I adore this song, it feels like it could be a man's lifework condensed into a single epic track. I think that is what it's trying to say as well. I get lot of weird looks when I say Caress of Steel is my favorite Rush record , but I don't think those people have properly given this track a spin and sat through with the lovely prose that it is.
They TOLD us on Caress of Steel": LISTEN!! And DIDN'T WE, them chopping it UP. BEST BAND EVER!! it's just SOOOOOO HARD to not pay the respect, appreciation, and acknowledge the accomplishments of the band😃💙🎸 🤣🙏
Can't believe only 256 views when this is easily the best quality HQ version of this song on youtube. An epic musical Odyssey rivalled only by Hemispheres. Great upload Felken, thank you for the crystal clear listen. And lyrics too! What more could anyone want?
Thanks man! I burned it from the original CD in WAV format (better quality than MP3), did some slight EQing to give it a slightly crisper sound. I appreciate good comments.
A hidden conversation between a disabled veteran and an athlete can be heard after a minute of silence following the end of the song. It ends at 21:13 and closes the album.
Dry run for 2112 which was a dry run for Hemispheres...Rush was a band w/ some excellent ideas, but it took them 3 LP's to bring them to 1/3rd fruition...
Interesting. I have to disagree. Although Hemispheres is my favourite of the three you mentionned, 2112 and Lamneth are great epics of their own right. Caress of steel is an overall fantastic record, and I love the organic feel of it. Then again, that's just my opinion.
Yes, I've always said if Caress of Steel came after 2112, A Farewell to Kings, and Hemispheres it would have been a huge hit, but as we all know, ironically, this had to come first and fail miserable or we would never have 2112 and hence Kings, Hemispheres and all the rest. Caress is my 3rd favorite Rush album behind Hemispheres and Permanent Waves
For this version, I edited all the individual parts together. The pauses between each part are probably a bit longer than the standard version, but I made it that way so that the pauses felt just the right length.
I absolutely love Geddy's bass tone in this song. Hollow, rich, woody, crisp.
Beyond creative! Caress of Steel is so underrated!

Great song
Some of my favorite Neal Peart tom tom runs are in this song!
Pretty much the best drum sound of their whole discography.
Good job brother.
Thank you!

No One at the Bridge is AMAZING!!!

Geddy did hone in on a tone though on that Ric, and Teardrop, DIDN'T HE😂
What's the difference between this and the 19:58 long version?
