We enjoyed our stay there. We are in the class C MinnieWinnie @ 8:05 in the video. It can get a bit windy but it's nice being able to see the water from our RV. Not sure why so many seem to cluster in Quartzsite when this is available and so close to Yuma.
I spent many years as a child camping at Senators. What I found interesting is how quickly the water levels changed from day to day. We would wake up to a flooded camp or dry boats. We always made the best of it.
In about 1964 Senator's Wash was being built. On a weekend when there were no workers there, a buddy and I took a dune buggy down into the wash & drove all around the construction equipment. There were big rock outcrops where they were not moving the dirt around & were left as they were. I know where they are & that is where the fish hang out. Lots of fascinating things about this area.
Thanks for the look at a nice BLM Area Sir!
Squaw Lake and the opposite side of Senator Wash, are separate fee areas not associated with the LTVA, for anyone interested. Squaw Lake is part of the Colorado River system but Senator Wash is a standalone lake. The Imperial Dam LTVA area is vast, with this video just touching the surface for the camping areas. I normally spend Christmas/New Year timeframehere due to the access to Yuma. Added bonus is the Christmas parade (decked out ATVs complete with Santa) and you get to celebrate New Year twice due to the close proximity to Arizona/California that have a 1 hour timezone difference. Thanks for posting this one, Russ.
I grew up in Yuma & since my Dad worked at Imperial Dam we lived a number of years in government housing near the dam. Best years of my life. Incredible place.
Thanks for Sharing Russ! Beautiful Waterfalls! Enjoy your journey! Stay Safe..
so glad i banked this for my Sat morning!!
Yes on Power boats and jet skis. Saw lots!!
Another narrated excellente video!
You have the perfect voice for a baseball announcer! ⚾🧢!
I spent 3 years over at the US Army Yuma Proving Grounds just east of the river on the Arizona side, between 1975 and 1978. Neat to see your video of the area. Can't count the number of times I drove to Yuma down Imperial Dam road, thru Bard and Winterhaven. 18 miles from the main gate of the base to 4th Ave and 16th street in Yuma.
As another viewer mentioned, the long term LTVA permit is good up topside camping areas but down on the water front requires another permit.
Thanks for taking me along on this journey. I really enjoy riding with you. I hope and pray that this will continue. I appreciate that each area has it's own uniqueness about itself. The journey must continue. Stay safe and healthy. Happy rving.
always love your videos ,very informative.
🙋♀️Hello Russ! An artists palette for sure. 🌷🌼HAPPY EASTER🌼🌷
The structure you referred to as the Dam is actually a pump station that pumps excess water released from Parker Dam into Senator Wash for temporary storage until it can be released for use for downstream water users, irrigation districts. When it releases water it actually produces electricity. Imperial Dam is just downstream of this structure. There is only two reservoirs to temporally store water once it is released from Parker Dam, Senator Wash and Brock Reservoir. (these two reservoirs are used to reduce the amount of water sent to Mexico in excess of treaty).
A video good enough to make me want to go there.
Boating in the desert...amazing!
The Dam was pretty and the Lake was so blue. The BLM is vast and so clean. Nice Video.
Enjoyed another wonderful Video. Beautiful day for your video. Beautiful scenery. Safe travels. ✌❤🤗
Happy April 1st Russ! Your hillbilly follower in southern West Virginia checking in. 😊👍👍
Love that place! Senator Wash is the best! Love that area! You do need a special pass for $75 called the Arizona Pass to park in restricted area like North Beach. Very bumpy road and a lot of locals invaded it on weekends with no pass. Just kind of took over! So I like the AZ Pass and it moves with you also. Can go to Cibola NWA.
You are right Senator Wash.
A couple of fun facts: Laguna Dam was the first built on the Colorado River. The Senator Wash plant is equipped with pumps that generate electricity when water is returned the the river. Nice Vid!
Russ: Thanks for another winter of great travel videos! You are a better narrator/ guide, than you think!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not really a fan of the desert. But, I can appreciate people like yourself or Georgia O'Keeffe. There is a certain intrinsic beauty in the stark terrain. Another fun adventure. Wish I was riding shotgun.
I watch all your video's Russ and really enjoy them---don't comment on all but I watch---thankyou and God bless---stay safe-
Great video thanks for sharing nothing. But the best from RVTV and the grandkids says hello travel well Sir Lance and family
The desert areas are soooooooo...... neat!
Thank you for this video, plan go going there in the future to stay for 6 months out of the year.
Thanks for the ride!! Travel safe sir 👍
I'll have to check it out this November thank you.
Hey Russ!! "NICE RELAXING " Area!! Be Safe!!!
Thanks Russ. That LTVA area looks interesting. My wife and I are leaving soon for a several month tour of the West. I know some campers disapprove of using a generator but , since we will only be doing this probably one time, it doesn't make sense to spend hundreds if not thousands on solar. If we had to do that it would make the trip unaffordable for us. We hope to use BLM land a good bit and I know we will have to run our generator some. It's an on board Oman 4000. Not the quietest but not bad. We will be as considerat as possible and camp away from people when we can. Thanks for all the tips on places to see. Maybe we'll see you on the road. Your's is one of the few videos I watch on a regular basis. Keep up the good work and happy Easter. 👍👍🙏🙏
Thanks for the spot! Looks fantastic. Thanks for the tour. Larry Miller San Diego Ca.
Another great ride along. Ty. What a beautiful color that water is, wow. I would stay at the BLM spots you've shown us. 😊👍
Good fishing!!!
$180 for 6 months. That's less than a dollar a day. Can't beat it.
thanks for sharing. i remember an Armory museum in the area, then i saw the cannons!
Been waiting for this we have spent 2 winter's here. Looked for you but get I missed you.
That was a nice trip with you russ thanks !
No one wants to go down to Tucson in the summer so this time the boss choose me....
Lots to see and do for boondockers at the Imperial Dam LTVA BLM Campground.
👍👍 Thanks
What a great area to explore and camp. So beautiful. Thanks for today’s drive Russ.
Absolutely love your videos. Keep up the great work boss. ❤️👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Russ, another great video. The Cannon you showed was designed to shoot Nuclear warheads. These were deployed around Europe after World War 2 during the "cold war" era. My cousin was stationed in Europe for a couple of years and was a crew member on one of these mobile nuclear cannons.
Thanks
Fabulous. Thanks, Russ.
Small shout out to a Culinary Institute of America graduate. Top chef cooked at 49er Superbowl few years back...his fishing skills are legendary as well. I forget which part of Arizona he's from...
I'd love to have that cannon in my front yard. LOL
Awesome stuff Brother. Please don`t stop.
Great Video, Russ !!
I always enjoy your videos!
I am having serious Deja Vu. Did you take us here in the middle of Summer last year? Am I dreaming?
Interesting thing if you like geology. On the way to Senator's Wash, on the left at the T-intersection on the right going to Imperial Dam is evidence of a 600,000/800,000 year old volcanic eruption from California. You can clearly see about 2 feet of volcanic ash on top of normal dirt, with normal dirt on top of the ash. Very interesting.
Finally, something pretty. want to see closer water shoreline and camping. What about boat launching ramps?
I'd want a heated pool and jacuzzi! A natural hot spring pool like at Franklin Hot Springs, Paso Robles, Ca.!
Imperial Dam is a great long-term camping area. You summarized the good points really well. The wind can be pretty brutal in there, though - and for days on end. Just a relentless rush of wind. If you visit there, be sure to secure your outdoor items and small dogs! ;-)
Hi kids.....BLM means “Bureau of Land Management”. Hope that clears things up.
It’s a dry heat lol 😂
Boondock comes from the Tagalog word Bundok. It means mountain.
👍👍😊
Rus didn't mention they also have propane and even a post office.
Loved the video you did a good job
Let’s go
Be the place for me for the winter, Russ. Need a rig though...got any spare cash? har har
Russ, did you get any FULL MOON PHOTO'S????
We are camping by Laguna Dam now
thumb 👍
That's not the Dam you were looking at the it's the pump house for the reservoir, btw drank a lot of beer, smoked a lot of weed and met a lot of girls there back in the day😉
Hi Russ, How much is out of state fishing license for Nevada and Arizona ?
I used to have free solar heat all summer in Yuma.
Don Pedro dam in Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties was or is the largest earth-fill dam in the world.
Can you swim here around Imperial Dam area?
gosh was i the reason they put fences up? I camped in Arizona and crossed at the imperial spillway
Lived there in this area for a few winter's absolutely nothing to do there!!! after you have seen it there's nothing else to do only good thing is the warmer weather during winter
One problem....there is no cell phone service in most places. And to camp on the water you need a BLM Recreational Permit which is different than the LTVA pass.
i don't see the "no cell phone service" being a problem.
Russ the sites on the water are not LTVA you need a special permit it is 75.00 for 14 days. I believe it is good all season but you need to leave for x about of days before returning.
Thanks for the info 👍
@@anitabackroadsonly9086 the cell service is great at the lake. We get TMobile and Verizon. However in most of the
The LTVA the only one you can get a signal on is Verizon. Some areas do not get that. Do check before you camp.
How's the cell phone service?
Soon to be SnoBird and wondering what BLM is like for us folks that like to practice our 2nd Amendment Right. I enjoy long range target shooting. Other then super dry conditions were a bullet can touch off a fire, is there areas I can do up to 1500 yard targeting? BTW I love all your shows and have caught you live a few times. Happy Trails.... Bob

We dislike crowds also
12:09 - "fish, camp, boat, what else you want?"
I'd like the free beer, please.
You first though, captain.
Why can't you stay there in the summer?
You can if you can stand the HEAT, it gets around 120+ degrees.
@@TreeLBollingTreeMan Well, I have lived in the Desert Southwest for years. I moved to Tempe, Az. in 85'. I had a 84' F-150 4x4. Around 1988 I took it in for an oil change. The mechanic laughed and said that I'd be trading it soon. Why, I asked? No A/C was his reply. Well Mr. I lived here since 85', and I like this fine. I lived in an old Winnebago Chieftain for years. No elect or A/C. In Chandler Hts., Phoenix and Yuma. For years. I am currently in the Daytona Florida area. Sanford and Orlando are far worse in MHO. The humidity is dreadful. Back to the Desert soon I hope. Hate it here.
😃👍🇺🇸
72 miles from Q
So nice to see a part of our country where BLM stands for “”” bureau of land management!!!
That clear blue aspect of the lower Colorado is not natural. Most of the silt has settled out in all the reservoirs the river passes through. May be appealing to the eye, but the absence of the nutrients it carries is killing the Sea of Baja.
14:13 - $180 every six months works out to.....98 CENTS a day.
"Sign me up"
Kinda cool, but the problem with that many people, is well, that many people.
👍👍😊
