Showing off is said to be a fool's sense of glory. That is certainly true in the sport of boxing. A split-second mental slip can have terrible consequences. It's always interesting to witness showboating fail badly in combat sports, whether it's due to a little dancing during the fight, trash talk in the ring, or during the weigh-in. Without further ado, here are the times when arrogant Fighters were destroyed by their opponents.

@T Jones I respectfully disagree with your statement. We must have watched different fights if you claim young Tyson fought bums except for Holmes and Spinks. And for the record, Tyson vowed to pulverize Holmes in response to how Holmes beat the hell out of a over-the-hill Ali. Tyson owed him those fists of fury. Holmes fronted like he ain't want to slay Ali like that, hence, putting his hands out and shoulders up when addressing the ref, but then proceeded to pummel Ali with a borage of damaging punches to end the bout. TYSON owed him that ass whipping. And what about that big white dude ( can't think of his name at this second) but he was on Tyson ass, landing punches, taking punches, and pushed forward fearlessly in his fight with Tyson. Did better than damn near all the higher ranked fighters..... (for a short span of time that is, which is how long most of his fights went anyway)..

Badr Hari even best Anderson Silva in a kickboxing match. Badr Hari us beaten tons of the most legendary kick-boxers of all time. Ratings are more important than the sport itself to the people writing paychecks to the boxers. What this guy said about Tyson was pretty mild compared to some of the shit I've heard.

Watch that punch in slow motion. Mosley threw the right and then turned his bodyweight into the left that dropped him. He hit him in one of the most vulnerable spots on the human body and Mayorga didn't see it coming. There was zero give in Mayorga's body when the punch landed.
I'm honestly surprised that he wasn't rolling around on the ground like Oscar De La Hoya against Hopkins.

Mayorga had accrued some losses during his career. Mostly by his own doing in letting himself be hit as an act of strategy. Why? Who knows?Either way, not too smart. He would just purposely let his guard down too many times...and, for too long. All that said, the dude is one tough hombre' to put down. I don't think that I've ever seen anybody take that much punishment and still not go down. No way would I want to get in a street fight with him...You'd just have to break out the shootin iron and be done with it. Otherwise, you'd be boppin heads with him each and every time you ran into him lol. But, the dude could take some punishment.

I know I am going to get torn a new one for saying this, but Americans we need to take a step back from finding entertainment in people being seriously injured. I know it feels good to see these punks get humiliated, but our culture has embraced violence and look at how things are going.
It's an awfully dangerous place to make such a comment. The number of 15 year olds who do not truly understand how violence as a form of entertainment has undermined what makes America great, that everyone in America has access to safety or rapid response to safety (I worded that terribly). Anyway, on with the show.
