    Wow, you are truly amazing! Beautiful work! Im going to school to become a dog groomer now in August and I really hope to become this good 😍 A question, about the undercoat removal, is that just brushing and then the rest of the hairs disapear in the shower and blowdrying?

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому

      Thank you! I’m sure you will.
      Undercoat removal is not only brushing. You need to remove the undercoat in the shower by blow drying or brushing it out and then you can use a rake or brush when dryed. There is this new device that really helps with the process. It is a nozzle from sav-ur-fur.
      I hope this helped. Good luck with grooming school. I’m sure you will do great.

      @@gabbyspetspaw, 😄 I think you’ll agree: it doesn’t just “disappear”!

      mini aussies tend to have a bit of a thicker build like this bc they are more compacted, but male aussies are also broader build. Female aussies tend to be a lot slimmer but still fluffy

    i wanna take my aussie to a professional groomer, but afraid no one would be able to deal wih his fluffy but. he hates anything that touches his coat, he hates brushes! the only time i can brush his coat is when he's eating, and its only 2 mins, not enough!! any idea on how he would be handled by a professional? or they would not take a stubborn dog like this?

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому +2

      Gala Shestopal sometimes dogs are stubborn with the owner and when they go to the groomer they do just fine. Research a good groomer near your area and go talk to them. Explain them your dog’s situation and give them a try.

      That's true about them acting differently with the groomer. My girl hardly lets me brush her. But the groomer said she behaved very well for her.

    • @savannah9479
      @savannah9479 3 роки тому +1

      you have to train him to like being brushed, bc it's sooo important to brush between groomings so they don't get matted. What we did was held treats in one hand and brushed with the other and slowly started giving them less until eventually they only got a treat at the end. we also got an undercoat rake to speed up the process a bit

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  3 роки тому

      Hi, ask your veterinarian if you can give him supplements for his skin and coat. Also, make sure he does not have any kind of skin infection.
      You can also check his diet and see if you can improve it.

    I have heard that it is bad to remove their undercoat because it acts like insulation, is that true. Ive also heard it may not grow back.

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому +3

      Kaia English you remove the extra undercoat, not the whole thing. It is bad to shave down to the skin, but it does come back.

    • @moremerry57
      @moremerry57 3 роки тому

      Kaia, someone garbled the message.
      As Gabby said, you DO remove the undercoat. In fact, if you don’t the dig will suffer: overheating, mats that pull the skin, and hot spots (this amount of hair is the result of man’s intervention - wild figs don’t have this).
      But NEVER cut the overcoat, which will be long and likely glossy and lovely! ♥️ 😊

    I just bought a 8 week old Red Merle Aussie. At what age should i start worrying about haircuts

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому +4

      Aussies shouldn’t get a heavy haircut. No shaving!
      Start at 12-15 weeks with baths, nails and ears. Brush, brush, brush and when it’s time trim her feathers and paws.

      @@gabbyspetspaw ♥️ thank you!
      I know groomers know this, but I’ve known TOO MANY insistent, unread Aussie owners who just “knew” their Aussies were too hot - and ruined their gorgeous coats.
      BTW, so many vids feature merle aussies - what a mistake. Tri-colors are as magnificent as any.
      The ONLY reason I have a merle now is I was afraid I would expect too much of it: expect it to be like my beloved Cyrus. And that’s just not right.

    How badly do they shed on like a regular daily basis?

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому

      There are a couple of factors that influence in shedding. Care, diet, weather and breeding.
      A healthy dog it is not supposed to shed that much. If you groom him/her regularly, you can keep the shedding under control.

    • @KFinch.
      @KFinch. 4 роки тому +1

      Aussies shed year round, spring more heavily when they lose their winter coats. I brush my girls coat weekly to avoid matting.

    • @lindadiaz9452
      @lindadiaz9452 4 роки тому

      K. Finch like do I have to worry bout hair shedding throughout the house? Like if they lay on my bed or the couch for example

    • @gabbyspetspaw
      @gabbyspetspaw  4 роки тому

      linda diaz it all depends on how well you take care of their coat. If you groom your dog regularly, there is going to be shedding, but not as much as if you groom him 2 a year.
      You should get your puppy on a schedule and do de-shedding baths. That will control the shedding.

    • @KFinch.
      @KFinch. 4 роки тому +1

      linda diaz as gabby stated if you have them on a schedule it helps. But overall I still see hair etc. just not as bad.
