I think a big part of the vibe being different is due to the level cap being 25, most people arent in a rush and more willing to help others because we all know we have time until the next phase.
I think WoW classic is just something we all have to accept was a once in a lifetime game, the community, the world, the nostalgia, the mechanics, the variety, the fantasy aspect, mobs being dangerous. I think HC takes that to a new level, SoD might actually be the entrance to extend WoW’s lifetime and go on a true Vanilla+ experience, with different expansions, like an elemental expansion
The vibe you discussed was interesting. I believe you felt like there was minimal socializing and player interaction, because retail players were trying out WoW Classic. Interaction on retail was just as you described in the video. Selfish and almost non-interaction besides negative interaction. When I played retail during BFA and Shadowlands I could stop and wave and literally say hi to people and they would ignore me like I was a distraction. I've tried this on multiple occasions and only a single person really stopped to bother to talk about the game. When I was originally playing Blizzard Classic (Earthfury Realm) I always felt that there was a social experience to be had, at least while leveling, but you're probably talking about endgame socializing. Overall socializing is a big part of enjoying Classic and I'm sorry you felt that way. I'm happy you're re-experiencing the true joys of it all in SoD!! I may have my home in Turtle WoW, but I'm glad the blizzard players are still able to have fun too :3
Agreed on all fronts. Hit cap a few days ago from what I would consider casual play. A few hours a night after work and extracurriculars. I grinded Ashenvale so I could get the trinket and a helm, and now i feel i’m ready for BFD. I feel very relaxed about the whole thing. And not to mention the insane amount of socializing that takes place here. It is a shock to go to retail and play almost entirely alone even running dungeons. In SoD there are organic social events non stop. Love that
Hear me out: Classic 2019: Globo Gym. SoD: Average Joes. Its so much more casual even for the sweatiest bois (myself) no major rush to raid or Max and get Bis. Just a good ol' time
I totally agree with you. It's actually crazy how this season has been the first time since I first picked up wow two weeks after release that I have "that feeling" of fun and magic again. I'm also man enough to admit that I felt genuine emotion logging into this server and my friend from my very first guild saw me in the starting zone an added me to his guild and online was all my old friends I made in vanilla. Same names, same classes, same stupid jokes. I could actually feel myself tear up a lil. These weren't just players in a game, I got to know these people. Meet them in real life. Vacation with them. But time an distance took it's toll on us an we all grew apart like you do as you get older. But in that moment, man. I never thought a stupid video game like wow could incite feelings like that. It's hard to imagine them ever topping this moment in their game ever again tbh.
Retail has zero player interaction while leveling. Classic is the only version of the game where players interact while traversing the world. Full stop. That's where the nostalgia kicks in for players who were around for the 2003-2004 launch. Spontaneous groups while questing, organizing parties for dungeons and getting to know your team members as you travel to the location in anticipation, asking people in chat to help with quests and them actually replying, zones not being completely empty or players being veiled behind different phases, etc. This organic feeling simply doesn't exist in retail.
I remember people talking in 2018 how wonderful the community will be in Classic. Oh, boy were they wrong. Elitists, bullies, weirdos. I made more friends in Mythic+ than in all of Classic...
@@AkiRa22084 Yeah there's a huge difference between PvP and PvE servers. All the toxic griefers are on PvP. PvE is less populated but much more vanilla like experience with everyone being nice and helping each other.
Idk man that antisocial behavior might just be a personal thing, ive seen lots of friendly people from the start of classic to even now. People interacted more at the start for sure but now that stuff is online for the most part people will use thos resources instead. That being said playing on popular servers for a region will probably skew perspective as well, no doubt the streamer server ls will be more toxic than others but i think for the most part peoples attitudes have been more or less the same to the game.
Im a real casual player and i love the slow pace of classic (most of the time 😂). And with the level cap it feels so much decelerated. I love it! I wanna enjoy every zone & with the new things i have to completely re-explore all the zones. ❤ And so i dont have too much stress to get to max level, farm gear and get raid ready. :)
I wouldn't agree on that. I started a fresh char on one of the Season of Mastery servers something like 1-2 months before Season of Discovery was announced and I had a great time. People were very communicative and cooperative plus I even made some new friends along the way. But that's just my personal experience, maybe I just got very lucky.
I totally agree with your review. I didn’t like classic and I’m in and out of retail because of all the negativity or toxicity around meta players. I’m casual and I like to have fun. SoD is cruisy and fun.
I don't know, might just be because is new? honestly that was my experience with classic a few years ago on rattlegore server. Maybe because I never interacted with all those "OMG RUSH TO 60 EVERYTHING OVERLY OPTIMIZED OR FUCK OFF" people.
its so funny to me some of these "beginner guides" to Disco WoW and its like a 2 hour long video like... No thanks I'd rather just play the game and not metagame! lol
Try Hardcore server and it's even more social as no one wants to die so the anti social is few and far between from my experience. People are even more friendly than SoD but SoD is defiantly fun!
Play on a low pop server, it's great when you run into people. A guild helps each other more. People are more friendly, talking to each other. I cannot bring my self to play on a packed server again.
Its just a way to make you "like" or be comfort with all the retail has... nothing is new, they just trying to convince the community that retail is good by adding that abilities to the old game that EVERYBODY loves... i think its a low move trying to force people to like something that NOBODY likes
Classic developer team is delusional to think that vanilla players will like retail like things added to the game, they won't, the sole reason hundreds of players resuscribed during and after Classic launch after not having played retail for years or even more than a decade is precisely because the Classic version of the game isn't retail and doesn't have too many life of quality added to the game.
its bad. they're lazy and they gave u some minor changes and are taking advantage of you and mocking you, if you dont care or dont notice then you deserve to play SoD. this aint anything close to vanilla+
The first 2 days of SoD were big,and people were helping one another.. after that it became a bore festival with people abusing new players for not knowing things. Nobody helps much a week after SoD launch .. some runes are locked behind Walls more than others and they nerfed mage healing and hunter explosive shot in the 1st week a d ruined people's experience from the very start.
SOD is yet another poorly thought out half-ass Blizzard money grab to keep subscribers. Blizzard already ruined Classic, as did the modern-day player community, which is why I (& pretty much our entire guild) finally canceled for good after P1 of WotLK Classic.

The main reason for it's success was that Facebook wasn't popular yet.
@@AkiRa22084I don't recall anyone who was obsessed with Facebook having spent much if any time at all in WoW.

This SoD is proof that Classic+ is what is wanted, not Cataclysm which is the start of retail. Blizz failed big by going cata instead of Classic+.

Ngl, Vaulty, these freeform videos just discussing the game are actually enjoyable. Keep this up.
i couldnt agree with you more, something "vanilla plus"-ish such as sod is the only thing that couldve brought me back to wow and im loving it
Ret Paladin on chaos bolt here. I have absolutely loved season of discovery. That is all.
If I would have found a Rune, I would have told nobody.

Allince players :LFM SFK robes of arugal reserved ! seems to me Alliance has a mental issue.
