Great install. I just did a carplay install on my 2017 LX570 recently but got a $280 kit off of amazon, ended up working great. But I do like the Grom Vline2 as well on your setup. Nice work on keeping the install clean!

@@engineerandmachine yup. Posted a video on my channel. I really miss having a touchscreen like on yours. On my old 2009 Lx570 I did the large Tesla style screen head unit and it was good. On this 2017 the Lexus joystick control drives me nuts. Other than the silly Lexus joystick the CarPlay retrofit is working great so far.
@NKPGarage I'm with you on the joystick mouse thingo. My Ct200h has it and I find it dinky and annoying. My kids can't get enough of it though.
@@engineerandmachine I have been looking at wiring skematics to see if I can replace the joystick with one of the Lexus mouse pad units. I think that would be much more functional. Not sure if it would work or not but would be neat
I am the Australian agent for Grom I keep and support them right here. I will have sold my 500th soon! You may want to mention it doesnt boot up like that every time you turn it on. Does it?
Hi I didn't know there was an Australian agent! I have made a couple of follow up videos and one where I show the boot up. What about original lexus amplifier and audiosystem? Is it affected or is everything stays the same?

It all works just like before I installed. Including the factory GPS and Bluetooth system. Sound is still spectacular as it uses all the factory components.

Does apple carplay work ?
I'm sorry I don't have apple so I couldn't test it yet. If I get the chance to try with a friends phone I will let you know

Yes. It's great especially when combined with a sim card modem. I still haven't tried Android Auto properly with it yet. One thing they could improve is providing a higher current USB port
@@engineerandmachine Thanks for the update! Were there any cable connections that weren't used when you installed?
From what I remember now of the install I used all of the cable connections and the wires were plenty of additional length making it pretty easy to install.
