ABS Data Important for Evaluating COVID Response

- I don't speak the bureaucratic jargon used in Canberra, so sometimes the bureaucrats struggle to grasp a straightforward question in plain English. It took some time for the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to understand my question, which was about our high migrant intake from a health perspective.
For years, Australians were mandated to get vaccinated. They couldn't access certain places or participate in activities without being vaccinated. The latest COVID mandates were only lifted for firefighters and healthcare workers just last month.
The ABS is responsible for maintaining official records on these matters, particularly provisional and final mortality reports. I asked whether they have records of the vaccination status of new arrivals so that vaccination rates of all Australians (both new and existing) could be graphed against known health outcomes.
I sort of received a response, but the reality is the ABS does not know the vaccination status of the 2.3 million new arrivals, rendering any data they generate inherently inaccurate. This also applies to births by vaccination status, suggesting that new arrivals from countries where vaccination wasn't pushed have a higher birth rate compared to vaccinated Australians.
This data is really important for two main reasons: first, to understand the harm our COVID response did to Australians and second, to assist in the planning and resourcing of the next response.
I will continue questioning the accuracy and relevance of ABS data.

CPI is nonsense when Coles, Woolies etc change prices several times within a few weeks. E.g. A 1.25 litre bottle of Pepsi went from $1.60, to $3.60, to $2.00, to $3.00, to $3.20, and back to $2.50, all in the space of a few weeks. Insane!

“I’ve gone through this (Covid) process in the last four years, of realising that I spent the first 50 some years of my life, believing and trusting a certain world view. Yes. With Covid. And everything thereafter, all of that fell apart".
At a bare minimum we need a Royal Commission with extremely broad terms of reference, even better would be a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The latter would give them the opportunity to say this is what we did and why we did it; this is what we should of done and we apologise for all the suffering we allowed to happen. Awarding the Companion of the Order of Australia to former premier Daniel Andrews, says it all about their level of arrogance and disregard of the electorate.

So much layered work was done in law to fuck us over, and over and over we don't actually truly know how far they went as the government sites do not actually list the changes or new additions. Like Canadian mischief laws were expanded to the point that if you farted too loud that would be considered a crime as you were breaking someone else's rights around you. Sick stuff.
The bureaucrat says they never count the ethnicities in Australia. This is a dereliction of duty. The Immigration Department has always had designated quotas for immigrants arriving to Australia. Why on earth would that not be correlated with actual arrivals? The only reason can be a deliberate policy of obfuscation of our changing national ethnic makeup.

Once again Senator Roberts demonstrates what we expect ALL politicians to be doing. Asking the hard questions and not being deflected or accepting avoidance mechanisms. It seems our 'health professionals', and the admin staff who oversee them, are so bound up in their own small world's of how their particular system works for them that it gives them tunnel vision, so they can no longer see the big picture. Is this a good thing ? In my opinion this needs correcting.

Thanks Senator- my wife and I are living on one wage - she lost her job due to the mandates….. our rent went up $200 in the last few months and by the time we pay our bills we are living on 1kg of mince and 24 sausages per month with a few vegetables thrown in . This is unsustainable and we are merely existing not living

@@tailorfish She was a "wardie" in our local hospital and she needed to get a 2nd Jab as well as a top up on another vaccine she had but had no record of it. She also got a job in a different hospital and needed proof of having 2 jabs, all in the last 6-9 months. I was FORCED to get 2 jabs or loose my job working in WA and traveling from Qld
I can guarantee that mothers are required to register birth at the hospital, so there’s no ‘delay’ on registering births.

I find these hearings depressing. Reluctance to answer questions and poor data both evidence of bureaucracy that thinks it’s above politicians and the people. The senators doing their jobs are obviously resented.
