Interesting how this only plays when you play against people that had to do something with the ancient dragon war. That implies the first dude with the fire monsters used to be someone important and was involved in some way. Dude literally just went insane it seems
Well, we don't know anything about Gisshan other than what he says. He mentions the dead in the tower talking to him, and with knowing what is dead in the tower, I'd imagine the dragons directed him to stop Garr from bringing Ryu there, or at least just stop Ryu from just getting there.
Most definitely one of my favorite battle themes of all time. I like the other battle theme to just as much as this one its more serious than the other one. In the end breath of fire have classic music from 123.

My dad told me that BoF 3 was one of his first RPGs. It was the first that really stuck with him, and it’s what got him into RPGs as a genre. The first RPG that really stuck with me was FF4, then I jumped into FF7 and got really hooked. My dad recommended this game to me, and at the time I thought that nothing could top FF7. Then I played BoF3. Honestly I’m still debating which is better, and I finished the game YEARS ago.
And to it's truth, the first time it's heard is pretty much the toughest fight during the Childhood Arc. The only other boss I can think of that puts up as much of a fight is Stallion.

During the whole game up to the point this plays for the first time you only get that talk show music for bosses. When I finally heard it I knew, shit was about to get real.
Actually if you pay close attention none of the enemies with this theme are truely evil. Even The Zombie Dragon..he's just a misguided angry prick, but can you blame him?

Never forget the fight against the elder of the brood while unable to use Ryu´s Dragon Form - So Rei will have to do the damage with his transformation. As a child i hated this battle because Rei went nuts and killed off my Team several times x.x Until my friend told me to use the command ability (i think it was command) to prevent being attacket by Rei
I always loved using a party with Peco in the front, if you put Peco with Fahl as his master from level 1, so he's a fucking monster, and then put him in the front of the triangle party formation so he counters every attack made against him...either that or a party featuring weretiger Rei and Influence ^^

I think a lot of the songs in this game are somehow not catchy to me, although I think this might be the second-most catchy for me personally. I was definitely thinking of this song when it was not playing some times even while playing the game. But I think that is only because it feels so emotional to hear this song and I am in the right mood. The most catchy would be Fighting Man. I stopped forgetting about that song after a while but I forget about all the others. It just is such a classy song and in my opinion creates the most serious mood in the game, which is perfect for an unwinnable fight. Probably the best unwinnable fight in any game just because of the music.
