We have NO MECHANISMS IN PLACE to hold almost anyone to account unless they commit an actual criminal offence. Even then, the DPP will make a judgement as to whether a trial advances the public good or if the PROBABILITY of a guilty verdict is low. Only poor or powerless people ever see the inside of a courtroom. And then someone in the Comments will say how good it is to see these people being held to account when, as SnafuFubar101 pointed out, there are zero consequences. It's not just Select Committees; it's the whole system that protects the elites from the consequences of antisocial, even arguably criminal behaviour.

Not only are the workers striking "simply because they can" but the leaders and heads within the company say they support it yet don't appear to be doing anything about it. Why is he assuming there is "a" reason? There might be any number of individual reasons, supporting a laid off worker or disputing a change to working conditions, or any number of other localised individual reasons. Is he expecting them to list each individual strike and it's reason, and resolugtion? Because that sounds like the kind of information that should have been asked before the session, so a list could have been made and submitted to the committee.
I'd hazard a guess that the reason why there are so many strikes is the failure of the company to communicate effectively with its employees as exemplified by this pair of numpties in front of the MPs. Ms Kearney needs intensive communication training.

I think there lack of reply confirms they are a bad employer with and unable to engage with their staff or anyone who questions there methods. They missed a golden opportunity here; If I were them, I personally would have said they are asking for/demanding more money and higher wages because the living costs and expenses of living within the UK have spiralled out of control and rents are well out of step with what you can fairly pay in wages. That shifts the blame from Amazon back onto the UK government. That's what I would have said. It wouldn't have been wrong.
