I hate how the industry treated her. I was 14 when she did that at the VMAs and I almost cried because of how Twitter and the media treated her after. She was my fave female rapper at the time, all the other girl felt to sexual for me and lil mama was perfect for me at that age. I felt seen listening to her. Funny how the media uses the same argument to say female rappers are TOO sexual, but lil mama was TOO childish back then

She was headstrong, but she was a kid when she came into the spotlight. She lost her mother to cancer 6 months after her breakout single, and she was only 18 by the time she crashed the VMA performance. But instead of offering her some guidance, all these grown people just insulted, talked down to and dogpiled on her. I always hated that, and it's one of the reasons I will never respect Charlamagne.

I have never heard of Lil Mama before watching this content on UA-cam.
I am in my fifties and am from the UK.
Objectively I can tell you that the artist Lil Mama was attacked throughout her career not for her impulsive actions but because she didn't behave the way the other industry plants - disguised as artists - behave!
She clearly had a behavioural line that she was not prepared to cross not for love nor money!
Unlike those industry plants who sell their soul for fame and fortune Lil Mama clearly refused to do likewise.
She has way too much dignity, integrity and class to compromise her grounded principles.
She seems GOD fearing to a degree and consciously makes the effort to behave within GOD'S set parameters for us human beings here on earth.
She didn't want to be one of thousands of other compromised artists by partaking in leading the young and vulnerable followers astray with her lyrics or sexualised behaviour and for that she was frequently black balled and ridiculed!
Thank GOD that she had a good role model in her mother before she died (R.I.P.) because her behaviour throughout the majority of her career was impeccable!

They have every right to feel offended because she came on set while they were performing, but they could have told her that behind the scenes instead of trashing her publicly. I love her pivot into softness. Her resiliency is commendable. Say what you want but she had the valor to be herself and the foresight to fall back and come out a swan. People love to harp on mistakes but sharing your art w the world as it is attacking you shows real character.
Also, there so much rhetoric about "women rappers need to rap about more then s*x" Yet LM did just that and was vehemently rejected. And to think so many powerful black men allowed her to be publicly disrespcted (by white men nonetheless) and even were the perpetrators.
We all deserve grace. I'm glad she didn't go disappear obscurity

I love Lil Mama. It upset me so bad how they mistreated her. She's genuine and beautiful. Shame on them for treating her like that. That baby been through a lot. She needed someone to take her under their wings. She was a kid😢

That Kiss 104.7 interview was absolutely deplorable. There are plenty of times where a celebrity does not want to address a certain topic, and they have that right. The cast of that show was rude, unprofessional, and ignorant. The 'she was raised differently' comment was completely out of line. I thought you was doing too much with the trigger warning at the beginning but nah you was right 😂 I got triggered immediately. yes she was blunt, but they need to be able to handle that better as interviewers.

She was always at the wrong place at the wrong time. She needed to keep her mouth shut and stop trying to be “relatable”. I wish she just became an actress and left music alone.

They was so disrespectful to this girl like omg she was so beautiful and humble she just needed the right management team for her that’s all. But I met her in person when I was in the 5th grade she was so sweet she brought all the kids including me lollipops from the story so I always been okay with her. Something’s she said was not ok but she was young and she was young and still learning but she didn’t deserve the constant disrespect. She is strong and she deserves her flowers ppl need to leave her alone ❤
