I’m so GRATEFUL for this comparison! Wow. Thank you, thank you! I decided in the last week, after much research, to switch to The Common Planner. I was concerned I wouldn’t have the weekly, which is an absolute must for me. I use the daily pages for accountability that I journal and art journal every single day of the year, but I am completely happy to date my own pages. I love the freedom to use 2 pages if I decide. And after using Hobo for many years, I am ready to be done with the quotes and for a fresher and more minimalistic clean look. You gave me all the info I needed!
Thank you for this video. I have a cousin avec and I am getting a common planner for 2024. I love that it isn’t in the 24 hour clock. I always have to subtract 12 each time. Also I don’t always use the whole page when I am journaling about the day and if I could use put 2 days on one page. I would have black space that I feel I have to decorate to look good.
yes, exactly! That's what I love about the blank pages. There's so much more space! I often don't decorate my pages in the Cousin because I'm afraid of running out of space when I need it (even though I rarely use the whole page anyway, lol!) I think I'm going to enjoy the freedom of the undated pages.
Ahh I didn't realize this was different since it's the first time I've gotten it. I think that's one of the things that made me freak out a bit when I first looked at it. The weekly pages looked "wrong."
good news :) the gold on the edges holds up very well. I have the SI from 2023 and I have loved it. The 2024 SI cover has been improved so it should hold up better than the 23's. We shall see.
yay, that's so good to know! I hate the dirty pages of my hobonichi... I think the gold leaf will improve that. And I think the CP binding will hold up fine if I put it in a case. I also just hate to cover up the gorgeous pink cover!
Great video! I spent some time this morning on the Hobonichi site for their Nov. 1 release, but I still can't decide. Then, the Aura Estelle site is having a sale, then Sterling Ink said that they were going to have another release in November. I've read a lot of comments regarding the SI binding, and have seen the "dirty pages" of other Cousin videos and that's really concerning. These planners are not cheap and I don't want to buy planners for the sake of buying planners. I want to use every bit that I buy. Coming from Erin Condren to a Happy Planner/Hourly Grid cousin lineup for next year has been interesting. I want to use the Hobonichis for journailing everyday. *I am too often awake at those early/late hours so that point goes to the Cousin for the 24 hour layout. lol
I totally agree! These planners are all so expensive... to the point where things that usually would just be minor irritations become major irritations because I spent so much money on them! And I also never want to buy a planner just for the sake of buying it... I typically never would've bought both a Cousin and a Common Planner because I feel like it's wasteful... but maybe in a roundabout way I'm helping other people avoid waste by making the comparison videos 😆Good news, though--I've gotten another comment that the gold leaf on the CP does hold up well, so hopefully that will fix the "dirty pages" issue. I am concerned about the binding, but I do have a case I can use for it, and I think it'll hold up well in a case.... but stay tuned because I'm planning on continuing to post comparisons as I use them both!
The most obvious difference is going cross-eyed in trying to see the grid on the page in order to write straight. Once there is writing on the other side of the page, it is invisible. This is the one thing that really annoys me about the planner. Else it is great as a book that I can actually really use as a common place notebook. Also, I am frankly tired of fan people attacking me for this viewpoint. They be young with still great eye site, or not have a vision impairment as they have gotten a bit older. I have a vision impairment, my eye takes a while to focus. Why they love this lighter grid is so they can water color?!?! heck there are probably 50 Etsy shops where they can buy a blank TMR old and new notebook to do this in. Why be such ableist individuals who are entitled to think only people like them deserve to be able to use this notebook.

Hello, This is the best video because you made a comparison between the two. Thank you. I am glad I subbed to your channel.
Thank you for the follow! I'm so glad it helps!
Anybody else feel super bummed that the CP took away the lines between the days in the weekly pages?
Very bummed ☹️ I liked the seperation between the days, it works better for my brain to separate the days on the weekly pages.
