The 89 earthquake really destroyed the Mall...I left about six or seven years ago... The Casino Beach was also very dangerous to walk around with bare feet because of the amount of used syringes laying around in the sand... Hard shoes are a must for the beaches from Capitola all the way down to the end of the beach at the big hotel... Sad,...💔😡

About 40 years ago I was living in a car...As soon as it was light enough, I would get out on the sand and would have a 5 gallon bucket to carry everything I could find...I remember that I found lots of unopened beers and other stuff worth taking... My best score was two dozen unopened beers... Don't drink alcohol anymore.... Don't even live in the Monterey Bay area anymore...😢
