I agree with you. Lionel is getting outrageous prices for a Chinese computer that you would think was made in America. You’re paying for bells and whistles, but you don’t get any bells and whistles. The computer chip in that base is about as complicated as a computer chip in a Casio wristwatch that you get for free in a Cheerios cereal box.
Zach, mountain scene is superlative. 10/10. The cluster of building(s) in middle of diner and industrial building is ok, seems a bit awkward, not quite fits in the middle. Perhaps something a tad smaller? Not sure. I do share your feeling of uncertainty with it. Still love the moon light. Light that sucker up for me in next video as a special request. In summary, landscaping skills are now top notch, layout has a very nice flow and homage to Pabst beer is priceless. Concur with your base 3 gripe. Seems they took a shortcut and or were not well informed of how popular the handheld controller is with so many. Not all of us are app centric. Well done. Looking forward to next vid.

Thanks for this update, Zach. Really nice looking mountain forest scene and drive in along that mountain road. The forest with trees and ground cover looks amazing. The ground cover is so natural looking and the variety of pines and fur trees is amazing! It all is coming together and the lower part of mountains range looks to be just as fantastic. The lower part of the new layout will be interesting as you develop your vision, but the flats are definitely a great start. I have no suggestions because I trust your vision and skill.
Very nice! Everything is coming along at a good pace, for sure. The new Base 3 seems pretty cool. I'm a conventional guy, but I might get the Cab-3 app, so I can run trains on some of my friends layouts. The new scenery is quite fine. I've probably mentioned before, that I'm not good with scenery. My new layout is close go getting scenery started and Caleb Easter said that he would give me pointers, when the time comes. Either way, your new layout looks like it will be super nice. An excellent video, as always.
Hey Zach! If you wanted some train action on the back shelf, you might consider putting one of those bump and run trolleys on the shelf. I thought I wouldn’t like those bought one for my small Christmas layout and really enjoy it going back and forth thru the village.
I like the buildings on the side I think it adds a nice contrast to the more natural scenery you’re talking about adding. I also think it looks nice when the train is moving through scenery it adds more depth but either way this is looking great. Maybe a water feature would be nice like a little stream in the mountain.
Lionel’s controllers are always solid they never die I wish their trains had the same quality. I have the base 3 also and I’m happy so far. I still need to hook up the WiFi.
At the train club last night the conversation was about getting the new Lionel base to connect to wifi. The mountains are great. Those hills would have a lot of downed trees in real world.

I'd like to see a tunnel for the cars up top with a mirror in the back that's slightly angled away. This way, you don't see yourself and the reflection looks like the road goes somewhere. I really want to do that on my layout.

Hey Zach you have really improved the layout a lot. I give you 10 out of 10. I am going to overhaul my layout like yours. It’s a lot of work. Tons of money too. I agree about the eye candy. I like lights and flashing red or green. My 022 switches do some lighting. I notice you don’t have signal blocks. Is it that you don’t like them? Anyhow great job.

Up on the left mountain you can could put a camping 🏕 set up there, maby some campers with a tent or 2 a fake camp fire but couple campers with a tent or 2 would be cool sitting up there let me know what you think about it?
With all the issues that LIONEL has and continues to present more mishaps which there trains right out of the box now it’s a complaint because a light don’t light up or flickers on a new command base really just sayin have a nice day😎.
I have to do so much on my phone these days, the LAST thing I want to do is operate my trains yet again using that @&%#! phone. I will continue to used a handheld and if Lionel does not support their handheld units because of this Base 3 after I've spent so much on Lionel's stuff, I'll just move over to DCS.
