Another great feature is that it is compatible with Echo Show. This means, once you have installed the arlo skill, you can ask Alexa to show a specific camera and it will show a live feed. Awesome sauce!!! I have 8 arlo cams and they are great. And so easy to set up.

I have used the arlo pro for about 4 months and they were fantastic with one BIG exception. Battery life is surprisingly good. The exception is they do not work in weather below approx. 0 degrees F. Here in Montreal we have had consistent weather below 0 and they both have stopped working with message that says "Camera must warm up before it can be used". Also the audio is not very loud. It is audible but if there is traffic noise they can be hard to hear one talking through to it. I do have a wired Ring camera that is not having either of these two problems.

Coming from the first generation cameras these are a lot better with image sensor, motion sensor, audio sensor and the larger bundles do coffee with a tilt mount too. The base station is actually the major upgrade since i hear it boosts connection to 500 feet away from 300 and footprint is much smaller

Just following up..How are the cameras working out?
Got around to installing (only because my 1yr old granddaughter was here for an overnight stay and I needed a baby cam monitor). Installation was a breeze as noted in your video. I did some initial integration into smartthing which was also pretty easy. The arlo software is good, but I’m still trying to get a handle on controlling notifications. The cameras I have are the Pro Not Pro 2, and as noted by others the video quality of the Pro is OK but not great.
Some things I really like. The ability to share my arlo account with others, and for each person I share with I can personalize which cameras they have access to (way cool)
The rules based script in the arlo software is pretty straightforward. However, it’s also limited, for example it’s easy enough for one camera to act as the trigger and then have another camera record, but I can’t find a way in arlo to have multiple cameras to record on a single trigger.
Looking forward to integrating the cameras more fully into smartthing, once that is done I should good ability to interface through my google home devices (which plays well with smatthing)
A big thanks to my granddaughter, whose overnight visit finally prompted me to dust off the arlo package and install

Do I have to sign up for a service or can I just simply set it up to my cellphone and install a memory card?
Nice review, was wondering how the battery lasts for you? I use mostly nest camera's but would love the flexibility of the battery option.
They are lasting 4 months. it depends on how much traffic you get. if there isn't much motion you can get 6 months on the battery.
You only have to charge the battery after 4 months, not replace them. Its a rechargeble battery and you charge with the included charger (micro usb).
Correct...the battery on the camera is rechargeable. Just plug it into the provided USB charging cable. They also sell extra batteries with a charging pack, so you didn't need to wait for the charging time. You can swap out the batteries with a fully charged one. We don't have this, we take it down and re-charge it.
Do you recommend battery powered cameras? We generally don't. I work at Armorax, a home security company, and we always try to steer our customers away from battery powered options. PoE cameras are the best, but if you can't get a PoE camera, a good old power source is the way to go. Takes a little bit of installation work, but it's the proper way to do it.

Can the motion zone be manipulated so it records motion in only part of the camera view? ie: the front yard but not street traffic. Is there an SD card slot?

HomeAutomationX no they didn’t. Sucks because that is the main reason I bought the Show. I’m thinking it’s just the app itself that Netgear created but none of the sides (Netgear or amazon) is responding.
In using a usb drive storage, can I remotely watch it after 7 days on the free 7 day plan?

The night vision is the worst I've seen. I bought the 4 camera system ... Waste of money considering prowlers don't come out during the day time.Batteries last just over a month, and the speaker is so bad I've turned them off. Sure wish they would live up to their advertising.
Anyone had this for a long while... I have bought tons of cameras that die! Our internet here is horrible and disconnects and connects a lot. Also, from the time someone walks by how long till it starts to record? The old one was 5+ seconds I was not able to see who was messing with our door.

Cameras lose sync after power outage - every time.
If it happens early in the day while i'm at work, i have the rest of the work day without my cameras working. if it happens while i'm sleeping, i'd go the whole night without my cameras working.
the cameras should re-sync automatically after the base station has power restored. it's a faulty program, plain and simple. Still hoping they update the base station to fix this completely.
i've put a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) 350 to 1000w on every modem, router , hub I install especially in residential. , Amazon` roughly cost 70 dollars , the APC brand350watt has a battery door, drops out in 6 years and put in a 7/8ah 12v alarm battery 14 to 27 dollar maint repair. k

HomeAutomationX What stops someone from steeling the camera if you use the magnetic mount?
I suppose nothing. I would use the magnet mount indoors and the optional external mount for outside. However if your cameras are high up - out of reach then a magnet mount should be good.

These are OK for VERY basic surveillance needs. Personally I find it ridiculous to pay for storage. Just get a professional system and be done with yearly fees, unlimited storage, better image especially at night.
