after use or she used harshed methods of cleaning
Nope we LOVE this oven
Yeah it’s a great oven but like she point it’s not the best when it comes to cleaning
Appreciate this honest review.
I have one of the small ninja airfryers with the deep basket.
Easier to clean, just throw a 1/8 cup of dawn in some hot faucet water into the deep basket and turn on for 5 minutes.
Easy dump & wipe out.
Unfortunately, it only takes 1 steak or 1/2 package of bacon , 8 chicken wings a time.
I’m single it fine.
And the unit is much cheaper.
Damn home girl abused that air fryer 😂
That girl did some serious home cookin' but forgot to do a little house keeping! 😳😳😳
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She treated it like a standard oven and didn’t read the instructions
The best way to get more views on a product that everyone loves is to just do the complete opposite of what the manual instructions tell you to do😂
That oven never seen the sink once
You need to leant your racks frequently. Use oven cleaner
Well, I don’t have to say too much because it looks like a lot of people are coming after you. And let me tell you I’ve had mine for three years and I love it. I’m looking to get another one. And lady what did you do? Use it for a whole year and then said wait a minute, do I have to clean this because that’s literally disgusting that shows you haven’t cleaned that since you bought it.
You do know the back of that will flop down, so it opens up to inside the oven when it’s flipped up.
Unless the cleaning habits change the new machine will look just like this one and you will have similar issues.
Hope you read the instructions on the new one!
You didn’t clean it. Mine never got that bad.
Hate this air fryer...not a fan at all
Lol it looks like you've never cleaned the inside.
😳😳😳
I would avoid opening that oven in order to prevent a Chernobyl situation in your neighborhood!
Just... Clean it when you're done using it? 🤣
First off, you're really cute. Cuteness aside, lol, i was interested in this appliance until I found a similar one, (Beautiful Infrared Air Fry Toaster Oven by Drew Barrymore) which i found brand new on clearance in wally-world for $33. I'm a truck driver and I'm trying to start cooking more of my own meals. Thanks for the heads up on what to look out for.
I got one 3 years ago the best. Also I might add looks like you didn’t clean for a while maybe that’s what happened??
After reading these comments you will know what to do!😂
Yeah throw it out
Is this the first model? Mine looks different.
Dude no chemicals
What Air Fryer do you recommend?
Damn what happened to the inside? I love mine
We had all the same issues.... within about 3 mo. of regular use and then it just stopped working all together. It overheated and burned up. All that money in the trash!
