    What has the driver got to do before orientation that causes them to not get a truck when they get there. I thought the company did everything and made sure you had your shit together before they brought you up there. If they let you come up there without everything being done then they wasted the drivers time you think?

    If Nova Lines charges the shipper to tarp, how much of that is passed along to you?

      The question here is how often does he go home? Because nova lines charge you for the truck weekly meaning in order to make money the wheels must be turning. If you’re not rolling you’re not making money. Example at nova lines if you go home for 3 days and come back you’re short 3 days you could have ran and made money. In order to survive out here you have to put your time in. There’s no trucking job company or LP that pays you tons of money with you working hard to get it. Not to say this guy doesn’t work hard but there’s no way you make $300 a week and went to work everyday that week or had some type of breakdown. There’s also the chance you’re pulling loads that a extra load far as the rate and you’re not thinking about your overhead. Needless to say something about a $300 check as LP just doesn’t make sense. Either the driver went home, the truck broke down, or the driver don’t wasn’t feeling up to driving. He’s still at nova lines so apparently he knows what caused the low check and intends to see that it doesn’t happen again. Tips for LP drivers, do not come out in super debt and wanting to go home every week. Not going to make any money that way. Don’t come out without having a Good work ethic! Not going to make any money that way. Don’t not come out if you don’t know how to respect talk for yourself in this industry cause companies in LP offer you loads they can’t make you take them. Learn your lanes in trucking and what states you earn well in. Nothing in this life is free…. Not even free-dom Only Jesus is free but people now days don’t care to know him much less trust in him. My advice is that you should, but most won’t…. They trust in the government and there money. So my advice, buckle up it’s all counter clockwise and straight down from here.

      Maybe if you guys would do what he said at the beginning and save your money instead of blowing it all you could afford to go home for a few days and still make it.

    How much are you paid to tarp, do you get 100%? What percent of fuel surcharge do you receive from Nova, do you get 100% of that?

    • @irondirtanddiesel
      @irondirtanddiesel  7 місяців тому +1

      The fuel is discounted 40 cents at loves and pilot, the full fuel expense comes out of your settlement at end of week. I get 80 percent of Grose earned by truck.

      Some shippers pay for tarping. I charge them everytime if I've been there 2 hours or more. Which happens at pickups alot but unloading has been fast

      No, I secured a job as a industrial technician in my home town, which is what I'm actually certified to do, at the time I left my old tech job there was no openings so I went back to trucking, as I still had a cdl. But no I turned my truck in about 3 weeks now.

    If you own your own trucking company, why are you leasing a truck and taking orders from someone else?

    I knew the 7k+ advertised was a trap. You can work local and make more money than 1400 per week take home.. Stay safe.

    • @dustinoneal3861
      @dustinoneal3861 4 місяці тому +2

      So not sure where you do you learned to math but on a 7k gross week after fixed cost and going extreme with fuel and spending 1600 dollars you still net 2k put some back for taxes and boom do that 3 times a month you’re at 6k. And if you keep receipts and write off stuff during taxes you keep more money than you pay in. Learn to truck or stay home

      My experience with Nova was good and bad, in the sense that it started out great, but it was like a series of unfortunate events. Averaged about 8k gross but due to fuel prices and the operation cost it wasn't adding up 750 a week for truck 350 for Trailer 50 for equipment then ifta/Hud maintenance account 300 with a fixed cost of 5k weekly there really was no room for profit for me Average 3k miles a week and 1300 fuel expenses then tolls etc there's really no meat left on the bone when it comes down to the settlement. Then cost of groceries etc I was damn near living on credits cards at one point. Then the No fuel surcharge and separation of permits from the gross I felt that they were too far into my pocket as well as it taking at times 2hrs+ to get the rate con. Was it all bad.. in the beginning, no, it was the honeymoon stage, but there were weeks when I was in the whole and me monitoring everything it just wasn't worth it. Knowing what I know now, I would have came in with my own truck. Cause those nova warranties don't hold up and if you read the contract it states that.. but yeah good to see you moved on.
