Oof... There was something wrong with her acting, but I think this comment perfectly summarises it. She doesn't show much emotion unless she's screaming.
No technically accurate. Firstly kyoshi did possess aang in the show to confess to a murder. Secondly, she didn't fulfill his purpose in the show. He was the one that informed aang he needed to master the 4 elements and defeat the fire lord before summers end.
It could be because Avatar Roku does tell Aang that same phrase "I'll show you what that power can do" and shows up to help them escape the volcano. Also Avatar Kyoshi does show up in an episode. She tells her part of the story about Kyoshi Island and how Chin the Conqueror dies during the split.
Yes, although I was looking forward to seeing Roku destroying the temple and beating up the firebenders. That episode is one of my favorites of the series. But I must admit that Kyoshi was amazing, the change turned out very well.
In Nickelodeon Aang has been possessed by 2 previous Avatar, Roku and Kiyoshi. Roku while Fighting the Fire Nation Troop ambushed. And Kiyoshi for Clarify her justice. So there is huge different. But i think Netflix made wise decision by chance that into Kiyoshi. It’s because Kiyoshi's character is more like a soldier, strict and fearsome compare to Roku.
@alifhamzah3077 but Roku has a much more important role in the story than Kyoshi does. Roku is responsible for the genocide of Aang's people, for the wars waged to expand their kingdom. Roku knew what his friend was turning into and he turned a blind eye to it because they were life long friends. Roku feels this responsibly and deep guilt and it's one of the driving forces for him to encourage Aang to stop the fire nation. Replacing his prominent role in season 1 with Kyoshi misses the themes of how the mistakes of the past generation fall onto the new, which is a core theme in the Avatar cycle. It feels keep and kind of weird to make that change and just screams that these writers don't actually understand the source material and just thought people would lose their minds over seeing Kyoshi on screen, which is what happened
🍽THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God is saving man from the imminent destruction of this old world" (God's work of governance began with the creation of the world, and man is at the center of this work. It can be said that God's creation of all things is for the sake of man. Then, God handed mankind over to Satan, and man lived under Satan's dominion, which gradually led to God's work in the first age: The story of the Age of Law .... For several thousand years in the Age of Law, mankind had become accustomed to the guidance of the Age of Law and did not appreciate it. Little by little, man left God's care. So, while obeying the law, they also worshiped idols and did bad things. As always happens, after Jehovah's work in the Age of Law, God begins His new work of the second stage: having a body--incarnating as a human being for ten or twenty years--and speaking and doing His work inamong the believers. But there was no exception, no one knew about it, and only a few people recognized that He was God incarnate after the Lord Jesus was crucified and resurrected. ... When the second stage of God's work was completed--after the crucifixion--God's work of redeeming man from sin (ie, redeeming man from the hands of Satan) was accomplished. In other words, man's sins are no longer an obstacle to him achieving salvation and facing God, and no longer a basis for Satan's accusation against man. In this way, man came down from the cross, and was redeemed and saved through God's flesh--the likeness of his sinful flesh. That is why, after being captured by Satan, man is one step closer to receiving His salvation before God. Step by step, God takes man back from the hands of Satan, until man completely worships God and rejects Satan. The purpose of God's love is to obtain a group of people who worship God and submit to Him. They know what is ugly and how it differs from the holy, and they recognize the greatness of God and the evil of Satan. A humanity like this will no longer work for Satan, or worship Satan, or idolize Satan. This is because they are a group of people that God has truly achieved. 🙏) Almighty God said God's work of governance began with the creation of the world, and man is at the center of this work. It can be said that God's creation of all things is for the benefit of man. BECAUSE the WORK of His GOVERNMENT LASTS THOUSANDS of YEARS and is NOT DONE in MINUTES or SECONDS, or in the blink of an eye, or a YEAR or TWO, He has to CREATE other THINGS NECESSARY to LIVE humanity, LIKE the SUN, MOON, all KINDS of CREATIONS with LIFE, FOOD, and an interesting ENVIRONMENT. This is the beginning of God's rule.☀️ 🙏 Then, GOD HANDED HUMANITY to SATAN, and MAN LIVED UNDER SATAN'S COVERAGE, GRADUALLY LEADING to GOD'S WORK in the FIRST AGE: The STORY of the AGE OF LAW.... For several thousand years in the Age of Law, mankind had become accustomed to the guidance of the Age of Law and did not appreciate it. Little by little, man left God's care. So, while obeying the law, they also worshiped gods--gods and did bad things. They had no protection from Jehovah, and lived only in front of the altar in the temple. In fact, the work of God had long since left them, and even though the Israelites still followed the law, and they called on the name of Jehovah, and even proudly believed that they were the only people of Jehovah and the chosen ones of Jehovah, the glory of God isleave them quietly... ☀️ When God does His work, He always quietly leaves one place and gently carries out the new work He begins in another place. It seemed unbelievable to the people, who became numb. People have always valued the old and hated and loathed the new and unfamiliar. Therefore, whatever new work God does, from beginning to end, man is the last, of all things, to know it. 😪 As always happens, after Jehovah's work in the Age of Law, God begins His new work of the second stage: the existence of the body---the flesh--man as a man for ten or twenty years--- -and speaking and doing Hiswork among believers. But there was no exception, no one knew about it, and only a few people recognized that He was God incarnate after the Lord Jesus was crucified and resurrected. ... When the SECOND PHASE of GOD'S WORK was COMPLETED---after the CRUCIFIXION---GOD'S WORK of RECOVERING man from SIN (ie, to recover man from Satan's hands) WAS FULFILLED. ☀️ That is why, from that moment, humanity only needs to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior, and his sins will be forgiven. In other words, MAN'S SINS are NO LONGER an OBSTACLE to ACHIEVING SALVATION and FACE to GOD, and NOT a basis for SATAN'S ACCUSATION of MAN. That's BECAUSE GOD Himself has DONE the REAL WORK, become the IMAGE and TASTE of SINFUL FLESH, and GOD Himself became the OFFERING for SIN. In this way, MAN CAME DOWN from the CROSS, and was REDEEMED and SAVED THROUGH the FLESH of GOD---the IMAGE of this SINFUL FLESH. That's why, AFTER SATAN'S CAPTIVITY, man was ONE STEP CLOSER to ACCEPTING His SALVATION before GOD. 🙏 Of course, this phase of work is more advanced than God's rule during the Age of Law.☀️ Such is the RULE of GOD: To HAND mankind over to SATAN--a BEING who does NOT KNOW what GOD is, WHAT He CREATED, HOW to WORSHIP GOD, or WHY to SUBMIT to GOD--and ALLOW SATAN to MAKE him CORRUPT 🛑 STEP by STEP, GOD RECOVERS people from SATAN'S HANDS, until PEOPLE COMPLETELY WORSHIP GOD and REJECT SATAN. This is the GOVERNMENT of GOD. It may sound like a fictional story, and it may seem confusing. PEOPLE FEEL like it's a fictional STORY--because they have NO CONSCIOUSNESS--CONSCIOUS of HOW much HAPPENED to HUMANS in the LAST SEVERAL THOUSANDS--YEARS, especially they DON'T KNOW how many STORIES HAPPENED in SPACE and in HEAVEN. 🛑🙏 And besides, that's not because they can't appreciate the more wonderful and more terrifying world that exists beyond the material world, but their mortal eyes prevent them from seeing it. It seems to be difficult for people to understand because people do not understand the significance of God's saving mankind or the significance of the work of His government, and do not understand what God wants humanity to be in the end. 🙏 Is it that it cannot be completely corrupted by Satan, like Adam and Eve? No? The PURPOSE of GOD'S GOVERNMENT is to GET a GROUP of PEOPLE WORSHIPING GOD and SUBJECTING to Him. 💐 ALTHOUGH SATAN has CORRUPTED these PEOPLE, they NO LONGER CONSIDER SATAN as their FATHER; They RECOGNIZE SATAN'S DISGUSTING FACE and REJECT it, and they COME BEFORE GOD to ACCEPT His JUDGMENT and PUNISHMENT. 🌷🙏🌹 They KNOW WHAT is UGLY and HOW it DIFFERS FROM the HOLY, and they RECOGNIZE the GREATNESS of GOD and the EVILNESS of SATAN. A humanity LIKE this will NEVER WORK for SATAN, or WORSHIP SATAN, or idolize SATAN. This is BECAUSE they are a GROUP of PEOPLE who have REALLY ACHIEVED GOD. This is the SIGNIFICANCE of GOD'S GOVERNMENT WORK on humanity.🙏 From "The Word Appears in the Flesh" Fulfillment of (John 1:1), (Ezekiel 2:9-10) and (Rev. 19:9,13) 📥Calling and leading everyone to His lowered Kingdom or Church because it is still standing on earth in the holy place in the air/ youtube "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD 💐 this is the fulfillment of what He said to Peter 2,000 years ago, recorded in (Matthew 16:18'19). Avatar Kyoshi lived to 230 years of age. She’s the longest living Avatar in History and she has humble beginnings. She was the greatest Avatar that ever lived. She was a Demi Goddess
Love the scene. I can only assume Kyoshi kept her fight so…peaceful, out of respect to Aang, because she could have DESTROYED everyone there without breaking a sweat.
I grew up watching the cartoon. This show made me revisit the cartoon. It’s not 100% to the story but damn it, it’s pretty close. And I’m not complaining. I love the Netflix show.
i'm glad everyone here is enjoying Kyoshi's scenes cause on instagram everyone is complaining arguing she shouldnt have replaced Roku but i think we've had enough Roku on the cartoon. I simply loved they did that. Kyoshi is by far the most badass avatar. Even tho Korra has similar personality, she didnt grow on me like Kyoshi did. No need to say i'd love a kyoshi spin-off.
my complaint with her is that they decided to make her more ruthless than she was, basically taking the fandom version of her and not the story and comic verse. she was indeed ruthless, but only when it was needed. i like the fight scene tho.
fiercest one would be yangchen tho, kyoshi isn't as cruel as people think, she only kills as a last resort, I don't know who in the fandom started this idea that she's violence incarnate but it's not necessarily true, her first murder was something that worked on her for a very long time and by reading the novels we discover that she even has trouble with the idea of killing, not as much as aang of course but I'd say as much as any normal person
@npathan4271 well the kids had their cartoon, why would I want to see the same kiddy version for live action ? what's the point ?? I hope they don't water down the blood bending part
Honeslty a fully trained Avatar is hands down just on a different level. Even the most powerful benders can't really do anything when faced with that level of power.
Yeah. And while Avatars are still somewhat susceptible to sneak attacks and rare bending abilities (e.g. Combustionbending), they're otherwise able to solo entire armies.
One of the best scenes I've seen so far, this and Zuko saving Aang from the prison. I'm 6 episodes in and man this series is way, WAY better than I expected. Doesn't even feel like it was made by Netflix tbh, it's seriously a really good retelling of the OG cartoon.
It was awesome! It was an incredible scene. Imagine taking care of a legacy that you only heard stories about for generations and witnessing a sample of the greatness of that same legacy that you once protected but... this time it is protecting you.
This may seem like a minor detail, but the contrast between Kyoshi's pupil and the white of her eyes gave her such a threatening demeanor and sense of power. Typically, it's either too bright or not bright enough. Loved it.
I can understand when some people would have wanted an adaptation that is following the original closer, but not only would we have never gotten this great scene then, I consider it also much more important that they depict the characters properly. And they did a hell of a job with Kyoshi.
@@אילוןאור-ע8מ We basically got the same scene in the original, just with Roku. Was this also a problem, because Roku "solving Aangs problems for him" prevented character growth? There are always some people who are willing to bend over backwards to furfill their bias.
I don't think anybody expected it to compare. AtLA is among the best animated shows ever. All people hoped for was a good show, and I think they delivered on that. Some changes they made were not so good, but some were really awesome too. As long as it adds to the universe (Zuko's soldiers and more Iroh interactions), I'm happy with the show.
If you ever want an example of the word delusional, it’s the fact that Zuko can think he can take on avatar Kiyoshi alone even with his men even with the whole entire nation-
Love the new live action series. It’s obvious that a lot of care and budget is being put into it. This scene with Kyoshi was awesome! Great job Netflix!
Avatar Kyoshi is just wow... amazing! She saved Katara and the whole village despite of Aang's hesitation. She may be merciless to the bad guys, but she has a reason for it, and she's effective, even I'm intimidated by her here, more so than the cartoon one. She's strict and doesn't tolerate nonsense. I guess as an avatar, sometimes you just need to get the job done and care less about whether people like you or not, in the end of the day, it's better than being afraid of hurting others.
I like how she incorporates fire and earth into that tornado despite it not actually achieving anything. Arguably the water was unnecessary too. Just pure showing off.
I think the water just made them easier to gather up into the tornado, she scalded them when adding fire with water, and the earth was just there because she’s kyoshi (might’ve cut some people up tho)
When she landed my gf's like oh my god she has the look of death. Im laughing my ass off like bro, she's about to f*** you up😂😂😂 Tame for Kyoshi but a good demonstration. She aint playin
The scary part about Kyoshi is that she doesn't have any no-kill codes. She is the kind of Avatar who would smash your head on the rocks if she thought you were a threat. She would have gleefully slaughtered Ozai's entire family as an example had she lived to the time of the original show, and if she was the Avatar during Korra's time, there would be no Equalists, no Dark Avatar, no Red Lotus, and the would-be rulers of the Earth Empire would likely anoint her as their Empress.
.. did yall forget she killed as a last resort? she literally stated that herself.. in that one episode as well, when aang almost died over hsi crimes. she doesnt feel remorse over it, but killing was literally her last resort.. she tried all the peaceful options first..
Kyoshi always in the mood to "I don't know what god you pray to, but you better get starting".

You can say alot about Zaheer, but he is pretty much just an Iroh gone rogue; very knowledgable and wise.

Instead of possessed by Avatar Roku, Avatar Kyoshi Replaced his Role.
YESSSS... YESSS... BATH IN THEIR BLOOD!!!!
Everyone in fear and shock of seeing Avatar Kyoshi and Suki is just like "This is awesome! Keep it going"
Suki is life.
Easily the most badass scene in the first season. Gives me hope that the final battle for the finale of season 3 will be amazing.
When Avatar Kyoshi landed, all the fire went out

🍽THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God is saving man from the imminent destruction of this old world"
(God's work of governance began with the creation of the world, and man is at the center of this work. 🙏)
Almighty God said
God's work of governance began with the creation of the world, and man is at the center of this work. This is the beginning of God's rule.☀️ 🙏
Then, GOD HANDED HUMANITY to SATAN, and MAN LIVED UNDER SATAN'S COVERAGE, GRADUALLY LEADING to GOD'S WORK in the FIRST AGE: The STORY of the AGE OF LAW.... ☀️
When God does His work, He always quietly leaves one place and gently carries out the new work He begins in another place. It seemed unbelievable to the people, who became numb. People have always valued the old and hated and loathed the new and unfamiliar. Therefore, whatever new work God does, from beginning to end, man is the last, of all things, to know it. 😪
As always happens, after Jehovah's work in the Age of Law, God begins His new work of the second stage: the existence of the body---the flesh--man as a man for ten or twenty years--- -and speaking and doing Hiswork among believers.
That is why, from that moment, humanity only needs to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior, and his sins will be forgiven. 🙏
Of course, this phase of work is more advanced than God's rule during the Age of Law.☀️
Such is the RULE of GOD: To HAND mankind over to SATAN--a BEING who does NOT KNOW what GOD is, WHAT He CREATED, HOW to WORSHIP GOD, or WHY to SUBMIT to GOD--and ALLOW SATAN to MAKE him CORRUPT 🛑
STEP by STEP, GOD RECOVERS people from SATAN'S HANDS, until PEOPLE COMPLETELY WORSHIP GOD and REJECT SATAN. 🛑🙏
And besides, that's not because they can't appreciate the more wonderful and more terrifying world that exists beyond the material world, but their mortal eyes prevent them from seeing it. It seems to be difficult for people to understand because people do not understand the significance of God's saving mankind or the significance of the work of His government, and do not understand what God wants humanity to be in the end. 🙏
Is it that it cannot be completely corrupted by Satan, like Adam and Eve? No? The PURPOSE of GOD'S GOVERNMENT is to GET a GROUP of PEOPLE WORSHIPING GOD and SUBJECTING to Him. 💐
ALTHOUGH SATAN has CORRUPTED these PEOPLE, they NO LONGER CONSIDER SATAN as their FATHER; They RECOGNIZE SATAN'S DISGUSTING FACE and REJECT it, and they COME BEFORE GOD to ACCEPT His JUDGMENT and PUNISHMENT. 🌷🙏🌹
They KNOW WHAT is UGLY and HOW it DIFFERS FROM the HOLY, and they RECOGNIZE the GREATNESS of GOD and the EVILNESS of SATAN. A humanity LIKE this will NEVER WORK for SATAN, or WORSHIP SATAN, or idolize SATAN. This is BECAUSE they are a GROUP of PEOPLE who have REALLY ACHIEVED GOD. This is the SIGNIFICANCE of GOD'S GOVERNMENT WORK on humanity.🙏

Kyoshi has two novels focused on her and theyre really great!! (if youre interested in learning more about her!)

Honeslty a fully trained Avatar is hands down just on a different level. Even the most powerful benders can't really do anything when faced with that level of power.
Well she is also the most powerful avatar so even among avatars Kyoshi is on a different level. This is why only she can take Aang’s body.

So aang is Ben 10 now?
Of course because why have Aang grow as a character when we can have Kiyoshi solve his problems for him.

That close-up shot of kyoshi's face with her eyes lit is so vadass, epic shot.
Avata kyoshi deserves her own show🔥🔥🔥
I like how she incorporates fire and earth into that tornado despite it not actually achieving anything. Arguably the water was unnecessary too. Just pure showing off.
Yep. It's Kyoshi. She needs to flex.
It’s like she’s mocking the firebenders with their own element lmao
I think the water just made them easier to gather up into the tornado, she scalded them when adding fire with water, and the earth was just there because she’s kyoshi (might’ve cut some people up tho)
If that's the cost to humble this asshat, then why not.
I really like this epic scene, it's very emotional, plus the supporting background sound gives me goosebumps

That's how you show 0.1% power of a Avatar. Nailed the scene.
She is immortal she could live for 300 years
.. did yall forget she killed as a last resort? she literally stated that herself.. in that one episode as well, when aang almost died over hsi crimes. she doesnt feel remorse over it, but killing was literally her last resort.. she tried all the peaceful options first..
