Metallica - Metallica (The Black Album) Remastered HQ

- I love this album. It sounds beastly. My only real complaint was that I always thought the balance between the frequency bands skewed too high. It was a bit tinny, lacked mids. The bass frequencies were great, so I left those mostly alone. I re-balanced the highs and mids though. The original was just too cymbal heavy and had a peak around 10k with a dip around 1k. You know, like that smile curve people love to do on heir home system or in their car. Other than that, I really wanted to make sure the impact of the drums was left intact. I mean, this is a Bob Rock album. Say what you will about him and what he did to Metallica, but that man knows how to make massive sounding albums. I tried hard not to lose that and, really, to accent it where I could. No real compression on here, just a small bit of multi band to catch peaks where I heavily EQ'd things. A couple db of modern style limiting as well, but nothing over 3db. Again, just evening out peaks and holding up those drum attacks so they smack you around a little bit. Bring on the haters and enjoy! This album for sure needs to be just cranked.

"Wherever I May Roam" is my favorite Metallica song of all time. From the intro to the guys backing James on the hook Wherever I May Roam(it's haunting), the synergy is perfection. I'm 40 and I've been listening since I was 9 (my first tape). It will never get old- Metallica forever!!
🤘🏻😫🤘🏻
35 and exactly the same feeling
Enter Jason
Sad But Jason
Holier Than Jason
The Jason
Wherever Jason May Roam
Don't Tread On Jason
Through The Jason
Nothing Else Jason's
Of Wolf And Jason
The Jason That Failed
My Friend Of Jason
The Jason Within
Lol!
Sadly James trod on Jason one too many times...
"Sad But Kirk" more like. Jason is alright.
@@yuritarelko9916 of course you're from CIS. Makes sense.
Yeah Jason Newstead is Metallic. It kinda ticks me off seeing the replacement dickhead.
30 years later and still one of the best sounding hard rock/metal albums ever and every song is a banger.
30 years old Black Album. And still banging the world!
I had a friend who everyone called gangsta Bob he only listened to gangsta rap. I told him if he listened to this album he'd have to like it. He said bs, he doesn't like that kind of music. So I finally got him to listen to it at a party, he was blown away and loved Metallica ever since.
Who else here agrees that Through the Never is a true hidden gem on this album?
Really good song
My Friend Of Misery is great too
Struggle Within too
Agreed
One of the best songs they played in Chile, I lost my neck there
Hail from France! 32 years later, this album is a real treasure, it's still the album I listen to to cheer me up, I saw them for the release in Spain, an unforgettable moment! 🤘
... 🤘 🇺🇲
... METALLICA 🇺🇲 from the USA, this one is a good one ... 🤘 🇺🇲
One of the rare albums we could put on at a party back in the day and let it play front to back, looped even, because every song was good. That's something about Metallica that they've always been able to accomplish but with this album especially. I'll never hear a song off this album and not instantly think of being a teenager playing quarters and doing beer-bongs back in my late teens, back when people could socialize without being weirdos.
It was one of the mega-hit records that actually DESERVED to sell as much as it did...
holier than thou always kinda annoyed me, but otherwise i agree with you :)
James always says, "Do you want heavy" etc. I never thought it that heavy. Until now.
This is HEAVY! Awesome remaster.
My neck almost broke in Holier Than Thou.
Been a fan since 86 - this mix is PHENOMENAL
This is a Spectacular album to play when I am in a really bad mood I think it gets the message across that I am not to be approached and to wait until I am over what ever is bothering me.
not even if the guy wants you headbang with you?
Wow I listen to this album from cover to cover this thing is a masterpiece I loved it
The 2 cents guy totally needs to get in on your videos, too.
Haven't heard this album in ages, what a great occasion to do so! From what i can hear so far you really enhanced the mids! That's lovely as i always thought the album had too deep bass and too loud drums
Really dig their power chord tone~~~~~~~
I believe it was a bit of an overreaction to what they did on "Justice" album. Basswise, I mean, although I always loved that bass, especially in songs like "Whenever I may roam". As for drums, well that's your standard Lars. :) Tbh he also sounds crazy good here.
Personally I hate more when ppl go too far in the other direction, for instance when on Dream Theater albums you can barely feel John Myung 90%of the time bc guitars are so friggin amped up. Not quite as egregious as the "Justice", but still.
Overall I agree, this is nice balance.
Great album, even my grandma would love it!!!!
Grandma said she prefers Megadeth. 😁
Great work as always you got that ear and vision on albums to seize the core of it. Gifted you are man thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the sincere compliment. Appreciated. Make sure to check out the channels discussion section for all the stuff YT took down.
Music that does not suck
SI ESTE NIVEL DE AUDIO SE HUBIERA LOGRADO EN EL AND JUSTICE FOR ALL , SERIA EL MEJOR ALBUM DE LA HISTORIA DEL METAL''''
This is the album that got me into music in general. For the longest time I thought I just didn't like music, then I found this album in my dad's collection when I was 14 and it changed everything for me. This remaster is great. Thank you for putting it up!
Nice! I got this album and GnR's Appetite from my older cousin when I was about 11 or 12. They were my first two albums. Classics through and through.
Great work as usual. This version made me realize that the verse riff in through the never is a straight up fight riff
CLASSIC
Najbolji album Metalike......mislim da vise nikada nece izbaciti nesto ovako dobro😊
Hell YEAH~~~~~~~ Such a CLASSIC album for head-bangers~~~~~~~
Not bad, I definitely see what you were going for. The problem with your EQ, though, is that it muffled the vocals. That emphasis of the high and low on the drums and bass made a nice valley for the vocals to go in. On the official version, the vocals are clear and sharp. Here, though the drums have a bit smoother high end which is nice, it stifled much of the clarity in the vocals. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it was definitely a trade off. If you don’t care about vocals and clear separation of the mix, then this is a great take on it
así da gusto escuchar este disco, sin tener la batería metida en el tímpano, tapando todo. Gran trabajo men!
You're the best...
The day I release a record I want you to master it for sure! haha.
And you're right, this album is begging to be cranked!
Compared to the official remaster, I still think this one is better. The 2021 remaster lacks mids and makes the guitars sound weaker.
This one the guitars have way more presence, sound more focused as well. Not to mention the snare has WAY more power behind it.
This takes me back
It was the first metal album i listen from Metallica
It was the introduction to metal.😅
HAPPY 32nd ANNIVERSARY!!!
This album was released on this date, August 12, 1991, 32 years ago, today!!
How about that!
🤘 😎
god dang bro you did great job. cheers
Well done my friend!!
omg sounds even hevier than original, in fact sounds MEGA ,well done bro...
Interesting project, thanks for uploading. Through the Never opening riff feels less saturated and maybe a bit less aggressive as a result, but on the other hand, it also opens up the chugging of the verse riff which I really liked.
this is good stuff
Had the cassette for the longest time and cranked it up lol to the point the cassette messed up xD finally got it on CD
Just got some new speakers and came here to test them, thanks!
Bardzo lubię ten album, jest tutaj dużo pięknej i ostrej muzyki. Rekomendacja na plus.
Love this song for ever
2024. needed this to remember where tf i came from
Nice work again, sir! It sounds more crunchy now. The drum-play benefits a lot from your work imo
Best rock song
Damn, I've always hated the tones on Metallica records but this sounds excellent. Nicely done!
Right? Bob Rock makes some damn fine sounding albums. Dr. Feelgood anyone?
Even Ride the Lightning?
Black álbum um dos melhores
6am on Sunday morning. Through the Never sounds great at 128db!!!
Can I put in a special request? I would absolutely kill to hear your respectful remaster of some early black metal! Hellhammer, Darkthrone, Burzum, Emperor.... The lofi quality was definitely part of the aesthetic when these albums were originally released and something I totally dig. Furthermore, I normally I scoff at "remastered" work, but you sir... your work is magic. I would love to hear your take on some of these tracks, particularly some of the breakdowns/instrumentals.
0ne of best albums forever 👌👍👏👏
I always think this album sounds best with the vocals set a bit back in the mix and the rhythm guitar brought a bit forward in the mix. This is a great remaster.
Yeah Sandman
Yeah But True
Yeah Than Thou
Yeah Unforgiven
Yeah I May Roam
Don't Yeah On Me

The Yeah That Failed
My Yeah Of Misery

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeahea
J'adore Metallica!
Thanks like all song jejej
Nice.....I like what you've done. After the first four albums, this one was the one I felt was a big departure for the band. Today though, it's going to be nice to reimerse my self to a Nicely aged vintage.......wine. Thanks! Peace.
Thanks. And yeah, it really does hold up after all these years. MoP is still their masterpiece, but this one never ages and always rocks.
@@respectfulremastersbymetal8336 ride the lightning
Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning are the top two for me. Put them in whatever order you want.
Ride and Justice are the best
I think this is their best, musically. And best sounding, best production. Sure not a thrasher through and through, but this is just a great heavy metal album. I think MoP does not hold up as well if you no longer care for thrash as much. It has three great classic thrash songs, the rest are fillers. Black album has so many great tracks. Hatfields best vocal performance, Kirk's best bluesy guitar playing, Lars' finally sounding like a good drummer, Newsteds bass deservedly holding things together.
This fucking album is fucking oldschool i ❤ it 😊
Wow I like this quite a bit more than the original
Se oye igual 🙄
Thank You Metallica ♥️!Love You Forever more ♥️
YEAAHH MY FAV ALBUM!!!!
Awesome \m/
One of the best things the band sang
Great album 😉
now we get proper remaster in september
Ngl I’m kind of annoyed about the fact that if they would’ve released it four days later then it would’ve been on my bday 😅
This album sounds freakin great... But the "Master of Puppets" remaster was taken down. I loved that remaster, and then that happens.
Time to paint my 40k as I did when I was a child playing this sucker on my TAPE player ! Black Album Tape Cassette is bullet proof lol The more you play it the better it gets haha . Well kinda but ya I really play the hell out of that tape.
My friend of misery is awesome
This is awesome. Would love to hear you take on Cowboys from hell.
BWAAAAAHWAAAAAAAHWAHWAH cant play Kirk's solos without mouthing 'em
LMAO!! Kirk Wahmmett
Lars' snare sounds like a gunshot, which I really like actually
Amazing band ...all of the time...never mind
Metal is eternal !
Lol u saying it in the album metallica got hardrock
Hillpagans16
Is there somewhere that you could upload this song-by-song? I would appreciate it!
Great job Man! Pls do with death magnetic
Wish I could, that one is WAY to loud. No room to work. At most I could touch up the EQ a bit. :(
Someone remastered it. It's called Death Magnetic Unloaded and it sounds awesome. Look it up in torrents.
@@respectfulremastersbymetal8336 Pretty late, but you could use the guitar hero versions of the songs since those are actually mixed properly.
@@jloe01 Unfortunately the GH3 versions are really low bitrate, somewhere around 128kbps iirc :(
There's already a lot of fan remasters out there.
Metallica holds strong!
Truly the best album
Best rock/metal album of all time.
✔️
Do you have possession of master tracks? Nice mix man.
Fuck yea
Fuckin great quality sounds!
The thing is. I liked the deep heavy rhythm guitar sound they had originally with the album. I use it to test headphone, lol. On this video, it's all a little weaker. When it comes to bass listing to rock, metal etc. I like heavy rhythm guitar, not heavy boom-boom drum bass.
The best metal album...
Sounds huge! Great job. Metallica at the apogee of their musical creativity. Ultimately this was one of the last hurrah of heavy music.
their best album ever!
Se sigue oyendo igual q el original
Not a big fan of Metallica but I frickin love this album
... 🤘 🇺🇲
... METALLICA 🇺🇲 from the USA, this one is a good one ... 🤘 🇺🇲
Skip to 33:37, get into power stance and plug in your air guitar. You're welcome🤘
Anyone else looking for And justice for all remastered, but can't quite find it on this channel?
Favorite song is My Friend of Misery 🖤
The Only Metallica Record I will Drum Cover on Tiktok but truth be told: Creeping Death is their Master piece.
Hey men your work is so nice, there's anyway to get the file?
Sounds good enough in my car media player...
You gotta do souls of black -testament or any anthrax album
Another masterpiece! What happened to your Parliament remasters?
UA-cam took down like 70% of my channel, no reason, no warning, and won't contact me after repeated attempts. I have no idea why. Check out the community section on the channel for a post by me to help you with what you need.
Thanks!
@@respectfulremastersbymetal8336 I seriously can't see that post
They went down hill after this. Sad but true!
This remaster made heavy metal heavy metal.
Nah this album just brought metal to a mainstream audience. And proved that metal can have good production.
happy birthday
Little off topic but what happened to your License To Ill remaster?
UA-cam pulled like 70% of my content with no notice and no contact or explanation. Everything was setup how they wanted it and the artists got the credit and were even auto-monetized to get their money. They won't put anything back up either. Its BS. Anyway, check out the public discussion section for a giant post and several responses by me with links for the removed stuff.
You should upload the tracks individually.
What about Kill 'Em All?
Any way you could upload the track individually?
#LandlockedAstronaut 🤙👌👍🤘
