Thank you for doing this wonderful tribute to Mandisa! What a beautiful woman and a beautiful spirit! As a plus sized black woman myself, her struggle with depression and being overweight hits home. I love that she eventually persevered beyond the criticism and lead a positive life. At the end of the day, she was still human and so that means we are not in this world without continuous trials and tribulations. There’s only so much we can take sometimes. I believe she wholeheartedly did the very best she could to be a great human being. I wish we had more people in the world like this. I never heard anything bad about her. May her memory live on in those who truly loved and appreciated her. She was the ultimate OVERCOMER. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😢❤💐

I agree 100% . Every time you go for your annual dr.s visit, they get you in a small little room, look at their computer ,then ask, "Are you depressed?! Seriously, most depressed people aren't going to be truthful ,they are ashamed and don't want medicine controlling their minds. Or be titled . At least she was open about her struggles.

@@tammybuscher5310 I agree with you. Many people feel ashamed about having to take medicine for depression and anxiety. I have seen and heard pastors shame people that are having mentally struggles and are in despair discourage them from seeking doctors. Many times you can pray, fast, have a group of people praying for you, fasting, read the Bible, etc. But you need medicine to treat the chemical imbalance in your brain in order to overcome the anxiety and depression. It is like is someone has diabetes, they have to check their blood sugars, Dr may increase or decrease the insulin based on their blood sugars. She was a wonderful woman of God.❤

After I had a stroke and sometimes I would be working on a machine to strengthen my arms and legs is when I listened to Overcomer all the time. I started out after my stroke in a wheelchair and had to go to physical therapy to be able to walk again. I recovered from my stroke and a few years later I had cancer and went through chemo. One of the songs I listened to a lot was Overcomer. I needed the encouragement to keep going and not give up hope that I was going to survive. My attitude was that by the grace of God that I was going to survive cancer. After my 1st round of chemo I had sepsis, so I was taken off all chemo and got 1 IV every 4 hours for 2 weeks. I survived my sepsis and then went back to getting chemo. I had 5 more rounds of chemo to go. I had 20 more sessions of chemo to go through. I’m still alive by the grace of God. I really should have died. But praise God I’m still alive.

    **LET'S GET REAL HERE**
    Shall we??
When someone says they are struggling...pay attention! When they say...I am tired and I don't want to live... pay attention...when someone says, I need help, I just need a friend... PAY ATTENTION... CARE!!!! When they go dark...pay attention... When they don't want to do anything... be around others... go out, go to church, get out of bed... shower...eat....
PAY ATTENTION!!!! If they eat alot... don't eat...sleep alot... don't sleep.... take drugs... drink Alcohol.... PAY ATTENTION!!!! When they isolate.... pretend to be OK.... deny.... won't talk..... PAY ATTENTION!!
DONT DISMISS... watch what you say.... be a light in someone's dark!! Words matter! Caring matters!
    Where are you "Christians"?
We say all these "pretty things" once someone is GONE!!
WHAT ABOUT SPEAKING LIFE INTO PEOPLE WHILE THEY ARE HERE???
If Mandisa took her own life.... I know she had her village who cared.... but what about the lesser known out there? Apart of me went with her.... because I KNOW FIRST HAND what it feels like to feel so done.... SO ALONE...AND SO DOES MY HUSBAND! AND MANY OTHERS CLOSE TO ME...
God... please.... help us ALL TO DO SO MUCH BETTER!!.... and God, please help me to continue to keep going myself when I don't want to alot of the time as I fight against the undercurrent of cruel humans out there!
I care.... and I want to continue to DO... and be better...
    I challenge you as well...

This is extremely sad. So beautiful, so talented, so kind. How can someone with so much good can’t live in this world? Depression is real, depression can kill. Besides all the sadness and pain she knew this earth was not her home, she knew there’s a place where there’s no more tears, no more pain and I’m so glad she kept her faith in her savior and now she’s rejoicing, No more tears, No more pain. Just Love and Joy.

@@Palmetto-J even if she did, no one can really say what her journey is after this life. The reason she blessed so many through her music is because she let God use her life in the way He saw fit, not her and not us. Even in her death - she will still touch so many lives.
