    Warwick is a legend. You will worship him and quote his lines with the same accent "Shows Ovaa". The song during end credits is just.... something else....maybe the greatest song ever created.

    Yes indeed there are peaks & valleys in Stephen King adaptations. While not a classic by any means some of the practical SFX are good along with some nice cinematography shots. Agreed pacing was an issue as well, but on a lazy afternoon it could be slightly watchable...I suppose.

      @@ThreadBomb Totally. The artwork was amazing back then because they had to use the covers to sell the films.

  • @Emulous79

    Stephen King must have had some lousy employers at some stage. Pat Hingle was a jerk boss in Maximum Overdrive, Stephen Macht in this, and Robert Englund was the craziest in The Mangler.
    The person being stuck in the wing seems to have been lifted from this film for Jeepers Creepers 2. Very similar death sequence.

  • @Seawing-v5d
    @Seawing-v5d Місяць тому +2

    Why oh why not just use the original short story as-is and tell some of the other stories as well. The Mangler would have made a good addition, instead of trying to cram the monster from that story in as well. Also don't pick a rat up by the tail it's bad for them.

  • @ThreadBomb
    @ThreadBomb Місяць тому +1

    It's funny how the "drifter" looks the least homeless of all the characters in the movie.

    This is a great bad movie. One of my favorites. Great performances, rats, and a cool monster. Much better than Children of the Corn and some of the others mentioned. Maybe Dourif's best role. I have no love for Chucky. He's just too bizarre and silly in the Alien sequel. This and Billy Babbit are his most iconic roles. Plus, Wishmaster...and a bunch of unique nobodies. Can't get enough of Graveyard Shift. Please review Dead Zone and Thinner some time! Both classics.

    In the short the guy's a drifter who stops for awhile to take what work he can get, it takes place during this extreme heatwave-- nineties and hundreds of degrees during like two and three in the morning hours.
    So they're working down in this rat infested infested basement and the dude spends his breaks pottin' em wirh his empty beer cans-- and he never seems to miss. In fact, the rats seem to hate him. There never was a slingshot, and they weren't soda cans.
    He and the other guys he's working with discover this massive old rusted shut trap door-- some sort of sub basement.
    The asshole boss makes them force it open and go down there too.
    The rivalry between drifter and boss has been building, and right around now shit turns personal with some sort of dare (I forget). The monster rat in the short either doesn't have wings or they aren't it's main deformity-- it has these massive ripped front legs and NO BACK LEGS AT ALL. It basically moves by draggin' itself around on it's ass.
    It's vaguely said that the drifter "thinks that of all the places he's been, he's actually been waiting to find something like this".
