    While this didn’t work for me, it DID convince me the problem WAS my electric motor ($300) versus replacing the whole hydraulic/electric assembly ($3800)!!! I can’t thank you enough for posting your video!! It helped me just replace the motor all by myself for just the cost of the new motor saving me $3500!!

    Just followed these instructions and it fixed the problem. Make sure you clean the motor really well with fine emery cloth. Took me two attempts but just saved a fortune. Thanks Hakan

    Brilliant! Worked for me too! Just be careful when you remove the motor though as the oil will leak if you don't position upright and the bush can fall out easily!

    Great Video, very helpful!
    We changed out the motor and serviced the 6 ounce reservoir with a blue hydraulic fluid. Installed the motor securely and ran the system to remove the air out of System and it was Okay after that! Great Video

    Great video!! I was able to do this fix in an hour. I did exactly as indicated and it works great. I always thought it was the switch not making good contact. Thank you. now I have to re-glue rear window.

    Thank you, Great video. Did mine today and replaced the fluid £13.00 from Audi, can I add that you definitely need to make sure you mark on the body of the pump and the motor case, I put my motor back on 180 degrees and it did not work, also if you have an older A4 (B6) like mine you do not need to take the torx screws out, just the 2 x 8mm long bolts at the end of the motor case.

      It's a time consuming little job and the Audi Dealer will charge you over $2200.
      For the Job and did a half-assed job and it still did not run correctly? Dealership never added the Hydraulic Fluid? The second time I did the job myself and saved the money!

    I have an a4 2004 cabrio and one day I was trying to take the top off and it got stuck half way, I took it to the Audi dealership and they tell me that the front locks for the top is broke and it’s an internal problem and that I would have I replace the whole top for like 4,000 but in reality that was never my problem cause it would lock well. Do you think this could be the motor since it got stuck half way while opening it? They to me something completely different then the problem I saw

    • @hakansahin9735

      Simply try my solution, you have nothing to loose. I've seen many issues with the roof and was fixed by cleaning the motor :) good luck.

  • @chaos.corner
    @chaos.corner 7 років тому

    Have exactly these symptoms. Hopefully it will be the same solution. Thanks. (Not complaining as it got me $1000 off the car).
    Just as an additional point, you can help prevent these issues a bit by operating the top every so often even if you're not planning to use it.

    • @hakansahin9735
      @hakansahin9735  7 років тому

      Chaos Corner most probably this is the solution, after fixing my own still working fine since I made this video. All the best!

    • @chaos.corner
      @chaos.corner 7 років тому

      I'm wondering if the old starter-motor trick of banging it with a piece of wood might work. I'll give it a try before tearing it apart. Unfortunately, these past few days it's been too hot to be out working on a car.

    • @hakansahin9735
      @hakansahin9735  7 років тому

      Chaos Corner it might work but then I think it will stop again very soon.

    • @chaos.corner
      @chaos.corner 7 років тому

      Maybe. But the brushes are designed to clean the commutator so running it up and down a bunch of times might clean it up enough. That's also why I suggested that running the top occasionally even when you're not actually using it could be a good thing (also for the hydraulic seals). I'll give it a try anyway, just need to check if I have the torx bits.

    • @chaos.corner
      @chaos.corner 7 років тому

      Well, I took it apart and cleaned it up and no luck but it is definitely the motor. It looks like one of the brushes is sticking. I have tried moving it back and forth to free it up but no luck so far and I think I will just end up chewing up the braided wire if I keep going. Unfortunately, I can't see a way to disassemble things to get at the brush as there appears to be a push-fit bearing. I'll have to come back to it...

    When it was like this and you were trying to close it. Was it closing all in once or it was closing step by step? After pressing and releasing button 6-7 times, it is closed all the way mine. Not sure if I should replace the motor since i have replaced 3 different ones from junkyard.

    • @hakansahin9735
      @hakansahin9735  3 роки тому

      Don't think everyone will have to clean the motor every winter but maybe they do it just incase it fails again. Once you do this for yourself you will become familiar with it so even if you want to do it again every winter it's fine.
