Hi! New subscriber here, MIS really caught my eye and I want to major in it but I have a few questions 1. I am an accounting major, I saw your vid about accounting vs MIS and that’s how I was convinced about MIS 2. What are some entry level graduate jobs? That’s what I’m worried about. I know accounting had a lot of starter jobs but how about MIS? Would a CS graduate compete with me? And possibly get chosen? I live in VA so I don’t know the competition. 3. How were your classes? I know it was in 2005 but how were they? A lot of coding? I have no coding skill and look toward learning it
Right now I’m 27 years old and finally decided to major in MIS. It’s been 8 years since I stopped going to college and within those 8 years I have been undecided just continued to work normal jobs. After watching your videos and content, I really appreciate you taking the time to put out valuable information. I didn’t know what the difference between the MIS and CIS until I came across your video. Thank you ☺️ if I ever have questions regarding MIS, I’d definitely reach out.
Hey bro I am 27 also. I just finished my GED a month ago and this new year I’m starting community college for an associates in CIS. Never too late man. Let’s chase this money.
Great content brother. MIS is really underrated. As the world becomes more dependent on technology(especially in business), this discipline only increases in value. Data analytics is also a gem
As someone who did MIS undergrad and currently CIS in grad school with a focus on SAP and data analytics, this video really answered many questions for me. I would say in my case of SAP, doing MIS first to get the business coursework and my CIS degree now focusing on on SAP makes sense but the downside is it doesn’t cover more current data topics and tools like BI of the current version of SAP which Fiori. So there still is a learning curve on my part but I think companies need to understand the degree will give you foundational knowledge but every company has their own way using certain tools and technologies.
Awesome Nicole. You are so right... Degrees just teach you the foundation and each company will have their own way of doing things especially related to ERP and Supply Chain Systems. Although schools try, they really do very little in preparing for the real world. Companies do understand this I believe.
CIS is good if you’re dead set on tech, but MIS is good if you want to be flexible. Both certainly have great ROI and are some of the best out there. But for MIS you might want to specialize just as for various business, liberal arts, and/or other ‘useless’ majors.

1. Accounting is a great major. No need to switch unless you like technology and really like people. 2. There are many entry level jobs such as a business analysts, help desk analyst, project manager that you can get. I have an entire catalog on this channel about the jobs you can get as a mis major. There is usually 1 maybe 2 programming classes that's it. MIS is a great major, and accounting is a great major, make the decision based on your long term goals and what your interest are.
I start my third year this summer. What role did you get? How was the starting pay that the degree was able to afford you? Any info would be appreciated
@@justinfay3011 The role is a Financial Risk analyst and starting pay is 66k + 2500 sign on bonus! Keep working hard and make sure to fill your resume with different internships that interest you. That'd the most important advice I could give. Experience is better than a high GPA.

Hi @J Uzumaki - MIS majors should be looking for internships during the summer. Get as much real world experience as possible so that you can exit college with a high chance of employment. The projects that you are assigned in your internship can go on your resume.
TPS are just systems. For example if you currently work for a company their payroll system uses TPS to process payroll. HR systems use TPS as well. Almost every software solution has some form of it. Both of these degrees will prepare you to work with a system that has TPS.
